So Dorian is really into the idea of mage freedom then? I heard him compared to Anders earlier today but didn't think twice about it until just now... I was kind of assuming he was more interested in changing Tevinter than the rest of Thedas, but I'm not so sure now... It would make sense for there to be at least one mage companion who favored freedom since Vivienne is pro-Circle, but I thought that would be limited to Solas. Dorian seemed like he could have been a neutral party since he's not really from this part of the continent, but I guess it would also make sense if both he and Solas were anti-Circle...
To fair, tevinter still has a circle system, Harrowing, Tranquility, Annulment and templars.Why would a mage who has been free his entire life embrace a system in which he would be locked up? I don't get the idea that he's against mages having power, but rather with specific abuses of power that have become compulsory among the magisters in Tevinter.
So while he's more likely to agree with the Mages, it doesn't mean he'll support a system without countermeasures for the mages, or a place where mages could learn theIr powers.
Though we don't really know his opinion on Teviter circle system as well.

I don't think it is 100% the same, but I wouldn't expect many vast differences. While it's Probably better in terms of treatment, it might be worse in another way, since all Circle mages want to be chosen as the apprentice of a Magister, and they'd compete with each Other for it.

Dorian probably won't give much of a damn regarding the mess. Most Tevinter mages have little empathy for their southern counterparts. More than likely, Tevinter mages think it's the White Chantry mage's fault for letting it get so bad in the first place.
