I think it could pretty easily be a combination. There may be a "story reason" and yet Iron Bull was chosen to have that reason just because his build is so awkward.
This is also a really good point.
If animations were a part of it, I don't think they'd necessarily apply to Dorian, though obviously we know nothing about how this system works.

The more screenshots I see of Dorian, the more convinced I am that he's basically a gay mage version of Errol FLynn. He just needs to swing from a chandler to make it complete.

Honestly, Dorian slays me and I havent' even heard his voice clearly yet. There's just so much about him that I want to learn. I'm even willing to play the game subtitleless becuase i usually end up reading the subtitles and ignore the actual events, but now that everything coughDoriancough is all pretty I have something better to look at while plot is being thrown at my face.

Modern Tevinter is always shown in an evil light... but then you get all the old Magister relics/magic and people like Eleni Zinovia and it's like DAMN. I want to know about that. Do they have that stuff everywhere? What's the good bits about a place run by magic? Fenris gave me the bad, now I want the good.
I skip scenes a lot if I use subtitles so I try not to. Unless it's The Old Republic... I skip most conversations...

I'm looking forward to this too! How Sten described the Qunari home city made me want to see it SO BAD. It sounds so atmospheric and oddly romantic. ;n;
