With Iron Bull being ungated, anyone else a bit paranoid that they might have Dorian race gated?
Yes. And I don't like it.

I really want to see that romance chart they mentioned ![]()

Dorian without his moustache makes baby Andraste cry.
OMG this is my first time seeing this. He looks like Anton Chigurh with shorter hair:

I'm kind of hoping that the race gates will be the next two love interests they reveal. But honestly, we don't have any real idea since it's apprent that gating has nothing to do with animation, but with plot thanks to Iron Bull being free in every single way. I really hope this isn't the case though. Would it be too awkward for Dorian to love an elf depsite Tevinter treating them like as slaves
I wanted to make our romance even more forbidden than it already was with respect to Tevinter Culture.
If Dorian is gated, I think it's more likely to be Qunari than elves, but I don't really think it will be him. I mean, Cullen has been a huge racist towards Qunari and dwarves, he probably doesn't like Dalish because he's a strict Andrastrian and he hates mages. If he can make it through ungated, then I think they must have a pretty good reason for the ones that are. lol
I have a sinking suspicion that the last two will be the two race gated options, but then again idk. Dorian seems too much of, for lack of a better word, good person, to not fall in love with a particular race.

Theres always the chance you can play an andrastian dalish. Maybe they left the clan because of that? :v
I think they would have said if any of the presently announced romances were race-gated. It would probably result in a lot of needless emotions if they suddenly announced that characters people had been forming attachments to could not romance certain people's ideal Inquisitor. Simpler to reveal it all at once. It also kind of makes the whole race-gating thing less of a big deal if they introduce us to a bunch of non-race-gated people earlier to ease tension. Or even hint at it in the character description (like they were doing with the Iron Bull before they de-gated him). It kind of would defy the whole philosophy of "not revealing anything until it is certain," to retroactively announce, "Oh hey, you know that Dorian guy y'all are so excited for, well, he doesn't like other humans. Deal with it." But then again, they do like some fan tears.
I would actually be more surprised if the war didn't have an effect on Dorian, then the other way around. That's not to say he would be race gated against the Qunari Inquisitor, but actual members of the Qun that hate mages and sow their mouths shut and are trying to wipe out his nation-that would leave an impression on just about anyone.

If Bioware was worried about that they would've announced Cass and Cullen's sexualities when they were confirmed as LIs
I don't think Dorian would have an issue with a the Qunari Inquisitor since he was born outside of the Qun, but I've been very wrong in my guesses before.
I think it makes more sense to limit the bi LIs because Bioware will probably want to make LIs available to as many players as possible. So I think it will be restriction along gender lines OR race lines, and not both. A character with both limits would be too restrictive and not worth the budget dedicated to their romance.
Then again, I've been wrong before. Usually because I was looking at it from a cost/work POV instead of a storytelling POV, so... Maybe he's got old prejudices against qunari or doesn't like dwarves because they're shorter than him, idk.
The qunari treatment of their saarebas is of great concern, certainly. I just don't know if the war itself would be adequate to dissuade him from forming relationships with the qunari, be it platonically or even romantically. This is how David describes him:
Dorian’s relationship with the Iron Bull is interesting. The Qunari have been at war with the Tevinter Imperium for centuries, after all, and the fact that neither Dorian nor Iron Bull are typical of their people makes for an intriguing arc.
As someone who is considered atypical and an outcast, it's really difficult to find storyline reasons to race-gate him at this point.
There's also how the qunari inquisitor isn't with the Qun-- and can be a free mage, themselves.
Edit: NVM I'm silly and didn't understand the comic

It confused me at first too until I realized my brain was reading "Col" as "Cole" even though that wasn't actually what it said.

I think the meaning is that a cloaked (rogue?) Inquisitor comes up and, uh, disrobes Dorian and then vanishes, leaving him to blame it on Cole?

I think the Inquisitor name is Col?
Anyway I just figured the most important thing was Dorian ending up in his underwear.
I don't think Dorian will be racegated. More likely it will be Varric, who stated he's not into humans and someone else who is not Dorian ![]()
David told a story in the GaymerX panel about informing one of the voice actors that their character is a male romance option.
DG: You have no idea how okay the actor is going to be with this, necessarily. So you bring it up and float it, like: "Okay, we've talked about this a little bit before but your character... is gay."
[other panelists]: Super gay.
DG: Super gay. And I just loved that their response was "Oh, excellent. Awesome, great. And then he just turned it on its head and was like "Well what kind of sex do we need to have?"
(David talks about his reply to that question, "Oh no no, it's not ...... [game]" but there's an audio bug and it's impossible to hear.)
Oh, here's David's full line at the end there (his reply to that actor):
Lol he said "oh no, it's not that kind of game." (Aka, not an explicitly sexual nc17 game). But the point was, every voice actor who is voicing an lgbt character was totally cool/exited/enthusiastic about it.
Oh, here's David's full line at the end there (his reply to that actor):
Yeah the way he was talking about it , I was almost picturing Dorian and the Inquisitor in some kind of retro porn scene intro.
"hey baby I'm here to fix the cable...^^"
"Oh yeah let me show you my cable..."
