That Sera one looks scary as hell...just saying.  I'm hoping we have options, and that this is just a slow reveal of that fact...

Hmmm, I kinda liked the Dorian in the middle, that had the more stylized art.

Okay from this it look like characters get two kinds of damage buffers. The steel icon looks to be a buffer made by the strength of your armor. The blue icon looks to be buffers made by the strength of abilities and spells. I'm like the health specs so far. Now, all we need to learn is if a shield spell is in affect does your armor still go down. And, if mages and rouges can get the armor buffs warriors do. Also, loving the minimalist Dorian art in the middle.

Those icons are really BG/IWD.

I prefer Dorian's old picture, tbh. He looks too evil villian in the new one...

OR IS HE ACTUALLY A VILLIAN UMNG

I too like the more stylized icons better, but the lack of color means it would be difficult to identify who is who just using your peripheral vision, which is important in combat. Hopefully we can switch between the different styles to see which works the best for ourselves.

Well, I guess my run as a goody-two-shoes has come to an end. And my need to be the one non-cliche blood mage in Thedas is futile. I should have succumbed to the thirst for power long ago.

Come, Dorian, we have a world to take over and men to molest with our grabby mustache hands.

So, for a minute lets all ignore the reality of video game constraints, and things the writers are unlikely to do.

How would you guys like the romance with Dorian to play out? Who do you think would make the first move? Do you want to do the whole, friends-to-lovers thing? Or maybe sleeping together for pleasure that later turns into something more? Or will you be taking advantage of the fact that they have advertised being able to sleep with characters that don't get along with the Inquisitor? Or would you rather something completely different?

I don't know. I'm at work and bored, and I want to hear all about how people would like for Dorian's romance to play out, even if it's not likely to happen in-game.

Agreed. I prefer the old one too, it was cooler. I'm getting too much moustache twirling bad guy vibes from this one. Though maybe that's the idea. These new ones feel very caricature-ish.

No new video today.  I thought since they said it was a series it'd be daily over the rest of the week.  No Dorian for me today.  Sad is I!

Inquisitor: O Dorian, Dorian! wherefore art thou Dorian?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a (place last name here).

I'm very partial to the fall into bed (either as acquaintances or already friends) and then turn into something more later route. Sure, we already got versions of it with Morrigan, Zevran and Isabela but what can I say, I really like it.

Dorian seems like a pretty straightforward guy, judging from the information we have of him so far. He gives me the impression that he would be the type to let the Inquisitor know his attraction to him right off the bat. I know some people might find that kind of confidence intrusive and unsettling, but I don't think he'd be obnoxiously aggressive about it. I'm unsure of how the rest of his romance arc will pan out though. If Patrick Weekes considers it to be something special, then we're probably in for a rewarding experience.

I enjoyed that route with Zevran so much! But then again, I also like the slow change from friends-to-lovers, so I'd be happy with either one! I really don't know which one I would prefer!

I agree! Dorian does seem the type to make his attraction clear, and then let the Inquisitor decide how he wants to respond. And honestly, that's something I'd love to see. (Even though, back in the real world, the depressing fact is, it probably won't, because the writers won't want to offend anyone, and people don't seem too keen on guys expressing attraction to their male inquisitors. But away from that depressing thought...) Because, as of right now, I can't really see my Inquisitor making the first move, so I think it'd be cool to see that from Dorian.

Yeah, I'd like to see that. If he doesn't make a move first, I'd at least like to be somehow informed that a move wouldn't be unwelcome in-game. While it made sense for some of my PCs to just flirt and see if it sticks, for others it didn't so I had to meta-game to start the romances. Some of my PCs would worry about being punched in the face for flirting without any sign of previous interest - especially with how strong some flirt lines were.

I'd prefer a slow friends to lovers, if only because one of the characters I might romance him with is a Dalish who is very distrustful of mages. One of the things I miss from DAO is that you could choose both which LI you wanted but also the type of romance. Warden and Morrigan could be a sex first romance or friends to lovers. And so on.

I did like the different ways the romance could happen in DAO. Like how, if you romance Alistair, but don't select the conversation option to sleep with him, after he reaches a certain level of approval, he'll approach the Warden, instead of the Warden having to initiate. So... Yeah, I would love for there to be more variation, and more allowances for different kinds of romances.

With Dorian I'd be happy if it could be a sexual relationship early on. With the character I have in mind for him, I imagine them flirting heavily and moving very fast physically, but taking a while to get attached emotionally. I'd have to alter my concept a bit if they had to get emotionally attached first.

I like that idea too! (Of course, I like most of them, save for the whole "hate you lover" thing they were advertising back in April.) On the off chance we can sort of choose how the romance plays out, I wouldn't go that route with my first Inquisitor (Eliot would be more the slow friends to lovers type) but I would definitely have a few that went that way too, because I will definitely be doing more than one play through romancing Dorian.
