It'd be nice if there were different ways it plays out some sex first, others more emotional up front and sex later. As I know everyone has different preferences. ![]()
And for this...Big head mode enabled! That was really awesome. ![]()

If you don't mind me babbling about my Inquisitors and how I'd like things to go:
Terris Lavellan used to be a good little Dalish. But three clans have been lost to magic in ten years. So he's going to have to spend a while verifying Dorian doesn't think unleashing a pride demon is a wonderful idea. After that, they're going to spend a while bonding over their mutual brilliance in they're respective fields and their cultures really do need drastic changes before they run themselves into the ground. So friends to lovers really works best.
Um, wait, did I just come up with a decent Dorian romance concept? /proud
My first characters in DAO and DA2 were huge flirts and I plan to continue that tradition. So even if Dorian keeps to himself it won't be a problem in that playthrough - pretty much all he has to say to my Dalish Inquisitor is that he doesn't think elves should be slaves and it's on
But if he doesn't show any interest, I'd have to meta game the second romance - yes, I'm planning on two Dorian romances even before meeting him, sue me.

I love hearing everyone's plans for their Inquisitors. They're all so perfect!
I know I'll romance him more than once, but I'm only really planning one. And even though I'm planning on romancing other characters as well, that first romance with Dorian is still the only one I'm planning.
Eliot Trevelyan will be a mage, so a circle mage given what we know of the background. And he's going to be kind of in between what I think Vivienne and Dorian will be. He's not really pro-Circle like Vivienne, but he does understand, and even approve of the idea behind it, as well as its basic purpose, so he's not really for mage freedom either. He'll probably be attracted to Dorian - physically at least - right off the bat. Then they become friends, and it becomes more than just physical, but he's more the Deal with the end of the world first. This can wait until afterwards type. But if Dorian makes the first move, announces his interest... Yep, that'd be it. So much for Eliot's plan to be a responsible Inquisitor and all that. ![]()
Haha. Here's to hoping Dorian derails your Inquisitor's professionalism big time - because that sounds like great fun.
This. I sometimes forget that we even have other options besides Dorian. He just has that kind of power, I guess.
I know right. At this point, I don't really care anymore about those last 2 love interests. I just want my Dorian already! November get here NOW!
The solid idea that I have to romance Dorian will be a young Trevelyan circle mage. I see him as being kind of a spoiled party boy with an aversion to responsibility starting out. The circles have been presented as being a bit on the free love side with a lot of high school style gossip floating around when things aren't going crazy, so I'm considering that culture for him. I see him being quick to flirt and hook up, but not really used to committed relationships, since they don't seem the common approach in the circles. I think he'll be less political at first and will just feel sort of pushed into all this. I don't see him as someone that's happy to lead or who particularly wants to be responsible for the fate of the world. He just sees the whole thing as a big inconvenience. He'll see Dorian's cause with Tevinter and the mages as inspiring, though, and I see him growing a lot based on his interaction with Dorian and some of the other companions.
I'm thinking about a Qunari Inquisitor concept that might also romance Dorian, but I'm not sure about it yet. I want to see how the male Qunari look first. It depends what I can do with the CC and how enormous they are.

Lol. He's really not all that professional. But he tries. Got to be a leader of leaders and all, according to Cassandra. But between Sera, Iron Bull, and Varric's jokes, and Dorian being... Dorian... It's just probably not going to work out for him. ![]()

That sounds even better. All those companions leading him "astray" much to the serious ones' dismay
It reminds me a bit of my canon Hawke - he started out trying to be all diplomatic and heroic but in the end he couldn't take that mess seriously and was joking right and left.
Edit: Wait, I should clarify. By in the end I meant the shift happened somewhere in Act 2, not the actual end of the game. Starting with jokes there would be more of a nervous breakdown.
I'm hoping that Dorian's romance will be the friends-to-lovers sort. Not only out of personal preference, but because I don't want our first gay male character to reinforce the stereotype that all gay men are super horny and and have lots of casual sex with each other. Although, I do see Dorian as the kind of guy who'd be upfront about his attraction to the Inquisitor.
I plan on romancing him with a "hardass with a bit of smartass" human mage Inquisitor, and I really like the idea of Dorian seeing his seriousness as a sort of challenge. He'll constantly flirt with the Inquisitor, and the Inquisitor will respond by being a huge tease. Both know they're attracted to each other, but the Inquisitor sees himself as being worth more than a physical relationship, so he makes Dorian work for his love after making his attraction known. I can definitely see it being the sort of romantic comedy relationship the devs said you would be able to have (I'm pretty sure they said you could have that type of relationship along with your standard friendship romance and a passionate, hate-filled romance).
Just wondering, but am I the only one who thinks it'd be great if Dorian assumed the Inquisitor to be straight, and there was a scene where Dorian finds out he's not and becomes incredibly over-the-top happy?

I actually had a really similar concept on the romance progression between Dorian and my first Inquisitor - except I'm rolling a Lavellan as opposed to Trevelyan (assuming Dorian isn't gated against elves).
My ideal romance between the two would be a sort of stern, no-nonsense Inquisitor who is at first cautious in the way of friendship and is largely concerned with being a leader, responsibility and blah blah, etcetera etcetera. And then there's Dorian, who takes the Inquisitor's guarded nature as a challenge and slowly gets him to open up, but is totally taken aback by secret sassmaster Inquisitor's sudden growth of a sense of humor. Something between a "mutual attraction" and "friends-to-lovers" progression is what I'd love to see, maybe with the two being friends but overtly flirting, just not immediately acting on any sort of chemistry between them due to the world, y'know, falling to ruin or what have you.
Okay oh my God that is a really adorable thought. You are full of good ideas.
Ohmygod THAT'D BE SO CUTE. That's a squee-worthy possibility.
*snip*
Haha, thanks! Obviously, great minds think alike. ![]()
...so I'm a poor judge but I would have probably placed him as being probably from the middle east or maybe some of the neighbouring locales from there.
Middle eastern!? I thought he was Italian or spanish.
It's been clarified since that Dorian's real world equivalent would be Indian.

Not what I would have guessed (I thought Spanish or Mediterranean)
You know, even though I am a straight guy, I really like Dorian.
Maybe that is because I am an Indian man myself and Dorian looks like an Indian so there is this "Indian Bro' type thing. I used to actually have mustache like Dorian's once.
Maybe that is because he has a decent sense of fashion but he does not overdo it like Vivienne does. Maybe because he just sounds like a nice man living his life on his own terms.
He is most definitely going to be a frequent party member.
I will most probably create a gay mage Inquisitor just to romance him. Most probably it will be either a Trevelyan or Adaar.
While I was asleep, more people posted about their Inquisitors and Dorian. And they're all awesome!

Nah, he very much looks indian (I'm an Indian so I recognized that instantly once we got a good shot of him). His skin tone is also slightly darker than the average Spanish or Mediterranean man IMO which is true for many Indians (though not all). That moustache thing also seems to be a style statement among some men in India. Plus the VA is a British guy of Indian descent which probably doesn't mean that much but fits in better with what we know. I'd have been very surprised if the devs had said anything other than an Indian was final Dorian's equivalent in real world.

Ah, I thought Middle Eastern myself. I got an Arabic feel from him, but I can see Indian just as well.
I dunno why I also thought Spanish, seeing as he's way more of color than white, even though I was thinking more Hispanic than purely Spanish. @_@
