Pretty evidently copied from Andrew Ryan's Dorian piece...

Anyway, I'd have loved to have seen Dorian alongside Vivienne and Varric today in the demo.

Honestly as bad as that playthrough went (Cameron got his whole team killed) I'm sort of glad Dorian was safe at Skyhold.  lol!

Man, after seeing that CC video, I'm even more excited to create a handsome Inquisitor to romance Dorian with!  :P

Ditto to that, think I've picked out a name for dalish mage who gonna keep bromance Dorain until the chant is sung all over thedas. gonna name my mage Henry after the dark mage in Fire Emblem. Now I just need to debate what hair style and color I'm give my pc. While I do also like/love Solas from what I've heard about his character, By comparison Dorain just seems more fun to romance. #Ridethestache

judging by the hair/mustache options shown, you can make an inquisitor that looks very similar to dorian

so I'm expecting someone out there to romance dorian as dorian. and hopefully take screenshots.

please take screenshots.

Well, I wouldn't call my inquisitor Dorian on Dorian. My Inquisitor's hair is a little to bleached to be Dorian.

After hearing that the friendship bar has been removed from the game, I'm a bit concerned how it will effect the romance options.  I hope it will not be too awfully hard to woo our Dorian, and that we don't have to keep a piece of paper handy to try to cypher out invisible numbers and how they affect the relationship.

Tell him that mages rock and that Tevinter rocks too. He'll be yours in no time.

Yeah, it sucks that they removed the bar indicator. I don't know if there's an alternative replacement system to check approval or disapproval points, but Mike did say that speech patterns and demeanor change according to your relationship with individual companions.

To be safe, I'll just use the flirt responses with Dorian (can't pass up the opportunity to, anyway). Failure to romance/befriend him and subsequently ending up on his bad side is not an option.

It's one of the thing I really don't like with romances , without metagaming , you have no idea what flirt line triggers the romance status.

I  feel like I always have to pick up those hearts , even when I'd rather pick another dialogue option.

I failed to romance Fenris on my first DA2 playthrough , it added to the drama ...sort of.

I was always trying to be nice with him even when I didn't feel like it , but I took him everywhere and I got forever stuck between rivalry and friendship.

I don't really wanna have this in DAI , I felt like such a doormat .

Let's hope my Dalish and Dorian are going to get along.

I'm probably going to leave him at Skyhold when I think my Inquisitor is going to have a "I hate U all filthy Shemlen , I'm going to shoot arrows at every noble I see " moment.

Or maybe not , I'm not sure if Dorian would be amused or horrified.

I actually don't like the heart icon that much. I feel like the DA2 romances are too straightforward when it comes to sexual advances. I prefer soft, flirtatious dialogue scenes. A romance, more invisible in the beginning, that develops slower. I hope, we'll have more different flirt options this time. And I hope we have more chances to talk to our companions. In DA2, it always felt weird that the companions talk more often to each other than to Hawke. In act 1, I had only one possibility to talk to each of them (except Merrill). Act 3 wasn't much better. I completed the quest with Danarius and after the final discussion, Fenris didn't talk to me any longer. In DAO, each companion had many things to say. I hope, we'll see this in DAI again. Talking to our companions was one thing I really missed in DA2.

Unfortunately, this might not even help... the last I heard, companions will know what you did on missions even if you didn't take them along, and that will still effect relationships... :/  Hopefully they changed that, because it seems really annoying.  I mean, I understand that soldiers gossip, but I liked the idea of certain actions being kept secret by a select few party members that I used to take on "black ops" missions...  If this is still in the game, hopefully it's rare...

There wasn't much romance content , and not a lot of casual talk with companions in DA2 ...I actually felt like I learned more about them when I found out all the party banter on Youtube.

I remember reading about this months ago.

I feel like it's going to be difficult to please everyone in DAI ...I'm not looking forward to going back to Skyhold to relax and craft a bit , and some companions are waiting at the gate, just to lecture me.

Oh well...I don't think they are going to know about small things , and they probably all have their hot topics.

I wonder what could annoy Dorian a great deal...Tevinter and Orlais are not on friendly terms ,  he could be good at the Game , but he didn't like that kind of stuff in his country.

But since he's a noble , he might find killing Orlesians noble distasteful.

Templars and mages , I suppose he would be pro mage .

And there's the Venatori business , and " redeeming" Tevinter.I'm not sure what his PR plan is , and what are the consequences for the whole thing.

rofl... yes, that could get annoying.  I know that advisors will pull us aside from time to time, since they have approval as well and this is part of how they express it, but that could easily apply to party members too.

As for what would set Dorian off?  Hm... aside from saying that all mages must be made Tranquil, I don't really know for sure.  He seems pretty easygoing, and I'm not sure what specific grievances with Tevinter caused him to leave in the first place... yeah, I'm stumped.  Maybe doing something extremely cruel for no good reason?

Interesting... thanks for letting us know.  I'll like that later, but I'm out at the moment...

I do love "secret" missions, so I'm glad to know that they still exist to an extent.

This might be challenging to predict, but I suspect that frequent interactions with him will provide us insight on his views, likes, and dislikes. There were moments in DA2 where I would choose the diplomatic options only to gain rivalry points (Fenris comes to mind). In any case, I'm hoping that Dorian is one of the more agreeable companions. If he's going to disapprove, I'd rather know about it now than later because finding out he's no longer greeting you with a smile after 20-40 hours into the game makes my chest hurt. :(

Templars and mages , I suppose he would be pro mage .

I...kinda disagree. I think that his version of pro mage and "pro magic" might be completely different than usage of the term by mages of White Thedas. Tevinter mages seem to have a very condescending attitude towards non-Imperial mages. Perhaps Dorian doesn't necessarily support the mage rebellion because they were dumb enough to let the situation get this bad in the first place.

I know .Being from Tevinter the whole thing isn't really his problem ...the thing is if he can't go back to Tevinter , he might want to side with the mages.I mean he's safe as long as he's working for the Inquisition.

If things don't go as planned , he's no more a noble mage who's part of an elite , he's just a apostate , and necromancer from Tevinter.

It still begs the question - was he exiled legally by the Magisterium or Archon, or did he simply choose to leave voluntarily? Whether or not he can go back to Tevinter might very well affect how he views the mage situation.

I think he decided to leave ...

There's the whole Venatori thing though , we don't really know who they are in Tevinter.

If they are just seen as a bunch of crazy mages , and Dorian deals with them , well it could be a good thing for him in Tevinter.

If they are people of influence , it's another story.

Dorian doesn't really strike me as the kind of guy that would be against the mages just because they took longer to demand their freedom.  If anything I think he'd support them for wanting to change their lot, much like he wants to change the way things are going in Tevinter.  Either way though, he's going to have a big influence on my choices in the game.  So I hope he's as smart as he is handsome, or we could be in trouble.

I'm pro mage and pro circle, so I hope that doesn't send my romance out the wind.
