I played Male Hawkes and Female Hawkes. I will play both male and female Inquisitors.
I will have a male Inquisitor for Dorian.
Its that simple. ![]()
I decided a few weeks ago that I wasn't entirely sure I could RP a Dalish elf comfortable romancing a Magister, regardless of how "different" from the rest he seemed. However, since elves are the only race I like to play as male, **** that **** I'm all in.
Let me put it this way: Of all the male companions, Dorian was the only one I was really interested in romancing with my female characters. That option is gone now. Am I allowed to whine now?
Again that was not what you said.
So they confirm both gay options before confirming one straight or bi option.
This was what you said, hence I responded to it because that is wrong. What you are saying now has NOTHING to do with why I responded to that post.
Wait, can't you romance him as a male character? I'm now highly confused; if you're fine with romancing men, and you're fine with playing male characters...?
Its simply the same like some that don't want to romance a female character with a male character, but are fine with romancing a male character with another male.
I think female gamers are used to playing as men, so they don't have a problem with rolling an m!Quizzie.
Just a speculation.
EDIT - personally, I just find it hot anyways, so bonus.
I do not want to begrudge any of my fellow players their gay romance, it's just that I always play female characters. Although I will always support the continuation of Bioware's writing diverse characters. So congrats, but I will cry.

Indeed. All I have left is Cullen. And he's not a companion. *cry*
You've stated your perspective, which is fine.
Hopefully the other male characters can work out once the game is in your hands.
Hopefully. But knowing my luck with this game matching my wants, probably not. ![]()
I'm really happy for you all. I expected and was routing for you all to get your m/m Dorian.
That being said, I am sorry for those who are disappointed by it. -gives you cookies-
He will still be an awesome companion by the looks of it !
-spreads my overwhelming positivity-
Edit: IF he is LI. But the fact he is EXCLUSIVELY gay is a big deal for those who feel they're represented.
Written by D.Gaider, the first male gay LI, and outcast yet idealist...
Oh, just as I expected XD
He seems like a fun character to have around, I'll love to hear his frenemyship with Vivienne ![]()
Yeah, i'm really surprised by that. Seems like the women here who wanted a f/m romance with him are more mature and respectful than the dudes
when they found out Sera is gay. God, the comments.... and of course there were some men who were respectful too (i didn't forget about you guys
)
Makes me wonder why the Sera thread got so much hostility...
I'm really happy for you all to finally get a gay male companion.
Also Viv and Dorian? God yes please, i'm sO going to add them to my party. If only Sera would get along well with them so it would be the sass party.
I'm very happy to hear this news but at the same time feel sad for those who wanted a f/m romance with him. My condolences.
I'm only slightly sad since...I mean.....look at the other options for a straight female player.
Visually, none of them are very appealling, Dorian was the most visually *hawt*.
*sigh* Well, guess I'll have to decide for a F!Quizzy based on *personality*

(Blackwall is a strong second choice based on the beard....but for some reason I don't see him being a Li)
I usually play male characters, but I was hoping he'd be bisexual, because none of the other men or women companions seem fun to romance for any of my other characters.

*munchies happily on cookies* Mmm cookies.
And yes agreed. It is good there's a openly gay male companion ![]()
And while my first PT is male he's not romancing anyone. I'll probably romance Dorian on my third PT.
As for attractive males yeah the only one that I find visually appealing is Cullen. But there's still IB who hopefully has an awesome personality so that'll do.

I don't like playing gay male characters. I can do it to experience content, but they are not what I would call my favorite playthroughs.
Again that was not what you said.

Do we know those characters are straight or bi, or can they possibly be another gay option? I've stopped assuming things since every time I do I get stung.
This is nice news. I didn't mind how romances worked out in DA2, but I honestly think the characters have more of a sense of individuality when there are different sexual orientations spread out throughout them. It makes the romances seem more special to me. I don't often make male characters but when I inevitably do, the first one will be reserved for Dorian... plus being a guy will be one of the few ways I'll be able to resist Sera. ![]()
People complained about romances in Dragon Age II for being to inclusive, now we see complaints about them being gender-exclusive...
I wish the general public could make up their minds, or at least stop drooling over the characters like pieces of meat.
Sometimes I wonder, I guess.
WHAT!?! I'm so excited by this!
I know that he hasn't technically been confirmed as an LI yet, but it's looking highly likely now.
Okay, I have to officially offer my condolences to the ladies on the forum who were just as interested in Dorian as we gay guys were. I understand how frustrating it is to have a handsome male companion LI and not have access to his romance, so I genuinely feel bad for you in this respect.
That being said, I have to say that I am BEYOND thrilled that Bioware is not only writing another gay male (only the second one ever), but also chose to make him a companion (the FIRST EVER), as well as a handsome, dashing guy. I have, literally, been waiting for this moment for 16 years. And it is as good as I was hoping it would be.
THANK YOU BIOWARE! Truly, thank you.
This made me smile...I'm really happy for you guys, it's about time! ![]()
I'm just hoping that it will still be possible to have a good, deep, platonic friendship with him by either gender. Friendship always seems to take second place in the outcomes at the end. Zevran said he wanted to stay around as a friend but then the epilogue says everyone leaves pretty quickly after events and then he ends up alone on Sundermount. Fenris said he wanted to stay around as a friend but that particular romance was with Sebastian so in the end my Hawke was left with nobody because the epilogue didn't recognise the Seb romance and only the love interest ever stays by Hawkes' side. Are friends in DA world really so shallow?
I'm still disappointed that the "stereotypically gay" idea turned out to be true.
I have run out of likes for the first time ever, so just imagine me really enjoying all these posts about how fantastic Bioware is for introducing a gay companion.
It's pretty special!
I'm still disappointed that the "stereotypically gay" idea turned out to be true.
Part of that could be playing to stereotypes only to subvert them - and I can't see David writing a stereotypical character in a million years.
Dorian might be witty and even vain, but he's also fiercely intelligent, political, and considered. There's a lot more depth to the character (even before we've actually met him in the game) than a stereotype would have.

I am someone hoping for Varric. I mean, I am very doubtful of it but as a female player (Who LOVED Isabela's romance more than any other in DA) I'm open for Sera, and look forward to seeing how that is and hope it's as good.
Also, I love playing characters not effected by Romance so...I may do my first PT like yours, except female.
I have an idea. You've frequently whined to the Sera thread that your male characters can't romance her
You're now whining in this thread your female chacters can't romance Dorian
Why not have the males you wanted to romance sera, romance Dorian, and the females tou wanted o eomance him romance sera. Everyone wins and you can stop making the same complaints in multiple threads over and over and over
Because it's not as simple as "Swap A for B". I had those characters planned for more than "I want them to bang *insert character here*". But I've said my piece. Any further 'whining' is me responding to people.

I never complained about DA2's system. I've always thought it was a great system.
