It doesn't seem like Leliana and Dorian get along in the clip we saw, so maybe Schmooples can be the bridge that fosters a connection. 

 

Or he'll actually think Schmooples is gross, which I wouldn't be surprised if he and Vivienne both did, I'll be honest. lol

I've read David's interview many times and all I heard was his genuine elation to write for Dorian, a character that obviously means a great deal to him. I always took the "fully gay" comment to mean that Dorian is the first openly gay character he's ever written. There's a huge difference between legitimate biphobia and screaming biphobia because a character isn't available for the player character of your preferred gender.

It wasn't that.  It was the use of the term "fully gay," that had some people crying that the DA team is now "biphobic."  Personally, I believe the same you did, but that's where the complaints were coming from.

To be fair, bisexual erasure is a real concern, and there is an underlying fear by some of us that the bi/pan community is going to be shoved aside again.  I think some folks jumped the gun in this case, but I can see why they were worried.

 

However, I personally don't feel, nor have I ever felt, that the DA team has ever tried to commit biphobia.  I took David's comment about the subject as his way to stating that yes, Dorian is gay and not bisexual.  That's all I think he meant.  As some others have said (either here or in the Romance thread,) GaymerX is right around the corner and they'll probably introduce the bi LIs at that point.

I always find it funny how these issues are as important as they are popular, only a few years ago almost nobody cared that much about bi issues and many people I knew didn't like bisexuality all that much and didn't seem to understand why that was a bad thing. The whole "they are selfish" they would just cheat with the other gender" thing was the norm. Many gay guys refused to date bi men because they did not believe a bi man would ever commit to another man. 

 

Now Bi issues are in the spotlight a bit more and suddenly everyone cares. I would also say the same thing about trans issues tbf.
