My Dorian romance Inquisitor will be a human mage. He's a legacy character I make in every game that includes customization. I'm excited to play him in Inquisition.

Edit : well now I feel slightly unconfortable , and I hope my wording didn't me make sound racist.
If so I'm sorry. If somebody feel offended I'll remove it.
Edit 2 Removed my post.I'm not sure I've been expressing myself properly and I don't want people to misunderstand.
Again if I offended someone .It wasn't on purpose .
Sorry.

I'm sure that dev comment wasn't about people doing the art of Dorian with the medium skin tone and icy blue eyes before we got a close look at him. I'm sure it was specifically about the edit of him that took an in-game shot, lightened his skin, changed his hair to blond and eyes to blue. It's really obvious and was just made to troll.

Credit where credit is due though, that person did a great editing job.

I didn't know he was a PoC either. I mean, the concept art doesn't show it very well.
Maybe that was the prototype Anglo-Germanic model of Dorian that Allan mentioned a few pages back. I can see why there might be confusion though. I, too, initially thought he was a darker-skinned white guy, but the recent screenshots make him look more of a PoC.
I guess the lighting had me fooled.

Ok can SOMEONE tell me what PoC actually means? I googled it and it's not helping my context confusion.

I wonder what racial inspiration they used for Dorian, though. It seemed like at first people weren't even sure if he wasn't white.
But I'm not saying I ever was cool with him being made aryan, I'm just curious. Mostly because his voice actor is Indian and if he is conceptualized as Indian, I have an Indian friend that would be SUPER excited to hear about him.
John Epler just talked about this in the Twitter thread:
\EDIT: Indian would be the closest real world analogue.

They changed his appearance - he was originally white, earlier in development, when that concept art was made.
Since we've seen him in-game though, he's had his current appearance.
(I remember people talking about the darker skin in the War Room "we are now the Inquisition" trailer thing)

Here is Allan from earlier in the thread, just because I couldn't remember the source for the appearance change comment:
Soooooo, at the risk of playing with some fire (note, this means I'll be returning to the thread to read up on responses.... choose your decisions to be disrespectful wisely), I don't have any huuuuuge issue over discussing Dorian's appearance.
Internally, Dorian used to be a very anglo-germanic appearance. Unambiguously white. As such, I likely have a bias to seeing him as non-white since I have that comparison. It was a temporary model, so I don't know if this was intentional and then changed for this reason, but I believe that it was. And I think that this version turned out better than the original version (there was other aspects that were different about his face, although they were often buggy and incomplete).
I'm someone that hasn't really received that much exposure to cultural diversity, by nature of living where I am and not traveling much during my life... so I'm a poor judge but I would have probably placed him as being probably from the middle east or maybe some of the neighbouring locales from there. Just my two cents on the topic anyways.

So who are you guys planning on romancing Dorian with first? I'm romancing him with my elf mage first which should be interesting.
Dalish elf rogue or Qunari mage. I haven't decided yet. (And hopefully he isn't race gated so I can do both at some point.)
It also depends a bit on the CC, what it allows me to do with my characters...

Dorian's closest ethnic analouge is Indian huh? And he has some familial affiliation to an Empire which he has severe misgivings about?
Dorian is Thedas' Ben Kingsley!

The E3 demo kinda suggests he has an salaciously sexy accent.

David Gaider said a while back that the voice actor would mostly sound British, but that he was Eastern Indian and there would be a hint of that, too. He didn't say the voice actor's name, though.
