Probably because he never seems to wear a shirt in the first place, but that isn't the point.

Hoping Dorian and Lavallen will  be cute together. I expect awkward flirting from Dorian given his country's history with the elves. But him and the quanri would be interesting. Maybe the inquisitor "accidentally" spill something on his white robes and he gets stuck with the red. Anyone here clear on Dorian's age in relation to the rest of the party?

Mike said in the twitch livestream that we likely start the game with Cassandra, Varric, and Solas (they were level 3). I wonder if that means Dorian will be the second earliest recruitable mage.

I know a lot of people have speculated this before, but I bet my bottom dollar¹ that Dorian is one of the companions you have to recruit to progress forward in the story. And it'll be earlier on. I mean, Vivienne, you'll recruit, apparently, once your Inquisition is known enough to warrant her throwing the party and inviting you, so she'll probably be the last mage. I just hope none of the companions will be like Fenris in which you can practically skip recruiting him because his introductory mission is so inconspicuous.

So, are y'all gonna go mutual mustaches with Dorian? Stubble, a beard? Completely clean-shaven?!

My heart is set on playing an Elven Inquisitor, so most definitely facial hair-less.

Seeing as we haven't had any inkling of how the romances will work in game, other than that they're interwoven seamlessly into the story and character interactions. As long as we don't have the "press button here for sexy-tiems" (which doesn't seem to be the case), I think I'll just be happy with whichever way my Inquisitor gets along with Dorian and see how their personalities mesh together. Move me emotionally, Dorian, and tug at my heartstrings... or make me giggle my arse off, whatever.

 

I've pegged Dorian in his thirties- with a voice like Ramon Tikaram's, he doesn't sound and seem as young as, say, Alistair. So, same age range as Cullen and Leliana. Younger than Cassandra, Varric, and Vivienne (late thirties), as well as than Blackwall, Iron Bull, and Solas (forties). And older than Sera and Josephine (twenties), with Cole being an oddity of undetermined age, considering that he's a spirit and probably has no concept of time.

You can have a 5 o'clock shadow, but, that comes with some pretty weathered skin. Elves can't really grow facial hair the same way humans, dwarves, and qunari do.

I think you're underestimating Leliana's age, in her Song DLC she meets the city elf warden's mother and Adaia speaks as if her child is still pretty young and when you play the city elf origin it sounds like she's been dead a while. The toolset also says she's about 26 in Origins, though the devs have said that's not necessarily accurate. She also mentions that she's older than she looks. And DAI is set about 12 years after DAO she's late thirties/early forties.

 

But the dev comment about how he's the youngest companion doesn't seem so crazy to me, I'd peg him at mid-late twenties to early thirties. It's not that he's exceptionally young, it's just that the rest are older.

Wait... Solas and Iron Bull are in their 40s?  o.O  I didn't know that... the rest sounds about right, although I though Cassandra was actually in her early 40s... now that I think about it, isn't Leliana kind of old?  Wasn't she in her 30's in DA:O?  That was 10 years ago... maybe I'm wrong about all this though.  It's not like I've done any research...

Huh, I stand corrected. Okay, so, Leliana's around the same age range as Cassandra. I haven't played Leliana's DLC, so I just wasn't aware. I hadn't known Leliana's age range, so I was going by appearances. True, compared to the rest of the companions, Dorian's on the youngish side. And it's refreshing that the companions are in an older age range this time around.

Yeah, I guess that does make sense... hm... I didn't think he was that old.  Maybe mid to late 30's at most, but you could be right.  Maybe I was thrown off because I thought Cassandra was over 40... so that would put her in the same age bracket as Solas and Blackwall (and Iron Bull, apparently).
