Forgive me if this has been asked but from the demos and other sources do we know relatively how early we will be able go get Dorian once we begin the game? From the Pax demo the character selection screen only had a few cards but since we have optional characters we can pick up I'm curious on how early we can obtain the ones we want for our main party.

Pretty early if the combat video is anything to go by. Dorian was shown to be a 'level 4 mage' in that one so he's at least one of our earliest recruitable companions.

I'm curious about how he going to introduce himself to and maybe the party. Cassandra likely wouldn't trust Dorian right off the back. Maybe he just say " I'm here to set things right. Also? To look dashing. That part's less difficult.". Then watch him bring the Venatori while held at sword point by Cassandra. Then he just takes or calls the chair and sits in it.

I guess Cassandra, Varric and Vivienne are first three we get to meet then the 4th companion will be Dorian. (Or he can be 4th depending on if we can choose who to recruit first).

Actually, I would guess Vivienne to be a late comer. She won't join us until the Inquisition has started to make waves and made something of a name for itself. I would guess Solas to be the first mage to join. He gets on the move as soon as the Breach happens.

Nah, Vivienne throws us a party when the Inquisition is fully formed/started to be famous. I think the first will be Solas, very early, to teach us how to use our power.

I wonder if it's in Haven , before we get Skyhold and the "official " war table.

The Bull and Vivienne are there.

Vivienne throwing a party , I guess you can choose when you go.The Bull comes to offer his service , I guess if you have to hire mercenaries , it's pretty early.

You meet Blackwall and Sera when you're out questing, one in orlais , the other when you're looking for some wardens. 

No idea about Cole or Dorian , but the devs have said you can't miss companions this time .

The devs didn't say you can't miss companions.

 

They said it would be much more obvious when a quest or other story arc is going to lead to a new companion.

 

(Unlike, say, Fenris, who turned up in the middle of another random quest.)

Meh, I'll be glad when the specific info on how to recruit Dorian is readily known.  I sort of want to play the game a bit blind, but some things are just not worth the risk.  Must have Dorian early as possible.     If the info isn't out by the release of the game though, I guess I won't have much choice.

We already know too much. Like, (SPOILERS I GUESS) I did NOT wanna know about Haven, about small NPCs in Skyhold, The Elder One, Venatori deets, Avvar being in the game, the glowing hand as to why we are the fade breacher/closer... I KNOW TOO MUCH. I did not need to know who the big boss was or who is working for them or any of that. TMI. BW always does this - they release wayyyyy too much info. I already know way too much inadvertently. Just play as a completionist and you'll find him. I never missed getting any companion in any BW game because I do every single quest possible and run around every location to see if I missed something twice or thrice. Just do that and you won't have to worry.

I do think we can get Dorian before we leave Haven the latest trailer when he is explaining about the Venatori , to me it looks like a run down meeting place . Kind of like what Haven would look like after ten years and a massive explosion lol!

I know what you mean though, it's hard to walk the line between too many spoilers and not enough.  For me, I haven't hit my limit yet I guess.

I don't think that they'll say exactly when we'll recruit Dorian. Though speculations based on what they've shown so far might lead you to not be surprised about it.
Still, the only one we know for sure when we'll meet her is Cassandra. Even for Solas and Varric, which I think will be the early 'forced' recruitments, we don't know when we'll really meet them.
I agree though that from E3 they released a ton of info. Though they did say that the E3 demo will be spoiler.
I really didn't expect them to be more clear on the Elder one on Gamescon though.

Yeah, same. He's the companion I'm most excited about so I plan to recruit him as early as I possibly can. The Enemy of Thedas trailer (if that's the point we recruit him) makes it look like he might not be easily missable. Cullen was accompanying the Inquisitor when Dorian was divulging information about the Venatori. It could be one of those priority quests that tie into the main story.

Okay I had the funniest dream about DA:I last night and I just wanted to tell you guys here:

So I got an early copy of it or something and I was so friggun excited and I started playing it and I didn't have a choice in PC (which I didn't like) so I had a female human and I kept trying to get her to hit on Dorian and he was all awkward and avoiding my PC and I was like NO LET ME LOVE YOU.

 

All of a sudden THERE IS A LIVE ACTION MOVIE CUTSCENE PLAYING and they had the cast of Pretty Little Liars (which, btw, I have never watched in my life) playing characters and Jessica Merizan was Morrigan (except she wasn't in her amazing cosplay outfit she was in this cheap looking one) and this actor in cheap grey body paint was Iron Bull. My reaction whilst this was playing:

 

 

I got so angry I was like, "WHO THE HELL THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?!??!" and I met with the executive producer (who wasn't Darrah) and he was this balding old man who was like, "sooo what did you tykes think of it" and I was like so angry with him I walked right up to him and grabbed the lapels of his expensive Versace suit and stared him dead in the eyes and went, "I'm sorry I love you guys but who the **** thought putting live action cutscenes into this game was a good idea??! You better change it right now or you will be the laughing stock of the gaming industry" and he just laughed and thought I was very cute in my anger. Anyway, that was it.

 

I'm pretty sure the meaning behind it is me being scared of being disappointed with it but it was so fricking hilarious I am laughing right now whilst typing it up.

I feel like I hit it yonks ago. I muted and skipped half of the Enemy of Thedas trailer BUT I STILL SAW TOO MUCH. I just found out too much about ME2, DA2 and ME3 before release. Even DA:O was pretty bad.

I am glad that we don't know that much about the companions, tbh. I think we've gotten ample info on them. Kinda wished Dorian's quest wasn't in that demo, though. "Felix... ?! Maker's breath, Alexius WHATHAVEYOUDONE?!?" always pops into my head lol.

I've actually been addicted to mind-numbing games to the point of having Bejeweled-like dreams in the past @_@ ... yours sounds much more entertaining.
