No clue who the Elder One is, but it sounds something very Cthulu-esque. No clue if it's the big bad or if it's just another major force that's working within Thedas.Reopening the rift isn't the problem. The problem is what is on the other side of the rift. Who is the Elder One?

The Elder One does sound like a powerful being. Maybe some sort of ancient and powerful demon or considering this has to do with Alexius, a powerful ancient magister like Corypheus. Which begs the question, is Corypheus the only surviving ancient magister or are there more left?

I'm kind of curious what flavor of mage he's supposed to be in relation to Vivenne and Solas. Basically, is he a nuker, healer, or controller?
I get the feeling he's a nuker or at least a purely offensive mage, since his description and the demo made it seem like he has a whole range of elemental abilities. And in other games at least, necromancy is used to raise armies of formerly dead enemies to fight by your side temporarily, which makes me purely offensive/defensive.
I'm thinking Vivienne is the controller and Solas is the healer.

I'm oddly okay if the big bad in DAI was Cthulu. He is a fun read.

I'm pretty sure that roar we heard was a dragon's right before Leliana said "the Elder One..."
So one of those great dragons awakened from it's slumber? An Old God that hasn't been tainted by the Dark Spawn? Something else entirely?

Rumor has it that there might have been a few other deities that existed outside of the original 7.But I thought all the Old Gods were underground and not in the Fade?

Well, yes, but that doesn't mean one can't be involved in some way. I'm just throwing around speculation like everyone else, and the Old Gods are, well, dragons. ![]()
I think finding out more about those 'great dragons' is more likely in this game, though. There's a lot of dragon motif going around and it seems like an opportunity for it.

Well the Elves had the Creators and their enemies, the Forgotten Ones.

Fair point. I wonder if the entity that F worked for was indeed the Elder One.

So, let me try to get the theory straight. Flemeth and Fen'harel teamed up to take out the Old Gods and the Creators. This would help with the theory that Flemeth is the Old God of Mystery. Then, after trapping the Old Gods in the earth and the Creators in the Fade Flemeth and Fen'harel turn on each other. And, in the fight Flemeth sealed Fen'harel in the Fade and destroyed his body, or trapped him full body in the Fade.

Talking about Dorian's specialty, he might be a more offensive mage, but not exactly a "nuker" a.k.a. not a spell-spamming kind of mage. Maybe his special skills involve damage over time? Or maybe since he has a lot of spirit-like abilities, he could absorb the lifeforce of dead/living enemies and become a tank-mage. Who knows? D:

Hmmm, I'm kinda on board with Flemeth as Razikale. However, I wonder if Fen'Harel, as the Trickster, is simply another form of her, or another Aspect of her power. So, let me try to get the theory straight. Sadly, he'd have no interest in me. He'd totally be my best friend, though!
