There goes the only decent option for women. I'm glad I didn't preorder, probably won't bother until this game is on sale now. Could we maybe get fenris back? I'd play for another fenris romance.

I'm not sure how I feel about Beardy McWarden. They introduced him to us and gave us some info but I still feel like I don't really have a pulse on his personality. For me, it is always about the personality. For our sake, I hope Varric is an option.
I don't know why I can't get into playing as a man. I've tried a few times but I never finish. (again, had to have the achievement or I probably wouldn't of at all). When I play as a female, I feel like characters are reacting to me. When I play as a male, I feel like characters are reacting to that guy on the screen. Weird, I know, since I play RPGs. So, I will just have to live through all of you when it comes to romancing Dorian. (insert sigh here).
I've always been okay with playing dudes (provided it is OPTIONAL) because while there was a certain distance between "me" and "dude on screen," I like to change up what I'm staring at sometimes. And once they added voiced protagonists, I've always felt like they're reacting to that person on the screen rather than me, so making the leap to dudes is a million times easier, I think. I felt more like my Hawkes were "mine" than I ever felt about my Shepards, but I never felt they were me. So that's probably the difference between us.
I get what you're saying about Blackwall, we really know very little about him ... but we don't know much about Dorian either, in the grand scheme. My gut, petty snap judgement is that I'd like Blackwall better than Solas (and IB might be fun but not for my dwarfquisitor). I already know DO NOT WANT for Cullen. ![]()

So him being bi wouldn't be believable?
That isn't what they were saying whatsoever. It's believable because gay people exist-- and deserve representation.

Ah, ok. That's why I was asking. I didn't know what they meant.

By sheer coincidence, I was watching the IGN rewind from April early today, and one of the journalists conjectured that Dorian was Alistair with his hair dyed. Go figure.

Nope, nope, keep Dorian as he is.

Ironically, Fenris was written with a male Hawke in mind. lol

The real problem I have with the screenshot we got is combining his eye color, skin color, and that lighting together makes him look really sickly and yellow. He's looked fine in the other screenshots, which is why that reveal picture is a bit disappointing.
No helping the mustache though, painting it in does, ironically, make it look less painted on
Just had a good laugh about that, cuz it's too true lol.

I know! It seems like women are always forgotten in the bioware office. Us women do play, you know! I'd love some eye candy, but sadly I don't feel too good about those prospects.
Strange, I recall an announcement of a woman only romance previous to this one.
And the majority of Dragon Age's writers were female for DA:O and DA II.

Eh. He's definitely Italian/Greek/Turkish like. He also looks like he could show up at one of my family events (we're Hispanic/Native American/White) with no one batting an eye. so he's definitely not Anglo and I am liking that.
edit: you can't say a word that is common for white where I am from on the forums. The more you know moment
I won't deny that he's not Anglo/Germanic, but I thought "white" covered a wider range than that.

Woman only romances are usually hyped up for men. They aren't how lesbians actually interact, point Samantha Traynor. Porn for men. No thanks.

How would you say that lesbians "actually interact" that is not included in Samantha's romance?

I tend to think that he looks like he would be the Thedosian equivalent of a Mediterranean (either Greek or Italian) man. So, yeah, I view him as a darker skinned white guy, but I might be wrong.
I also have a thing for blond hair and glasses. I'll add pale complexion as well. So, in theory, Dorian shouldn't really be my type. But my favorite Bioware LI's previously were Kaidan and Sky, so maybe pale, bespectacled blonds aren't my type after all and Bioware is just helping me realize this!
White definitely covers a wider range. I'm Italian, and my skin is only a bit lighter then Dorian (certainly not as person from Northern Europe) and I'd be called White.I won't deny that he's not Anglo/Germanic, but I thought "white" covered a wider range than that.

Sera, the f/f romance, isn't for women. Dorian, the m/m romance, is certainly for men.
Because a lesbian character must be porn for men?

for a long time Italians weren't considered "white". One of my relatives, back when Native Americans had to have a ration card in the United States to do anything, would try and pass as Italian. He was still treated like poop for that, but he could not be arrested.

They don't interact like they are shooting a porno for men. Pretty much her entire presence there was being eye candy for male gamers who were playing women. She wasn't put in there for women who are gay. Besides, Sera isn't attractive. I feel like a lot of the companions aren't nearly as attractive as they were in DAO and DA2. So odd to me.

Tevinter is based on ancient Rome. Black hair and grown eyes were certainly more common then blond hairs and blue eyes in the Romans.
more common=//=all
And Tevinter is also partially based on the Byzantine Empire, which controlled the Balkans for large periods of time, where blond hair and blue eyes are quite possible.

Because they are almost ALWAYS written that way. I'm saying this is a woman who is queer. So please step off that b.s. The game industry is heavily sexist. FF romances are usually geared towards male gaze. Either way, it is my preference I don't have to defend it. I'm not interested as a queer woman being bombarded with porno for men. It isn't attractive to me.

Dorian is perfect the way Bioware made him. He's already the hottest character they've ever made. People should just stop trying to top it, not gonna happen.
Dorian is the hottest DA:I companion. Agreed.

When you say that Sera isn't for women despite women obviously liking her, and the Dragon Age team not making any previous f/f romance 'porn for men,' I'm going to disagree with you.
That's you conflating an LI that doesn't do much for you with no LI at all.
