Like others have said, I suggest everyone take a breather and take the conversation about race elsewhere. There are points people have brought up that I want to comment on really bad, but I know it won't help this topic.
It'll suck if this thread that's trying to celebrate Dragon Age's first gay character gets locked down. And I think we should realise that certain commenters that only pop up when an argument starts to put fuel in the fire are here just for that.
I wonder how long before you see a pony version of Dorian. I heard that if it exists, there's a pony of it.
I was excited when Vivienne was announced. I don't think Bioware is depicting PoC as any less than anyone else. Seriously look at Vivienne, she could DESTROY people. 
Also I think Scribbles is a PoC, which is really great, I want to romance her.
ALSO, I think Dorian looks white, but for me that encompasses a lot of people. Look at Denarius, he was Tevinter + white. It shouldn't disappoint you if Dorian is darker skinned or not. Skin color shouldn't define you who are.

I agree with that, maybe the next game we'll go to Tevinter. But slavery is just... disgusting.
I'm sure the player would be allowed to express disgust, indifference, or support when discussing Tevinter with this theoretical companion.
Tevinter is one of the most important nations in the setting and I would like to hear more about them from someone other than a victim or antagonists in quests. Yes, even if their values are reprehensible by our standards.

If we don't meet his family I at least very much would like him to talk about them because I was thinking about that too! Do you think they'd sort of disown him? Public image is very important to Tevinter families, no?

I desperately want for him to have some kind of past with Fenris/Leto, even if it's a minor thing like "Oh yes, when I was a child we had this white haired elf slave..." flippantly and Varric goes "... Wait a minute..."

Oh I definitely agree, hopefully Dorian will bring some Tevinter culture with him. I think he's only rejected the moral bankruptcy within Tevinter, and not necessarily it's culture. Unless they're the same thing

I'd love it if we get to meet someone from his family. They apparently are one of the ancient-blooded Altus families, which makes the whole dynamic even more interesting!

I don't think we'll probably meet his family because we're not going to Tevinter. I think Alexius and his son are probably it.

I am really interested in this. It sounds like, from what little Gaider described in the QA, that Dorian's idealism/struggle against Tevinter issues dovetails nicely with his sexuality. So, it could be quite fascinating and poignant.
I'm also really interested to hear what Tevinter is like, and what exactly Dorian has a problem with. It kind of sounded like it has something to do with the Plot of DAI. Maybe he's a future oriented person, who disagrees with the mistakes of the past, and thinks Tevinter should be trying to better itself instead of fighting for past glories?

I would only want Fenris to appear if it made sense for him to be there. Otherwise, just a neat wee easter egg mention wouldn't go a miss. 
When I heard witty, charming, and a rebel, I hope he turns out like Marshall Lee. My favorite character from Adventure time, my first cartoon crush.

That piece of fanart is seriously making me consider rolling a Dalish rogue rather than the scruffy human I had in mind. But that'll mostly depend on the character creator.

I really hope, probably in vain, that we get to rock an outfit like that in DA:I. I've always loved the Dalish, my favorite origin, and I really want my elf inquisitor to be able to represent that! Maybe it can be DLC or something :/
