Indeed. Well, I mean, Brokeback Mountain was really popular and it was so romantic.. too bad it (like many LGBT films) had a sad ending. I don't remember seeing super angry boycotts... I am probably wrong.

 

edit: Sorry that seems OT, I just mean like, it seems the general public have been open to gay romances being depicted in films, so why not games? 

 

I think... It might have to do with the fact that homophobia seems to be more prominent in the gaming community compared to those of other medium of entertainment. And, like what you said, they love sharing their opinions...

Well, of course I had to read the comments now.   
I didn't find it as bad as I thought it would be. Some puns in bad taste, comments that are not homophobic but ignorance as to what this means for the LGBT community, people who are bothered with this being news rather than being upset that there is a gay character. Though I just went through the first page. I don't think most of them were intentionally trying to be mean, low empathy perhaps. I can see how it can be viewed that way, but then I've been told I'm a bit optimistic in my assessment of people.. So I could be wrong.

So anybody else planning to run Dorian/Vivienne/Solas around for the banter? I'm picturing Dorian and Solas having long talks about esoteric magic which nearly gives Vivienne a seizure because it's Not Approved. All while Dorian tries to get Solas to dress better.

I played Fallout NV with a male courrier , sort of a punk guy ...I was so disappointed there was no romance.

I've always wondered if they wanted to make romances in this game , but didn't have time to do it.

A full mage party could be very strong I think. Lots and lots of crowd control capabilities. Then just nuke everything...

When one of the Dorian articles was tweeted I stupidly read some of the Twitter replies. Did get a chuckle out of one guy who claimed that there was no place for homosexuality in a fantasy.

Beeecause, what? Heterosexual relationships are all magical and rainbows but homosexual ones are too much gritty realism? 

 

I want to crawl inside their brains so I can try and understand the logic.

 

Then more of it was just complaints about it being attention seeking.

I see it more as David Gaider being really excited that he is actually allowed to write this type of character. I find that progress worth celebrating, that and all the enthusiasm for Dorian both from him and in here is just making me sooo excited about meeting him.

 

Although It's making me feel even more of a dork because while all these articles and comments were making a big deal out of his sexuality, I was over here going 'OMG, he's from Tevinter?'

I like imagining him with Blackwall.  Pairing the dapper Dorian with a big bear like Blackwall makes me very happy.  I'll probably make my inquisitor into a similar type of guy.

The gay thing is YEAH. But I have always been interested in Tevinter. Loved Fenris´s backstory. Can´t wait till Tevinter will be more fleshed out. Hopefullu DA4 will be in Tevinter and maybe the slave liberation. That would be so awesome!

I think I am going to have to play a male inquisitor. To play a romance arc meant to be homosexual from the get go that really IS unique to the industry.  If anyone can pull it off without being campy it's Bioware Zevs romance was beautiful male or female but since I had the option I always played as a female. This for me enhances replayability. I hope the romance is beautiful.
