Dorian's family having Fenris as a slave is a little too direct of a connection for me. Dorian knowing of Danarius' experiments and Fenris by extension wouldn't be so bad. It could come up in conversation about Tevinter.

Soooooo, at the risk of playing with some fire (note, this means I'll be returning to the thread to read up on responses.... choose your decisions to be disrespectful wisely), I don't have any huuuuuge issue over discussing Dorian's appearance.

Internally, Dorian used to be a very anglo-germanic appearance.  Unambiguously white.  As such, I likely have a bias to seeing him as non-white since I have that comparison.  It was a temporary model, so I don't know if this was intentional and then changed for this reason, but I believe that it was.  And I think that this version turned out better than the original version (there was other aspects that were different about his face, although they were often buggy and incomplete).

I'm someone that hasn't really received that much exposure to cultural diversity, by nature of living where I am and not traveling much during my life... so I'm a poor judge but I would have probably placed him as being probably from the middle east or maybe some of the neighbouring locales from there.  Just my two cents on the topic anyways.

Congratz to you all who desired m/m Dorian ^_^...I admit got dissapointed but it lasted so short. Ate five pancakes filled with vanilia ice cream and strawberries and I am totally fine now xD! David G. gave me favourite romance of all time Alistair so I will always treasure it :) it is nice that he got the chance to write something what he really really wanted and he seems so happy and proud. I hope my fem Inq and Dorian get nice friendship and if I like him enough in game I might roll male for the first time and try to romance him if he is rly available. That is all...love for you all in this thread <3

Just remove the mustache. Then he's a stud. He's handsome. He's a bad ass mage. But until then he's Inigo Montoya's annoying brother.

Oh well can't say I'm surprised...  I never get what I want in terms of male bioware love interests. It never ceases to fail. I'm sure he will be a good friend of my inquisitor though.

I remember the first artwork of him being more pale and with light brown hair.

I like the dark skin version better mostly because he's from Tevinter , and it's up north and it's a hot country.

I was afraid the devs would shy away from giving him a tanned skin because Tevinter= slavery.

And it's possible some people would be  offended by seeing POC coming from a land who is supposed to be evil.

I understand it can be seen as bad taste.

Since I think Dorian will not be painted with the evil brush , and I hope Tevinter as a whole (with character like him and Maevaris) will end up looking less like bad guys, it's cool we can enjoy more diversity without hurting people's feeling.

I think I thought he was Greek (maybe Italian if not Greek) when I first saw him. I had an English teacher in high school who was Greek and she had a similar skin type so that's what I based it off of. But, like I said, skin color never really makes a difference to me as far as character goes, I never think about it. I like how Bioware treats race/skin color. They're characters first and skin color is almost irrelevant aside from geography (where they're from). I really like the final Dorian and can't see him as anything else!

Looking at the pics with and without, I mostly find the moustache to be a non-factor in his overall attractiveness.  His hair and general face structure I really like.

I would say he struck me as Greek also, maybe Turkish. But somewhere from around the Mediterranean.

Where I grew up there was a rather significant Greek population, port city so lots of European ethnicities other than just the Scandinavians and Germans.

If Dorian doesn't end up putting on a top hat and ties up a woman on a railroad while twiddling his mustache I'll be extremely upset.

At the risk of sounding stubborn, this is why I said what I said before. Going nuts over such things, no matter how positive or negative they may be, how biased one can get, is kind of foolish. I don't get why people are making a big deal out of him regarding his race equally to the big deal regarding his sexuality, it should be a non-issue, but it apparently is.

Which I guess is fine, but that then depends on perception more than anything else, which is a whole other problem in of itself.

Allan, you're selling Edmonton short. It is pretty diverse these days! Just go to West Edmonton Mall...  :)

Dorian seems like he'll be a pretty interesting character. He has very pretty eyes, you lucky guys out there! I look forward to getting to know him as a companion in my party, and learn about Tevinter from a firsthand account, which will be, presumably, less biased than stuff written by Andrastian monks.   ;)

I desperately want for him to have some kind of past with Fenris/Leto, even if it's a minor thing like "Oh yes, when I was a child we had this white haired elf slave..." flippantly and Varric goes "... Wait a minute..."

Huh... I always thought the experiment was what turned his hair white. It never occurred to me it could be natural but now that I think on it, they never said his hair wasn't originally white.

I'm actually not too fond of his transformation from likable moustached "rogue" to full blown hipster minus the ironic glasses...

Speaking as a guy who normally plays females in Bioware games. I'm honestly considering doing a male run just to romance Dorian, he's so...dashing.

He does look a bit middle eastern in my view although that's a huge place and I am not knowledgeable enough to be specific. He does also look a little greek though or maybe a mix.

I'd like a bit more of an explanation about what exactly was done to Fenris, if possible. Maybe Dorian has some clue as to how many creepy "rip your heart right out of your chest" slave soldiers Tevinter has.

I know that there has been alot Dorian/Fenris slash now, but I'm actually really hoping against this.  I kind of hate these random "cameo" things.  I understand why others like the idea though.

I actually don't think there's been all that much Dorian/Fenris slash, someone on tumblr just has a male elf Inquisitor that really really looks like Fenris. If I'm wrong about this, please correct me asap because I would love see some of this slash Dorian/Fenris sounds like it has so much potential for some wonderfully heartbreaking stories :P

As much as I would love this, I'm pretty sure Leto had black hair (it was the lyrium that turned it white) so it might be harder to make the connection.
