Blah, my Dark Horse reader won't load so I can't check the wording, but I seem to remember leaving the book with the impression that the person being talked about could have potentially "healed" Maric by uh, unconventional means rather than the usual.
EDIT: It loaded! Yeah, she talks about him being able to "graft spirit onto flesh and restore life", which sounds like a pretty way of saying necromancy to me.
It definitely sounded like a weird mix of healing and necromancy.

Wasn't Dorian's former teacher using magic to keep his son alive? That sounds pretty necromancer to me...

I have come here to report the most grievous of crimes.
Someone shaved Dorian.

The "wedge" haircut is funny. Haven't seen one of those in awhile. I had that in my teens.

Don't worry. I've already sent a strongly worded threat message to the person who created that atrocity.

In the E3 demo, Dorian didn't seem to know what his former teacher did to his son [teacher's son, not Dorian's]...

Yeah I'm really convinced that Dorian will be The Necromancer. with Rift being related to fade and all + Solas was introduced as 'Fade Expert', I think it is pretty clear, to me. Although I still want companions to have their own unique specialisation. I don't see that happening for now but we'll see.

Oh, you know who made it? I just saw it on Google.
Seriously, though, he looks... kinda ugly without the 'stache. Not hideous, but... I dunno if it's just the quality of the photoshop job, or what, but he doesn't look complete.

Woooo yeah ! Dorian looks and is so badass !
I like it when a guy who has everything he can have in life decides to give all that a giant middle finger and follows his own principles !
I am somewhat like that so I can totally relate to Dorian.
I would rather have him in my team than Vivienne. Plus awesome mustache > freaky hats.
Dorian, Cole, Iron Bull, Varric and Cassandra are looking to be frequent party members for me.

He said 'What have you done?!', but it was more 'No! Bad!' than 'I don't understand'.

I'm with you. I love how in DA2 each companion had a unique specialization that you couldn't learn.

I'm excited to see what they mean by outcast and pariah. Has he literally been exiled or disowned by his family or Tevinter society, or does his opposition simply make him someone that other magisters don't want to invite over for tea? My first impression is that the former situation in more likely, but I think the latter option would be more interesting in many ways.

Am I the only one who sees similarity between Dorian and Doc (companion and LI of fem- Jedi Knight in SW:TOR MMO)? Both, in looks and description.
You know, now that you mention it... I totally see it.

Spoiler
Based on this picture and the E3 demo I think he is going to be a Rift mage.
I dont know about that.
Consider that Solas is a mage who has spent his entire life specializing in fade studies. And Rifts are just portals to the fade.

No, I totally agree. The idea of Dorian's dissent being a moral positive is only true in so much that we assume Tevinter is an absolute negative. Which, as much as the games have tried to paint it as and in many objective ways Tevinter is an abhorrent state... well, we've also been from places with very limited, and highly biased, exposure to Tevinter.
Well,i mean look at the Qunari.A lot of people think their society is abhorrent and immoral(me included),but in contrast to Tevinter there are actually a lot of people who agree with them.
And i think thats because they're not rubbing it in your face. They actually try to convince you,and judging by a lot of forum discussions and Lets Plays,it actually works on a lot of people.
Im not saying that i agree with Tevinter, its quite the opposite actually, all i want is a Tevinter magister who is not all "Muhahaha",but still stands behind his/her country.
Maybe there is one in this game,i dont know,i just thought that having someone like that as a party member would have ben interesting.
Alas,maybe in the next game....^^

Necromancy is the summoning of spirits, so it could fit him too.
I think an argument could be made for Dorian to be any of the three specializations, to be honest: his concept art has him wielding a sword, and his former master dabbled in Necromancy. But Dorian is also manipulating that Fade portal in the E3 demo, a portal that was priorly being used by the Venatori. So he could very well have direct knowledge on the Rifts.
