It makes sense for circle mages to not being trained into any martial art /or to fight with weapons.

The fact that templars can keep them from casting , give them the edge.

If mages could fight well without magic trick, templars wouldn't be so effective ...

But for apostates , or people from Tevinter , you'd think they'd learn to fight at least with their staff.

On a side note , I like the new animations I saw for mages , when they hold their staff in front on them like they want to parry something , and throw arcane bolts with their hand.

If I remembered correctly, I read that there should be some sort of metal armor concealed under her silk blouse. The heels though... Maybe they're enchanted with a stabilising spell?

Here I'm really hoping he would be all dramatic and showy (and all over the place sort of like Oberyn) in the way he fights.

I had enough of showy combat in DA2.

Me when playing DA2: "NO ONE CAN PHYSICALLY MOVE AROUND THAT QUICKLY FFSOIFJOAIGJ"

Not to mention the *one handed* two handed weapon swings. Fenris looks like a damn Ballerina with that sword...

well to be fair, at least the mages got an upgrade with staff bashing unlike the just point and shoot in origins.

I confess, I loved playing a mage just so I could twirl that staff like a mofo.

All I know is that I can already see Dorian teasing my mage elf quizzy in every way possible.

It was a bit over the top. Half of the times I wanted to take a screenshot picture during battle, my Hawke was showing his ass to the enemy.

Even if the twirling was silly, it was still better than DA:O's "poking dead squirrel" motion.

The animation for mages running in DA:O suggested nothing so much as a desperate need to release one's bowels.

It never bothered me, tbh. I know a lot of people found it funny but I was fine with it...

You could also say that they had a very bad case of thigh heat-rash.

I will always advocate for DA2's visual combat style over DAO's.

First of all I RESENT you saying the word, "advocate" ,since you are certainly visual combat style, instead of prefer SECOND YOU ARE NOT BIOWARE I IGNORE YOU goodbye

Oh dear, I may have created a meme.

But srsly, it's at least fun to look at. DAO's style is tolerable, but it's not in and of itself enjoyable.

I always thought the walking animation was the after picture in that unfortunate scenario.

So... Dorian...

So which Inquisitor is everyone using to romance Dorian? :L

I'm going with human mage (Knight Enchanter) first. Then with a dalish, either a mage (Rift Mage) or rogue (Assassin) or maybe warrior (Champion). Then with a dwarf (rogue (Artificer) or warrior (Reaver)). Then maybe another human mage (Necromancer). I might go with a Qunari rogue too, though I might pick the Iron Bull for that playthrough... And I have to admit, romancing him with a Templar has its own merits...

Anyways, that's way too many playthroughs, so I don't think they'll all happen.

I thought it just looked like the fancy topper of a staff. The extra prong look liked it was to switch to melee combat for wielding a staff. I can squint and see what you guys mean, but I guess I never saw it that way. To each their own on that one. :)

And here I am, in the Dorian thread, discussing the finer points of his old staff, and counting the prongs. Here's the rest of us, that can't stop talking about his hard...long...brown...strong...staff or sword from the concept art.
