Yeah, I think it's more a possibility now, since David Gaider wrote 2 companions, and he didn't end up writing Cole.

Unless... David wrote Solas?

I'm still leaning towards Sheryl having written Dorian, hope we find out soon though.

Man, as someone who has always had a fascination with the darker side of magic, it would be interesting to have a necromancer in the party. I mean, it's not like we haven't had a blood mage and a spirit healer abomination as companions before.

I could honestly see Sheryl or David writing either Solas or Dorian.

A lot of people assumed David Gaider wrote Solas early on. They might have been right all along. I'm shocked he didn't write Cole. I would love to know why they decided to switch to Weekes. It's not that I'm skeptical of the choice, or anything negative, just interested. I really can't guess between Solas and Dorian who is Gaider's, though.

Hi there, mystery buddies! Let us bond in the mystery surrounding our favorite characters!

I just hope this means Dorian and Solas will be revealed in the next couple of weeks. (Watch they not show up until right before release).

Also, I agree that it could go either way with who Gaider wrote but I'm more leaning towards Dorian. Just a hunch.

It would be kind of funny if Solas was Felassan or someone heavily tied to The Masked Empire and David Gaider wrote him. lol

One thing I do remember is that David had a pretty good idea of when the artists were updating Solas' visual appearance (this was months ago), since he was talking about it a bit around the time when the character was first shown off in those magazines.

I lean towards Solas. David said a few times, that his most emotionally invested character, and the most fascinating story was written for DAI. I don't see what so fascinating about renegade magister, while we know basically nothing about Solas, other than his mysterious connection to the Fade.

The one thing that would really throw me is if Luke wrote Dorian.

Or one of the Mass Effect writers who came across, like Sylvia. o___O

Could Luke have written him? If Cole has taught us anything in the past hour, it's that anything is possible.

well this came from the Solas thread

I can't even really hazard a guess at this point.

Let's recap who wrote who from what we know of the interviews thus far:

Luke Kristjanson
Sera

Patrick Weekes
The Iron Bull
Cole

Mary Kirby
Vivienne
Varric

David Gaider
Cassandra

Sheryl Chee
Blackwall

Plus the other writers too, so anything is definitely possible

Luke and Sheryl are so far only writing one companion each, but I assume one of them is taking the character (out of Dorian and Solas) that David didn't write.

It's also possible that they wrote other major NPCs, and there are whole story plots that we don't know about, so.... I don't know.

I don't know, David did have a lot to say when Solas was first revealed, so he could be Solas' writer. Then there was a tweet a long time ago where Sheryl and Mary were talking about how one of MK's characters (Vivienne, very likely) needs to give fashion tips to one of SC's characters. Though they said "character" rather than "companion", so I don't know. Then there is the fact that David has always had at least one non-human (elf/spirit) companion in all DA games/expansions. Also, writing an m/m-only LI could be that "something he always wanted to write". Or it could have been anything really, like writing a female warrior, or writing someone whose beliefs are being challenged, or whatever...

Anyways, I'm still shocked that David isn't Cole's writer anymore. Though I suppose that he is now quite different from how he was in Asunder, so it does make sense if David's own interpretation of Cole isn't really needed any longer.

Like our advisers, right?  Can't forget about them.  ;)  I'd be more surprised if Sheryl *isn't* writing for Leliana for Inquisition.  She wrote Cullen for Origins, so her writing for him now that Hepler is gone isn't too beyond the realm of possibility, imo.

(Masked Empire Spoilers)

Well, Felassan died at the end of Masked Empire. Killed by (I think) the Formless One, one of the 4 great demons we heard a little bit and meet every game. Gaxkang, Xebenkeck, Imshael (Also in ME) and the "Formless One", who I believe is Flemeth.

We need a healer. I don't mind being support, but we still need a healer.

Agreed. And being a healer would cement his oppositeness to the normal magisters.

Or it could be Razikale the Old God of mystery. Razikale is the only shape shiftier Old God. It would explain Tevinter's involvement in DAI. Razikale wants to go home, and Tevinter wants to get rid of the Chantery.

We've had two in fact. We've actually had an abomination companion every single game (yes, including Awakening)

Yeah, I keep wondering why David didn't write the character he... well, wrote. It's strange. Perhaps Patrick was the one to suggest Cole be a companion so the duty went to him?

As for David, my money's on Solas. No idea why, but my gut says Solas. (Watch me be soooo wrong).

Dorian wrote Dorian. He hopped out of the writers' table and told everyone they weren't making him awesome enough.

LAWD. I had no idea that site was still up... we did this for Origins with Alistair, Sten, Cailan and Zevran. Hilarity.
