This is just a crackpot theory, but what if discovering the Venatori is what prompted Dorian to leave Tevinter? From the sound of it the Elder One is some kind of Old God that they managed to restore or another eldritch abomination.

Considering that the Imperium has lost most of its power thanks to the Qunari and a few Exalted Marches it wouldn't be that much of a surprise if some in the upper classes would like a return to the "good old days". The only problem is that when that involves something that says "behold your new god" then you've got a big problem.

It may be that Alexius tried to convince him to join the Venatori under the pretense of reforming Tevinter. However, once Dorian discovered their plot and how many people would be killed, he left the Imperium in hopes of finding someone who would heed his warning. Unfortunately, he failed in his mission but assisting the Inquisition can help make up for it.

I'm loving the new armor.  The boots, chest strap and gloves are to die for. I'm a little so so on the skirt rips, but I'm in love with the new look. So, we've seen Dorian the white mage, and now Dorian the red mage. Does this mean a Dorian the black mage will be in the next clips?

Fashionably late to the hype train!  Dorian pulls them red robes off like it's nobody's business.  Nice to know he looks good in whatever color he wears.  And ohmygod his jawline game is so strong.

 

Judging from his involvement in the new trailer it looks like he might be somewhat central to the main plot?  I really hope so!

 

This game - or, more accurately, Dorian - is going to destroy my GPA.  I can already feel my grades slipping.

I have a habit of keeping my favorite characters with me pretty much all through the game, unless there is a reason I need someone else.  I can tell Dorian will be in my party a lot just from reading the description of him.  Sarcastic, hot, and a rebel to his own people?  Sign that boy up now.

He looked even more handsome in this trailer (not because of looking paler btw, his face just looked like there has been more work put into it since last we saw him). 

 

I prefer his white robe but we can customize outfits and materials so It doesn't really matter which outfit is best because we can all choose for ourselves.

I love this handsome man.  Especially in his new red robes and knee high boots.  Yum.

 

That being said, the poor guy does have a tendency to go cross-eyed in certain shots.

Dorian will be in my party the whole game once he's recruited. If the Elder One targets my LI I will unleash so much hell that Flemeth's dragon form won't be able to hold a candle to my Inquisitor.

I think the reason for his paleness is mostly a lighting issue. The staff he's holding is emanating a warm glow that brightens his whole face.

The white robe looks good on him too, but I'm starting to prefer this new robe. It kinda bears a resemblance to the Mantle of the Champion rogue armor in DA2.

Yeah, I know. I was just clarifying that I didn't think he looked more handsome because he looked more white. His jawline and cheekbones look slightly different, sort of more defined I guess.

yeah I think it's just lighting. Some people forget how much it can change the look of things

i have this habit too, pretty sure if im not a mage, dorian is gonna be in my party 24-7....  sorry everyone else, but my other slots are filled with cass and varric

I like the red...strips. They're reminiscent of both classic Roman armor and Morrigan's robes.

I love how both Dorian and Solas seem to have an important role in the story. Dorian knows the Venatori and Solas seems to teach the inquisitor about how to close rifts.

You guys think this is a scene from his recruitment mission? I can see it. I wonder what we do to make him decide to help us, then? Is it just desperation (knowing that his group is doing wrong and realizing that these random people are here to stop them) or is it a more calculated move on his part (like playing along with their plan then writing the Inquisition for help)? From the description we've got of him the first seems more likely, but I dunno.

We can equip companions with armor again, like in DA: O.  What's really interesting in DA: I, however, is that the same armor set will look slightly different on each of the companions.  In effect, they will make the look their own.  So if Vivienne, Solas, and Dorian were all to put on the same armor set, they would still retain their unique style to some degree.
