I've gotten pretty attached to the idea of DHMG being Dorian in game and I also really want him as a LI. If it doesn't pan out, I'll be honest, I'll be disappointed. At the same time, I know nobody ever promised my head canon would make the game cut. I might cry on the inside, but I'll take it with dignity on the outside. lol

Same here. I usually try to avoid getting too invested in the pre-release speculation phase, but I've gotten overly attached to this guy! I think it must be the magic power of the 'stache. Too much allure to resist.

Me, too. At first I was going along with it kind of ironically, but he's somehow become my most anticipated companion aside from Vivienne. I think finding out he's not a companion/love interest will require some quality time with a pint of AmeriCone Dream.

Wow. I know that feel. I was just telling someone that, with Varric already confirmed, those were the two characters I wanted most

 

I did this before DA2, as well, even though I knew it was probably a very poor choice. Thankfully, that time it was Anders I wanted, so it worked out. In fact, he ended up being my favorite companion I've ever had in a Bioware game, so . . .

I'm in agreement with you all.

 

I jumped into the Dragon Age series after DA2, so this is the first time I've followed a DA title before launch. I told myself I wouldn't get too attached to any rumours, but I've always loved Bioware's characters and all that are rumored for Inquisition sound really great. I'll be sad whoever doesn't make it, but Dorian most of all.

There wasn't and will never be anyone I want confirmed as much as him. Him and that ridiculously amazing 'stache are all I want.

I won't lie, at first I wanted Solas to be featured on Follower Friday but now all I want is DHMG being confirmed. I need that 'stache in my game. I need dem hands too.

I'm quietly sort of confident that he's Dorian.

We do need a third mage, he's the only character we've seen in the screenshots with the party who could be a mage, and I do think that the survey is largely accurate despite dev comments to the contrary. It just seems way too late to be changing up the characters in August 2012, when they were originally set to release a year later. DHMG is above Sera in the art section just like Dorian is above Sera in the companion descriptions. Don't forget that at the same time David Gaider confirmed Solas in the Solas thread (here in the character forums) he indirectly confirmed that Dorian did, or does, exist.

Then there's a whole lot of meta stuff, like the way in which his view of magic would bounce off Solas' and Vivienne's, and Inquisition seems to have a fairly significant Tevinter-related plotline with the Venatori. The character concept in the survey looks very similar to other Tevinter mages in HoDA and World of Thedas, and his War Room art has a kind of dandy mage feel to it.

I'd be surprised if DHMG wasn't Dorian (or someone who ends up close to that concept), because it means a whole lot of people have managed to completely misinterpret the information that's out there.

I'd all but given up on the Dorian concept when I heard we weren't going to Tevinter. The 3/3/3 confirmation is what's given me hope that he could still be in.

Way I figure it, the Dorian concept works better out of Tevinter. While we're in Tevinter we don't need a companion to tell us about it as much as we can see it all for ourselves.
