Nope... the bar is still there, but it's invisible... :/ I'm sure they'll make it easy to figure out what companions like and what gets under their skin though...

I have no idea (I generally don't pay attention to Keep stuff).
I guess it makes sense that they wouldn't officially spoil the game before the release date, but even then, it's not going to help somebody who gets the game for Christmas and learns about the Keep and goes to set up their world state then. (I have to believe they'll make it easy to disregard that information for those of us who don't want to have the details spoiled.)
Since it's supposed to be their forward-looking solution, I'm just surprised it's not something they've already dealt with.
I hadn't even thought of people getting the game for Christmas or later... yeah, it sounds like this would be a problem no matter when a person buys the game... launch day is the least of their worries. However, I think the solution might be as simple as having the DA:I section locked so that you have to click on it to first gain access and then click a second time to confirm that you really want to access that section (with maybe a spoiler disclaimer as well just to be safe). It's probably not that hard to do, but that's just a guess... I have no knowledge of such things.
And how does this relate to Dorian, you wonder? Well, it would be a shame if his storyline got spoiled by a glimpse at some random line or picture in the Keep, so... yeah... let's hope they do this right.
Hmm, I'm not sure how you guys got worried about being spoiled by the devs saying "don't worry, we're gonna make sure the DAI section doesn't spoil anyone"... ![]()

It's an invitation for trolls who will try to post spoilers?
Or it's a jinx.
Is this indicated in any of the videos or images? So with the confirmation of Companions having the same specializations has the player, and Dorian's skill set is almost definitely Necromancy, what do you imagine the other companions reactions to him using would be?
Because we haven't seen the devs saying anything (I know I haven't)? I'm simply responding to things that are being said in this thread.Hmm, I'm not sure how you guys got worried about being spoiled by the devs saying "don't worry, we're gonna make sure the DAI section doesn't spoil anyone"...

In that case, I apologize for my phrasing. I meant to convey "don't worry, you won't get spoiled" and you guys read the opposite.
And about necromancy, it's not confirmed, but the interview about Dorian said his magic dealt with spirits and the dead.
I'd forgotten about the interview, thanks. And about necromancy, it's not confirmed, but the interview about Dorian said his magic dealt with spirits and the dead.

Idk what they have told you about the Keep, I'm a beta tester, but as far as I know, I wouldn't worry about being spoiled unintentionally. Idk if I can say anything else because of the NDA.
.. Speaking of Keep
----------------------------------------
I figured out that I have several Dragon Age: Keep codes, and I figured that since not all of my friends play Dragon Age, then some of you might want to get in.
Idk if you have a code yet, but if you want one, PM me on the forums here and I might send one your way.
It will be completely random and I don't have enough to go around.
Anyway, I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, or down.. but I'm ya know how it goes.

Edit: I just ran out, so sorry guys!

Yeah, I don't even know if we're supposed to be talking about this... I was once told not to discuss spoilers even though I wasn't even part of the Keep beta test... I was just responding to something in a thread that was related to the Keep. So we should probably drop this for now. I don't want to be responsible for getting anybody in trouble... :/
Thanks for the reassurance though...
Oh, and thanks for the offer of the Keep code, but I don't actually need one now thanks to another kindly forumite... xD Still, it's nice of you to offer...

I agree. It is a very annoying choice and most likely a sign of a much less complex friendship system. Which, I guess the casual players will like. -shrug-

I'm mostly worried about not being able to lock party members into maximum approval... as the game nears its end, we will have fewer opportunities to increase it, and every approval loss will seem that much more significant. Plus, once we get to 100%, all approval gains are wasted since the meter only goes so high (unless there is carry over... there might be). Losses, on the other hand, would count as normal... you see what I'm getting at? Let's take Dorian as an example... say we max him out early by being kind to mages or something, but then we keep being kind and get zero approval... every one of those events is wasted, but every time we kick a puppy, we get hit with the full disapproval penalty regardless. Being unable to track this progress seems like it could turn a serious problem into an annoyingly frustrating one...
Actually... I've seen Dorian wielding multiple staves adorned with dead animals, so maybe he's cool with kicked puppies. I dunno...

I know what you mean, we really don't know enough about the new system to know what to expect. Honestly right now I suspect there will be a lock at max friendship, and that the ride to max will mostly be gained by doing a personal quest for them (or a few of them). Though it's all just speculation at this point.
November 18 is going to be an interesting day. It seems like I went from 100% confindence in DAI to 50/50. Still though, I already bought the game, and there's nothing else coming out I want. So I guess I'll take the odds and hope for the best. -shrug- Also just worth noting, that there's more then just the friendship bars that have me worried. There's a lot of questionable choices that have been made that make me feel uneasy.
Edit: sorry for being so off topic. Dorian deserves more on topic posts. hehe

I know how you feel... I too have some concerns, and they seem to increase nearly every time they release news about this game. Still, I keep myself grounded by expecting it to be better than DA2, and that's about it. I know for a fact that they've corrected several major flaws from DA2, so unless the story is absolutely putrid (which I doubt) and the characters bland and uninspired (which I also doubt), this game will be well above average. Plus, none of the mechanical changes are going to be taking us by surprise, so we have a lot of time to get used to the new style of play and storytelling. It'll be fine. ![]()
I wouldn't say that an invisible approval system has made my excitement turn lukewarm... unless you mean news of Warden? I don't know anything else because I know too much already. Just don't expect it to be amazing and it's much more enjoyable.
I do hold high hopes for Dorian, however. Lol.
Indeed. I'm not really a fan of zombies, but judging by how difficult this game can get sometimes, it might be useful to have Dorian around to create expendable meatshields from time to time. Tbh Necromancer sounds like the most useful spec for an NPC mage, although Rift Mage might also be decent...
Actually, I might have Dorian learn more Spirit than I had planned... since Necromancers use spirit based magic...
I don't understand this sentiment at all, never mind the fact that it's likely to be an adaptation of the system they already had (just because you can't see the point totals anymore doesn't mean the points aren't there). Your companions are still going to approve and disapprove of your choices during quests (assuming they're in the party, and even if they're not for some of the global decisions), and you'll be notified of this when it occurs (you just won't be given a numeric value for it).I agree. It is a very annoying choice and most likely a sign of a much less complex friendship system. Which, I guess the casual players will like. -shrug-
Isn't DA:I supposed to be added to the Keep on launch day? Why would they release the Keep early but include a list of spoilers for the entirety of DA:I? That can't be how it works... I mean, I don't want to know Dorian's ultimate fate or the details of his questline before I even have the game in my hands.
You'll only see the new stuff if you unlock it in the game and sync it to your Keep account.
They'll probably have it in the Keep a while beforehand though.
It is funny how much Allan likes Dorian. I can't wait to experience all the Dorian content!
@dev sin. I just know that DA 2 would have been very hard to manage without knowing where I was at with the many relationships, and DAI has even more companions (though not a large number more). So I just can't imagine the system being as in depth without a decent way to track it. It'll most likely be scale from needing say a 100 friend points to max, to a much smaller number. Which could work I suppose. We shall have to wait and see. Again, though that's off topic so feel free to pm me if you want to talk about it.
@Lucy, the main issues I have with the game (briefly before I detract from the topic): the game will feature trophies requiring you to play the game on Nightmare, no normal healing spell, the radial menu is gone (forcing only use of 8 spells/abilities during battle), and the fact that multiplayer is forced into the game (which could turn out to be fun who knows, but right now it's existence gives me pause).
But yeah... Dorian and his awesomeness make up for a some of those issues!

The lack of an easily read meter does in no way relate to any kind of simplification of the underlying system that would have been represented by that meter.
In other words, one does not automatically lead to the other. I don't even see how you could assume it would. So don't despair yet.
Hello everyone!
There was a thread in the scuttlebutt section of the forums about Dorian that got locked. So, I thought I'd share some puns I made over there with some Dorian lovers over here:
I am excited about Dorian appearing, I'm sure he'll be able to use his mage staff to open up rifts.
My Inquisitor hears that, In Tevinter, magisters use their slaves to take care of their long staves.Dorian will prove a valuable asset to the Inquisition, surely.
I heard that Dorian is a necromancer, I'm sure he'll be able to...raise my Inquisitor up...from the dead.
I'm sure Dorian will thrust the Inquisitor with his magic.
I fear that if my Inquisitor supports traditional Tevinter values, Dorian might...stand up against him.
(Ok, that was really enough...I'll leave myself out)
