I found this. It's a lovely song, and it has Dorian's name in it. Here's hoping his story isn't as... sad as this one.

Aw, GURL... Varric just be too divine for us mere mortals. Maybe with a dwarf option in the mix we might see summin'? Then again maybe it will always be Bianca. Not joking on that, like seriously.Remember though that I hedged my bets on Varric being an LI in DA2...and we know how that turned out. Just take my shippy stuff with a grain, nay, a truckful of salt; I just like to make comics and stuff to cope with the wait until October
That said, Dorian will by hook or crook fit in my Rivani-descent Mage Supremacy Playthrough Trilogy one way or another By The Power of Greyskull, 'cos boi is too fooooiiiine not to be romanceable *cross fingers*

lucy, I dont think modern PCs can support that much sexiness, swarthiness and hedonism

Dorian's mustache looks like it was drawn on his face with a fountain pen.

Believe me, I try to use it at every opportunity, even at a stretch ![]()
I'm imagining him saying that line in the line of Wesley/Dread Pirate Roberts.

Can we just take a moment and marvel at this guys amazingly complicated robe ensemble he's got going on? How does he get dressed everyday??
Do he and Vivienne help each-other....???!
My Tevinter heraldry t-shirt arrived today! I'll be rocking it for Dorian. ![]()

I actually had to go back and watch Princess Bride again because of Dorian, so I'm on board ![]()

I think the more important question is how do you take it off?
I imagine my Inquisitor trying and getting really frustrated so she (he?) just whips out a knife.

So what do you all think Dorian's agenda is? The writers have made it clear that he is out to reform Tevinter. Reform in what way, specifically? Is he an abolitionist, trying to rid Tevinter of slavery once and for all? Is he more concerned with eradicating the use of blood magic in his homeland?

I think it's impossible to truly guess his exact motivation without more info, but judging by how he's grown furious/tired/fed up with how his country has become the 'bad guy', I'm tempted to say all of the above plus the corruption in general. The magisters aren't properly policed at all, after all, so can get away with virtually anything.
I'm going to guess that Dorian doesn't agree with how badly the magisters treat the lower classes. I think he probably doesn't agree with slavery and blood sacrifices. I think it's probably the "support for a benevolent mageocracy" theory someone had before. He probably doesn't want to completely take mages out of power in Tevinter. He probably just wants to rein in the blood magic and abuses of the non-magical.
That's just my guess, though.

I wonder if he's got some sort of backstory that goes against his whole swag hero thing, for example, he regularly used slaves for his own purposes until he experienced something which changed his mind on the whole thing? Maybe he befriended a slave?

I imagine it might have something to do with that teacher/mentor of his? The old bastard did claim Dorian was his greatest mistake.

It might be interesting if he had a somewhat pragmatic/scientific view of blood magic, maybe seeing it as something that could be researched and explored - "knowledge is power", and all - but want to curtail its excess and abuse. He might also want to cut back the infighting among his fellow magisters. A united, reformed Tevinter with a singular purpose would be a force to be reckoned with.

He seems to come from a wealthy and powerful family, so perhaps the conditions he saw there (and perhaps participated in) growing up were the catalyst for his one-magister rebellion.

Yeah, I could see him being alright with blood magic when there weren't sacrifices being made. The way Merrill used blood magic, for example. I wonder how much mention blood magic is even going to get, though, honestly. It looks like nobody can actually be a blood mage. It seems like our focus this go might be shifting to necromancy.
