Tevinter under Hessarians rule/ early conversion to Andrasteism wasn't a bad place. Non mages were in a position of authority, etc.

Maybe he wants something similar? A bit more equality for all?

Well, he hasn't been confirmed as an LI yet, simply that he's gay. Which is still fantastic news.

I am... disappointed in the fact that Tevinter, along with all the other evulz they engage in, is apparently homophobic when the rest of Thedas isn't, so much.

That said, Dorian definitely sounds like a lot of fun to hang out with, and he may well turn out to be a "bro" of sorts for me, though I might tear into Tevinter a time or two... or I might just say "screw everything" and play a Vashoth instead of an elf, in which case I might be all for Tevinter.

Personally, I'm just fine with Dorian being gay.

 

I like the sounds of his personality.

I like what he looks like.

 

If he's a LI, he's getting romanced no matter what avatar I have to see myself through.

 

Still seeing Dorian, Sera, and Cassandra as my main team.

But I think this game will make we switch out more, the relationships between all the companions seems really interesting.

Male inquisitor confirmed! Beyond the gay confirmation, I really liked this interview because it mentions his more witty and potentially snarky side, which I am really looking forward to. We al made assumptions based on his character, but in the demo we only saw his serious, no-nonsense side (fitting to the situation). A little hesitant about his chemistry with Vivienne, since I don't want to miss it but am not planning on having her with me much. Here's hoping he has good banters with IB, Sera and Solas as well!

Well, they'd said before this that Tevinter was harsh on homosexuality among nobles. You can do whatever you want with the slaves, but nobles are expected to marry and breed more mage babies, basically. Their caste system is based on who can breed the most and best mages through family lines, so it's a big deal to them. It's similar to the situation with Qunari breeding programs.

Also IB is pretty safely bisexual... and arguably Cassandra too. Cullen not yet confirmed. So we're getting there.

I know that he hasn't technically been confirmed as an LI yet, but it's looking highly likely now.

 

Okay, I have to officially offer my condolences to the ladies on the forum who were just as interested in Dorian as we gay guys were.  I understand how frustrating it is to have a handsome male companion LI and not have access to his romance, so I genuinely feel bad for you in this respect.

 

That being said, I have to say that I am BEYOND thrilled that Bioware is not only writing another gay male (only the second one ever), but also chose to make him a companion (the FIRST EVER), as well as a handsome, dashing guy.  I have, literally, been waiting for this moment for 16 years.  And it is as good as I was hoping it would be. 

 

THANK YOU BIOWARE!  Truly, thank you.
