Norian!

Adding this to my list of female names. Norian sounds Qunari for some reason. Bessie or Norian which one do I pick?

...You know, I just realized how similar Dorian looks to Ian McCall. That was a complete accident, but one I do not regret.

 

I'm sure many prospective Dorian romancers would like for him to McCall them.

Either that or Dorian can be a bit of a drama queen when it comes to getting knocked out:

Dorian: Love? Is that you? Maker...I'm so cold.

Inquisitor: Serves you right for getting between Iron Bull and dinner.

Dorian: (stands up) Oh, so I get hit with a horn the size of Varric and this is the sympathy I get?

I don't really agree with that whole "his moustache made him look super gay" thing, but let's just say it does:

Is that a bad thing? He's gay, so I'm assuming he's interested in getting the attention of other men, not women.

He seems to be very confident in himself, too, so I'm guessing he's not giving two shits about negative opinions on his fancy stache. 

 

And calling that stereotypical is kinda strange, too. Most gay males I've seen in media were portrayed as feminine, clean-shaved, slim boys. I'm not saying that there are no gays like that, but portraying that as the norm is wrong. Everybody is different.

 

Caring for your looks is not universal for girls and gay males, guys. I know plenty of heterosexual guys who have an extremly good fashion sense. There's nothing wrong in wanting to get a lil bit of attention from the sex you are interested in.

I hate hearing people act as if stereotypes dictate the world. They don't because every person is different and has different perspectives on how they wish to present themselves. It's just the fact that everyone needs to stop thinking certain things are negative and that it's normal for it to be a negative aspect. If you're being true to who you are, then it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of what you do and who they perceive you to be.

 

Hell, Dorian reminds me of Freddie Mercury because of the 'stache and that might be a gay thing and it might not. But, it's glorious and ain't nobody gonna take that away from him. Dorian shall always remain Sassy Hips Mustache Grabby Hands Man... uh... Grabby Hands Sassy Mustache Hips Man... Mustache Grabby Hips Sassy Hands Man...

 

Some variation of those particular words that makes sense. >_>

I'm still hoping to romance Solas. But the more I think about Dorian the more appealing he seems. Hope we can expect some nice party banter from him. Have a feeling Vivienne will playfully make fun of the inquisitor and Dorain. Curious to hear more about his tevinter past.

You don't have faith in their Statler and Waldorf depiction of their relationship?

 

As for whether they're alike or not, I think they're actually very different, but with very close similarities. I don't think either have sticks so far up their asses that they'd step over the banter line and into direct insults. I honestly think they'd make a good show of making it look like they hate each other's guts with their kind of 'faux, throwaway insults,' but are actually just jabbing at each other playfully. This is just speculation, but I think, under the surface, they'd have great respect for each other and the worst they'd think would be that their ideals are noble, but wholly unrealistic.

 

I think Dr. Doctor does a great depiction of how their banter would turn out, if I could ever find it in our hundreds of pages of delicious Dorian love. It's very, "Ooh, you've got cooties," and, "Ooh, your hat looks silly," to, "You know who's hat looks silly? Sera's face." and, "Nah, nothing compares to Solas' conehead." *Cue haughty laughter*

 

Of course, I'm sure Bioware has better banter-insults than, "Ooh, your hat looks silly."
