That is a good point. My second guess goes to Sheryl Chee then.Mary's already writing Varric and Vivienne, I think, so three companions sounds like a lot

Is Patrick Weekes writing any characters too? Or just that book?

Speculation is he's writing Iron Bull.

I can't say I know, was it rumoured he was writing The Iron Bull?

Ah.. maybe I'll like Iron Bull, after all.
I really don't like Qunari. Or Tal Vashoth (they still have the same behavioral quirks). Someone called me a racist earlier. It's true in this case.
But P.Weekes could change that.

I'm imagining it right now.
WHY DON'T I HAVE ANY LIKES LEFT.
This is unacceptable.
I'll also just take the opportunity to chime in and say that it would be . . . fantastic beyond words to have DHMG be a spirit healer, especially if he's Tevinter. I would love that so hard I'm having difficulty finding an adjective to express how very hard I would love it.

I haven't liked any that we've met so far either, even Tallis, I just can't relate to their ideology.
Back to DHMG, the more I think about it I would really like to see Sheryl Chee write him. Going into DA2 I thought I'd hate Isabela 'Oh look another sex addled pair of boobs on legs', but she instantly won me over. Her banter with other party members had me in stitches and now she is one of my favourite characters in the series.

Sheryl Chee is the best. imo at least. I like every one of her characters.

It definitely lends to his whole 'not what he seems' deal.
An almighty Tevinter Magister using his phenomenal powers to heal people. Yes. I like this. A lot.

While I suppose specilizatins for companions will likely be set(as they have been in the past), I'm hoping that doesn't extend to spell trees being locked out for mages like they were in DO2.
Having only one spirit healer, that's one thing. Having only one mage that can cast healing spells at all is another.

I'm pretty sure you've got nothing to worry about on that front.

I thought it was specified somewhere (and of course I have no link for you) that companions would not have "set" specializations like in DA2. I assumed (and I may be incorrect) that this meant that while a companion may begin the game with a specific specialization, you could always choose to change it/spec them into something different later.
Anyone remembering differently?
Edit: Kinda

Having Merrill locked out of the creation tree was pretty annoying, luckily I prefer the mage class for my Hawke anyway.

Set specilizations wasn't limited to DA2; every party member in Origins except Sten had a set specilizaion. Since we're being limited to a single specilization in this game, I didn't see a reason why that would change.
But if I'm wrong and they've confirmed otherwise, that is what it is.

Me, too. I prefer playing a mage to such an extent that I usually find myself seizing control of whatever mage party member I've brought along with my Hawke/Warden about halfway through each non-mage playthrough.
And the prospect of a full mage party . . . I have very little interest in Vivienne (based on what little we've seen so far, and that could always change), but the temptation to add her to my first party and have All The Mage Fun is pretty strong.
Yet another reason I really hope DHMG is a mage.

Eh, I've never cared for mage play in Dragon Age. Actually, I've never much cared for mage play in any game, come to think of it.

That's how I feel about rogues.
I don't think I've ever played a rogue and enjoyed it much.
Different strokes, man.

I do remember reading somewhere, though, that mages with healing spells can now only heal themselves.
Don't take my word for it because I honestly don't remember the source, but it's part of the way they're changing the healing and health system - it makes no sense if any mage can go around healing everybody, given that they're already limiting health potions and disabling automatic health recovery to make battles more strategic.
(Particularly if mages' healing spells come out of a mana pool, and if mana regenerates infinitely...)
