We have no clue was Rift Mage is. I don't think we'll be able to summon demons with it, since the school for it is already known, and it should be demonology.I hope they don't teach us. I'm just wandering why two of the mage specialization sound like summoning trees. Why have two trees for corpses and demons? When, you could just put them together and call the warlock specialization.

Rift mage, I believe, deals with spatial manipulation, i.e. "rifts". Perhaps it deals more with localized teleportation and other such powers.

But, mages can't teleport it is against the rules of magic.

I think a lot of the old rules are getting overturned with the Veil ripping. Also, we have seen Vivienne do a blink teleport, as well as several enemy mages do localized teleportation as well.
I think that the First Enchanter who wrote about teleportation being impossible meant it was only impossible for long distance, which we also know is untrue because the eluvians do facilitate long range teleportation.

To be fair, there's a massive rip in mundane reality currently opening in the sky. I think some of the rules of magic are being bent a little simply by virtue of that BEING there. (i.e. The glowy green hand thing attaching itself even to a non-magically-talented Quizzy, demons pouring out of the Fade unbidden, etc.)

I agree with the rest, but the time-slow is just the new Haste, according to Mike Laidlaw.

But don't you have to go through a pocket dimension when you use a eluvian. So, it is not really teleportation, but more of a fast travel.

I thought they specifically said some time back that the rift mage skill wasn't true teleportation for REASONS, but now I forgot what they are.. or where I saw it. So, maybe I imagined it...
It looks like Dorian probably will be the necromancer if companions have specializations the same as what the Inquisitor can have. I'm guessing because it seems like what his mentor was. I wonder if you pick their specializations, like you can change the warriors from sword/shield to two handed, or if they/some of them have specializations you can't have, though.

one day my friends...
one day
/in solidarity from the solas fans
Man I just don't know anymore. I'm taking Varric & Dorian for sure everywhere. It'll be like old times when my Hawke used to tramp around all day with nothing but boys. But I'm torn now between Iron Bull & Blackwall. I want them both!
Also: So do ya'll think Dorian will be the healer or Viv? Because I don't really see Vivi being a healer and I think it'll work better for a Necromancer. Life and death and all that.

I always take my LI everywhere. I hope that's Dorian, but if he's not available, then my ideal party will need some rethinking. I'd like it to be Dorian and Cole with the third spot going to Varric or whoever I think will be interesting with the current quest line. If Dorian can't be an m/m LI, then his spot will go to Solas if he's available, but I'll be super disappointed if it's Cullen and I can't have my obligatory LI party slot filled. I don't even know what to do. lol

We need a healer. I don't mind being support, but we still need a healer.
I like all the mage companions so far, but if there are any healers or knight enchanters, they'll be benched. I don't like having defensive specs in my party.

Entirely speculation, though a lot of it matches up
Solas - Rift Mage
Dorian - Necromancer
Viv - Knight Enchanter
Cole - Assassin
Dagna - Artificer
Sera - Tempest
Cullen/Cass - Templar?
Blackwall - Champion
Iron Bull - Reaver
hm. I guess it does. *shrugs*

I think companion specifications will be pretty open.
As far as I know it's been mentioned a couple of times that we can spec them to be any battlefield role.

<wild speculation> Anyone thinks since Patrick Weekes wrote Cole so maybe Dorian belongs to David Gaider and he will be bi/gay romance option? ^^ </wild speculation>
Yeah, I think it's more a possibility now, since David Gaider wrote 2 companions, and he didn't end up writing Cole.

We shall see but i hope we get a reveal sooner than later because all that waiting drives me mad, heh ^^ (perhaps GaymerX will be a big time to reveal Dorian as many of you guys said)

True. I could honestly see Sheryl or David writing either Solas or Dorian.
