well, given the circumstances i think dorian would be more shocked at that felix dude's state of health (dead) than he would leliana's torturing....

on a side note with all the fenris stuff goin round, i have issues with both fenris and anders.  Both are on the extreme ends of their spectrums, and are incredibly adamant in their ways.  I find it very difficult to like characters who can't see past their own prejudices and are so stubborn to the point that i play a mage so i can be the healer to not take anders, and take two rogues so i dont have to take fenris

Oh my lord, you did that too? I exclusively used Merrill as the mage if I ran a rogue Hawke. I didn't use healzors; I depraved myself of heals just to keep Anders away. ._. It was more than difficult because I got so used to having the option in the first place...

I romanced Anders my first play through of DAII and after that, I just entirely disliked his character so goddamn much. The whole terrorist thing was a giant turn off, but before that, I dunno... I just... he always rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't like him, even during the romance. I guess blowing up the Chantry was just the tipping point for me.

I actually romanced Isabela in my second playthrough because I didn't realize Fenris was romanceable to a male Hawke. Not sure I would romance him regardless, though.

However, I feel like both Dorian and Bull are going to be fantastic romances, in their own sense. I've got high hopes and hope to god I'm not disappointed. From what I've seen, so far, I honestly doubt I'd be anything but amazed.

I find it interesting Dorian wears white.  I think it might be symbolic.  Wonder if that's his signature color and his armor is always white?

The other Tevinter mages (Alexius, even Felix) wear white. It might be the color of the year in Tevinter.

I think it has something to do with who Alexius and Dorian were before whatever happened leading to them ending up in Ferelden, possibly what they stood for. It seems Alexius was an idealist like Dorian too, before he got involved with the Elder One stuff, so it could be symbolic, but we probably wont know until the game comes out.

I did not notice.

I wonder if it's strange he would still dress like a Tevinter noble, when he's trying to distance himself?  Maybe he thinks there can be a happy medium?

Also, since we don't know exactly where he is on his journey when we recruit him, maybe he hasn't had time to buy new robes.  Perhaps The Wonders of Thedas was closed the day he was in Denerim... :P

I guess its just a way to distinguish themselves from the evil tevinter mages that usually wear black.

That and after playing the ME trilogy and knowing the lore of Dragon Age I think its safe to assume Alexius is indoctrinated, I mean, mind controlled by the elder one.

Who cares about Tevinter history and Dorian's views on it. I just want to twirl that moustache!

It was twirly and awesome.

Doesn't the demo narrator say Dorian studied under the Elder One guy? Perhaps he's trying to look like his hero?

Yeah. Dorian was Alexius's apprentice. Dorian said that "He (Alexius) was once a man to whom I compared all others".

He's also surrounded by Red Lyrium in Redcliffe Castle, and judging from what happened to Bartrand (Varric's brother) in DA2 when exposed to a small amount of the stuff... not a good item to decorate your pad with.

I thought he Dorian was referring to his (now undead) lover in that statement.

It may be the colour of some order of mages that they belonged to.   Or it could be the standard dress of a particular rank of Magister or like in ancient Rome when you got to wear a toga on reaching adulthood.   Or it could just be that Dorian likes that particular colour.

I don't think Dorian is ashamed of his country or being identified with it, just of some of the traditions and customs and of the corruption in some levels of society.   If anything he wants people to know he comes from Tevinter because he is trying to show that not everyone is a corrupt blood mage.     Dressing in a way that makes him stand out would go along with this even if it has no other significance.

Ummm, we don't know anything about Felix, much less if they were ever in a relationship. Dorian was most definitely talking about Alexius, if you had seen the recent demo.

Doesn't seem like it. From the demo, I don't think we can conclude that Felix and Dorian were in a relationship. People (including me) did think that before we had access to the full demo, but the context makes it hard to come to that view.

The line was talking about Alexius, and Dorian never mentions Felix except for that one surprised line when they first see him.

Am I the only one with a horrible suspicion that if you don't romance either Dorian or the Iron Bull there's going to be a string of companion dialogue where they talk about what they did last night together lol

*snip*

I really enjoyed the dynamic between my archer M!Hawke and Anders, as well. I felt that it emphasized the "mage sympathizer" theme I was trying to go for in my canon playthrough of DA:O/DA2. My Dwarf Commoner Warden could relate to the mages' oppression and felt that their gift had the potential to be beneficial to others and my Hawke was staunchly pro-mage because of his father and sister. I'll be playing as a mage in Inquisition to see first-hand the results of the sympathy for mages displayed by the Warden and Hawke. It'll be interesting, especially since my Inquisitor will start off as pro-circle.

I'm usually not a fan of large differences in romances, though, which is why I'm safely romancing Dorian with a human mage. Both human, both mage, both noble, both arrogant lol. It's, also, partially why I don't really like the idea of Dorian with an elf or qunari. However, I'm content with knowing that Dorian will probably not be race-gated for the people who do.

Picking up a random naked person on the side of the road. When, we first meet Dorian he is laying on the side of the road. He has been robbed and left with nothing but his small clothes. He is covered in dirt, his hair lays just at his shoulders curled and matted. What was once a mustache is a short dirty beard. As we pass he ask us help to recover is bag. After, getting his bag he ask if he could join us. Once at the keep, he will ask you meet him in his room. and then you will see this....

Spoiler

turn to this...

I'm probably in a minority on this, though, as most people tend to prefer romancing mages with mages, elfs with elfs and so on and so forth. I guess I'm just a sucker for relationships that cross borders in one way or another. Ah well.

Really? Most of my completed romances were different classes and/or different races. My first DAO game was a notable exception but that was because I changed my mind mid-game when it came to romance.

I think I'm gonna go with my tradition and play Elf Rogue for starters. If the game and the Dorian romance is as good as it seems, I'll end up making a mage and give it another go.

And in other, much more depressing news, Inquisition has been delayed until November 18th. Even longer until we really get to meet Dorian.  :crying:

Yeah, it's another month, but if it means fixing irritating bugs and creating smoother cutscene animations (or in our case, Dorian love scenes ;)), then I can wait a bit longer.
