And, the outfit could be locked if you look at the picture the Dorian's robe is in red. So they could be saying that the companion outfits are locked, or you can wear them but they are a different style so you're really not wearing that armor.

I wonder if they hadn't announced that Dorian was gay, whether it would be apparent in his behavior or a surprise mid-game? Some people, some time ago, were talking in the Sera thread about whether they'd want to be able to flirt with her as a Manquisitor and be shot down or just not be able to at all. I kind of thought it would be like in DA2 when you could flirt with Aveline (Why don't you love me) or Varric. You can flirt, but they will just brush it off like you were joking with them.

Also, you need to post this on the Solas thread and watch them flip out.

I have a headcanon for a Hawke that went to Varric after Fenris blanking leaves you and him not taken advantage of her fragile emotional state but her internalizing that it wouldn't have happened if he just hadn't turned her down. ):
I "romanced" Vega in one ME3 playthrough with a FemShep that had previously been forever alone. Not satisfying. It was however humorous to headcanon a background romance with (actual spoiler)

As I posted before, it's one of the few that currently make sense to me (that and Iron Bull, simply for reasons of the size difference between dwarf and qunari character models).

 

It hardly seems worth it to cut the m/m option off from any Inquisitor races, only because they'd be reducing the already small number of fans who could ever actually see that content.

If the race gating is because of costs, and animating the scenes. Wouldn't it make more sense that it is for IB and Varric? 
If people like Dorian or Cass or whatever is race gated against say, Dwarves. That should mean all humans ought to be no?  If they hadn't had the resources to create cinematic for such a romance. Elves and Humans are rather similar in height, so them as well. Even you as a human character. No? But there are only two.

Dorian is basically the character I wanted to create if we ever got the option to be a Tevinter Mage. He's almost the tevinter Mage 'me'

Then a thought occurred to me.

Yeah. There's three more. A lot of people are thinking it'll be 2/4/2. It's not confirmed or anything, just speculation.

I think it could pretty easily be a combination. There may be a "story reason" and yet Iron Bull was chosen to have that reason just because his build is so awkward.

They don't necessarily exist in a vacuum.  If you know you have constraints, you can design content to fit within those constraints.

 

Or maybe CinDesign just worked some epic shifts to make the gating less of an issue!  Could be a lot of things

Things is ressources and story/character design are tied.

Since making those game is really really expansive.

 

Same way the Iron Bull will probably be race gated and could say to an Elven or dwarf warrior who just ride a dragon and pummel it to death...you're too fragile , I can't have sex with you.
