I don't even know what to think about race gating, honestly. I don't know how extensive it will be. They've said not every character will be race gated. It could be almost every character or it could be only one character. It's something they've never done before, so I couldn't even guess.
In general, though, I'd have less concern for romancing Dorian with an elf than a dwarf.

True but that mostly seemed to be a within the fan base issue. I didn't notice nearly as much talk of bioware pushing the gay agenda and shoving gay people and their "lifestyle" down peoples thoughts.
I don't know if it's a gift or a curse to lesbians that they never seem to get as much attention as gay men. On the one hand they don't get as much abuse but on the other they have to play second fiddle to gay men and that can't be fun or good for them tbf. Gay men will always get more attention it seems, is it all just because straight men find lesbian sex attractive and gay sex repulsive?

To be honest, though, I don't really think there's been that negative of a response. The articles being written generally call this a positive thing. The comments are mixed. I read the IGN comments, myself, and while there were a lot of jerks, there were also many people defending Bioware's decision and explaining why this is a big deal for some people. I don't think this is really going too badly.

The fear of gay men stems from sexism against women. But that's all I'm going to contribute. This is getting way too into sexual orientation when that's not only just one part of the character, but completely off topic.

It annoys me so much, I've seen people posting that they're sick of seeing homosexuality blasted in their faces once again. It's not like Dorian's sexuality will be core to the story at least not likely, it's just something you can explore as a player if you decide to do so. I sure don't kick up a fuss seeing 95% of games focus on straight relationships, though I guess my argument would be a lot stronger than their and their gay-hate. Dorian's sexuality could be argued as small, but it's a nice touch to associate with personality trait like this included within the series.

In a way, I sort of wonder if the "Dorian and Felix had a relationship and their parents didn't approve" plot possibility is what they're using for the basis that set sexuality creates a "more fully fleshed out" character.

It's definitely not a gift for lesbians to be sexually objectified, exploited, and utilized for straight men's sexual desires and approval. Lesbians get plenty of (negative) attention, it is just also shown in different ways. It's through society's heteronormative dude lenses, "lesbians' value is only in getting me off" vs. "gay men touching has no sexual interest to me so therefore it has no value, grosssssss."

There have been quite a few psychological studies on the matter. In one study I can remember the parameters off the top of my head, a sample group of men (straight, gay, and bi) were chosen. Those who reported willingness to engage in a sexual relationship with other men were made to watch lesbian porn. Those men who said "no" were subjected to watching gay porn (hey, they signed up for the study and probably got paid). There were multiple combinations (straight men who watched lesbian porn and s/s attracted men who watched gay porn). After they performed a variety of tasks meant to measure aggression. They found the men who watched lesbian porn had no significant change, but the straight men who watched gay porn (and didn't like it, they measured their brain activity) exhibited greater aggressive behavior, even being willing to hurt another person.
Sigh. There were a lot of these studies with similar results and made me super depressed. I have a collection of these studies for citation when I proposed my own study. If anyone is interested, PM me and I can link them.
