Indeed. And yet, it seems to be a commonly recurring phrase.
but only with the guys. They create much better story lines for the girls. Sometimes I think the devs prefer female companions. x_x

I don't know about you guys, but my "head canon" wheels are already turning with the announcement of Dorian as a m/m LI. I realize that companion specializations haven't been disclosed, but I'm already thinking of a necromancy theme for my male (obviously) mage Inquisitor:
Necromancy specialization + Dorian romance + bog unicorn = awesome!
I've always been partial to necromancy and the undead, so I was super-excited that it's going to be an option.
I'm sad every time someone brings up the bog unicorn. It crushed my dreams.
... Am I the only one picturing Vivienne and Dorian contemplating how to make the Bog Unicorn less... bog unicorn-y.
... I'm tired and I've slept badly so I'm kinda picturing pink bows right now okayI'lljustshowmyselfout.

DORIAN: [STEPS BACK] [HAIR COVERED IN GLITTER] I think that's an improvement. It can't be worse, certainly.
VIVIENNE: [PRYING HER GLUED-TOGETHER FINGERS APART] The streamers do help give the wretched thing some semblance of life. And glitter can never go wrong. But what about the smell?
DORIAN: What smell?
VIVIENNE: ... Right, necromancer, never mind.
I am rather disappointed that he is the gay one, not that it is a huge deal but here's my reasons:
1. I would've loved to have seen the shitstorm if he had turned out to be the straight love interest.
2. He seems to me to be rather.. rather crudely put: the Obvious Choice for a gay only romance. but that's just my opinion.

Sure, if handsome and confident can be considered "gay" traits. We'll take that as a compliment.
No as an Exclusively gay thing no, I was thinking more the Daringly flamboyant Epic 'stache thing. A Freddie Mercury of Thedas if you will.

I'm glad he's handsome, confident and smart. Can't imagine a better gay option than him. And I like guys with eyeliner. So, I'm really glad he's the gay option. I don't care if it's stereotypical that he wears eye liner. It suits him, as well as his moustache. And he's just great. : )

he's not described as being flamboyant. where did you get that?
Thought he was straight, only because I assume everyone is until something suggests otherwise. Is it the twirl? I need an upgrade, the gay radar, I have it not.
The fanart in this thread ![]()
Am I the only one who wants to see Dorian in just his toga towel skirt? He's so dreamy. ![]()
I like his outfit a lot , makes me hopeful for some cool mages armor in game .
Althought I wonder how hisdifferent outfits would look , I like him wearing white.
And mage hat on Dorian!...I'm not sure how it's going to work with the toggle helmet.I mean what about Vivienne?
I really like her hats , so I don't know what I'm going to do .

Not to stir an argument or anything but flamboyant also means dashing so I think it is an appropriate adjective as he technically has dashing in his quote does he not? Just my opinion I guess.
Edit: proof-http://dictionary.re...owse/flamboyant

okay, I'm not that good in english. my dictionary said something different, but maybe it's easier to compare the words if you're a native speaker.
I think people get offended hearing "flamboyant" because it's often used in a semi-to-outright insulting way to describe gay men that act like the Hollywood stereotype.

Yea that's why I said that I did not want to stir an argument. Personally, to me, it is a word like any other. It is sad that it often gets depicted as an insult though.

to be honest, there are some stereotypes among gay men that I really like. being dashing and smart is one of them. Maybe it's a little selfish, but I'm really glad he's the m/m option and not straight. I always wanted the first gay character to be clever, smart, handsome, brilliant, sharp tongued and kind of "bitchy" in a good way (as shown in the conversations with Vivienne, which I hope will be quite funny). I would have been very sad, if he was just an usual nice or reserved guy. And I really adore his look. He's the first male character in Bioware games I'm optically attracted to.

I'm a straight guy and I still like Dorian's character romance or not. In videogames I have no problem roleplaying PCs that romances different characters like Dorian.
I cannot wait to hear conversations between Dorian and Vivienne. They appear to have a love-hate relationship from what I'm seeing.
Btw I've been asking how we are going to meet some of the companions. How does everyone think we are going to meet Dorian?

I agree, honestly. I think characters like Steve from ME, where they seem to be actively trying to avoid making them a stereotype, produces a pretty boring character. There was literally nothing about Steve that was memorable or interesting for me. He's absolutely, definitely not a stereotype, that's one thing you can say is sure about him. He's also entirely forgettable, to me.
I love the Dorian concept. One of my biggest fears going into the new "set sexualities" era was that the gay men would be made hyper-masculinized brutes to prove they weren't making gay stereotypes. Personally, I'm thrilled that Dorian shows they absolutely weren't going to mire themselves down in attempts to avoid any possible stereotype. I absolutely trust that the Bioware team knows the difference between a "gay stereotype" and a gay man that doesn't knock every "gender stereotype" out of the park. Because that's what people are really saying when they say Dorian is gay stereotype, they're saying that he doesn't fit their ideal gender stereotypes closely enough. He needs to be bulked up and rubbed in a bit more dirt before he gets there.
