Amen!
I would have been happier if everyone was bi.
Me too, man. Me too.
I don't now why this is always the highlight of my day.
*sneaks back into the thread*
A meeting of magisters where Dorian is present should go something like this...
Okay, that's the last time I mention it. I swear.
I don't have a problem.
Honest.
*sneaks back out*
Because it makes him sound too vain in my opinion. The first part was nice, but the second part ruined it for me. I mean, the VA may be able to make it endearing like how Robert Downey Jr. made Tony Stark vain yet still awesome, but I don't get the feeling it will work nearly as well.
The quote is also the type of thing that I would say, as I tend to enjoy comments of faux arrogance. I mean, have you seen my pythons? *kisses bicep*
The same words can mean very, very different things depending on the context. "Of course I'm awesome." Am I being vain and arrogant, or am I being playful and charming? Or something else?
Fair enough. Though I don't think Dorian is as arrogant as Vivienne. Just a bit cocky.
A part of me feels like he's stating how dashing he is in order to downplay his noble goals.
People who are used to concealing what they're actually feeling or thinking - which he may have had to have done for a while in Tevinter, at least initially, so it could be a habit - tend to try to distract from their true intentions with a benign/superfluous comment, or a blatant lie. "Focus on how ridiculous/shallow this sentence is, and don't pay attention to the one that actually reveals stuff and things about me, please."
But then, I only know what's presented in the profile and the quote, so who knows?
Still headcanoning that Dorian is like a kitten stuck in the rain that needs cuddles and warm milk and uses the snark to hide it.
NONE OF YOU ARE TAKING THAT AWAY FROM ME!
You and me both! LOL I wish we knew who all the romanceable characters are.

That is certainly true. As I said later, with context my opinion will certainly be open to changing.
I like the first part of the quote: "I'm here to set things right". The second part I'm not sure about: "Also? To look dashing. That part is less difficult". I can't help but hear that with Zevran's voice. Personally, I hope that Dorian's not much like Zevran at all. Sorry, I'm just really not a Zevran fan.
Ahhh, but Zev. I haven't really been a Dorian adherent, but the thought of him having even a few similarities to Zevran. Hmm, might have to check this out.

While I do see how you're getting a Zevran-like vibe from the quote, I can't help but feel that Dorian comes across as far too posh for me to compare the two all that closely. I hear less a "Loveable Rogue" and more a "Gentleman Snarker".
(Personal opinion only, of course.)
I will romance him.

Unlike that OTHER playthrough, it seems Magister Dorian has hit the jackpot in this one ![]()

Seconded on the "Gentlemen Snarker" part.
Ugh, all this collective squealing over the character reveals is kind of infectious. In a good way. Maybe.

I'm so glad you made a happy one to counteract the sadness the OTHER one made me feel
DAMN IT I LOOKED AT IT AGAIN
Come here, Dorian, I'll never break your heart!

I ran Dorian through photoshop out of morbid curiosity:

If it is David, he should be romancable. Didn't Gaider say he was two for two with his characters being romancable?
I've never been able to find the original quote, so I'm not sure.
He could be writing two companions and a third NPC who is romanceable - that would technically be three characters, but only two LIs.
Or it could be two for two. Unsure at this point. If he's writing Dorian, I'd think some sort of romance is more likely - but that's just a hunch.
