Been away from the internet for a while and was hoping to return to news of Dorian.
Super happy now he sounds amazing and I was so hoping he'd be a gay Li. Male inquisitor playthrough has a good reason to happen now!

Less happy at the articles appearing on my Twitter that are making a big deal about his sexuality for click baiting reasons, as if being gay is all he is. IGN's one seemed particularly distasteful.

He is never leaving my team =3

Already sent a tweet back at IGN for thir "incredibly powerful gay mage". I think I know what they're trying to do, that they're actually trying to be positive about the fact that an incredibly powerful mage in a game is also gay, but the way they put it is wrong.

I'm confused. Dorian has the same skin tone as half the Lebanese and Mediterranean population, including me. Are olive skinned people considered people of color too?

 

I've always been considered white according to the USA. You guys need to get your classifications straight

 

Yeah, I feel the same. I am spanish and during summer I get that skin tone no problem, while during winter I get a much much whiter tone.

I dont think you can select a race only by the color of the skin, since we have so many tones in common, so many races.

 

There are many other factors which define a race, characteristics such as eyes, lips, nose, hair, etc. But in a video game, those are not represented since they just mix whatever characteristics they want, without thinking to be really loyal to a race itself.

 

And therefor, you have Dorian. Indian? Yes, I can see it. Spanish? Yes, I can see it. Italian? Yes, I can see it.

 

He is hot? Yes, of course. Dont you know the hottest guys come from a mix of races? Italian/spanish/indian guy? Genetics were in his favor, he was obviously going to be HOT!!!!!

I'd think that's kind of sad. I mean, it took 30+ years to get a playable gay male character in video games? I probably missed out on something there, but Dorian isn't even the main character/protagonist.

 

On the other hand, thank Christ, I've been waiting for a character like Dorian, and I'm eager to play Inquisition and see what he could pull (along with other surprises DA:I has in store).

The cynicism of some of the media outlets is pretty outrageous, really. There are so many better ways to introduce Dorian as a character, and why does he even merit an article of his own when almost none of the other eight companions have got this attention?

 

Putting "gay" in a headline gets attention and clicks, but also a slew of cesspool comments.
