Huh. Confident to the point of arrogance. Reminds me of when I left my little trailer on the Rez and went to university. The friends I looked up to most were like that. Thought they were smarter and hotter than anyone else. Took me a while to realize it was because they were tired of being told otherwise (we were all queer PoC) and really they were more than capable of understanding other people. Maybe Dorian will be like that? Tired of letting the world get to him, but also super sensitive to the poopy side of life. Personal strength that come from feeling too vulnerable in the past.

gah!!!!! I wanna play nowwwwww...

Patrick Weekes on Dorian in the new GaymerX panel:

"He is confident to the point of being arrogant, he is a fascinating character."

(In the context of the media going batpoo crazy about his sexuality when it was like, one line in the middle of an enormous interview.)

I may just be really weird, but I consider arrogance to be an appealing trait in guys as long as they aren't hurting others or being downright stuck-up with it. So this description of Dorian basically solidified him as my first/canon romance  :P

I'm actually into slightly arrogant guys, too. It's a character flaw, but I like it.  :P

Speaking of character flaws, do we know of enough about Dorian's personality to know of anything else that could be considered a character flaw? He's jaded and rebellious, but either of those could be positive or negative depending on the viewpoint.

I only like arrogant people if I can mock them about it.

I don't like people who takes themselves too seriously.

If Dorian think he's the best man the Maker ever created and everyone should kiss his feet ...oh boy.

I'm going to have a field day.

Well I mean his choice of wording can sound pretty pretentious, I suppose. I can think some would say that. It's quite heightened and I am positive that will irritate some people. Lol.

It's like the opposite of Sera LOL

He sounds more and more like magical, gay Tony Stark each time we hear something about him.

It's amazing.

I don't like arrogance, but I hope that (like Tony Stark) Dorian has redeeming qualities that make up for it.

Honestly, the arrogant part could almost refer to any of the companions, besides maybe Cole and Varric. Most of them seem to think they're either the prettiest, most powerful or wisest macaw in the Amazon.

The character flaw I saw of Dorian's in the E3 demo part 2 that was interesting is he seemed to want to believe in his former master Alexius, which may indicate he believes in the good of people. Which would explain why he might be optimistic about the future of Tevinter given their questionable past.

this on so many levels is so on point when it comes to Dorian . I would like to quote here my post from Josephine thread about Dorian's character :

"Well he will face reality and feel like he is only mortal and sometimes powerless to do anything to fight or save something or someone  he cares for, like Shepard was in ME 3.  The time will come when he will fail but i will make sure he knows that some things are beyond him and make him fell good abot himself again."

I would of said he looks more like Zorro just not the Antonio Banderas version.

I think it's the arrogance AND the glorious facial hair that has people equating him to Tony Stark.

I'm actually really starting to see it, though, and I'm really liking it.

A fantasy Tony Stark with an English/RP accent who's into men? Man, you had me at Tony Stark.

If we're doing resemblance, he looks more like movie version of Tony Starks father from the first captain America movie.

You have the respect to fact Dorian's attempt at changing negative perception consists of showing a different side rather than enforcing and even strengthening fears with violence.

I think he will have about as much sucess as Shartan but still, respect.

I hope there'll be opportunities to remark upon this in the game. Something like "I appreciate your help but do you really believe that, when the people of Redcliff tell the story of what happened here, what they'll give primacy to will be the Tevinter who helped them over the score of Tevinters who nearly destroyed the land itself?"

I think that like Tony Stark, Dorian is a good man he just comes off as a bit of a know-it-all jerk most of the time.

The other thing is that Dorian has supreme confidence in his magical abilities, but there's probably going to come a time where they come up short (kind of like Stark's suits in IM3) and he realizes that there's more to him than magic.

The only problem I have with him resembling Tony Stark is Tony is too modern looking Zorro fits the dress code.

Thank Christ. I do not want another bleeding heart terrorist Mage.

If Dorian blows up a place full of innocent people (or has in the past) I will most likely kill him if I have the chance... Not even kidding.

I think Dorian benefits from the being from a place where Mages are the oppressors rather than the oppressed.

I still love Anders.  :P

But I don't imagine Dorian is going to be attached enough to other countries to do something like that. I do wonder how he'll react to the state of mages outside Tevinter, though.
