While I am not going to be romancing him on my first or second playthrough, they are women characters, I do think that I might use him as he sounds fun even if I am not romancing him.

Dorian, why? I was up to four playthroughs minimum for DA:I, and I figured, I'm going to be a reasonable human being and not plan out any more than that. Then you turn up with your sass, and your cheekbones, and your man sideboob.
Fifth playthrough, here I come. Stupid sexy Tevinter jerk ![]()

Whoa whoa whoa, he specializes in area denial? My favorite type of crowd control?

Don't forget the "protect allies" part.
It seems he is the support mage specialist of the party. I thought that would be Solas.

You can spec him however you want. I think they were just giving a basic idea of a mage's capabilities.

Haha, I was thinking Solas would be the area denial specialist. Great minds think... uh... that Solas will have their favorite spec?
I was bracing myself for Dorian being a full-on summoner. Summoners are super cool from a lore perspective, but minions can be kind of fiddly in combat.

I feel this needs to be engraved on a plaque and mounted somewhere.

Dorian has fire magic, too, according to Patrick Weekes.

You can specialize them in combat as you see fit, minus their actual specialization. They aren't better at one element versus another unless they are taught those spells.

And I don't know why I thought the Inquisitor and Dorian were flirting. Would've been epic if they did.

That sounded like DirectInquisitor, or whatever they've named the bottom of the dialogue wheel...
FemBritQuisitor (that's a mouthful) had the same tone when she was scolding Cole in yesterday's stream, I think they must tell the VAs to sound grumpy.

Right, but I was thinking that the fancier area denial spells would be in the Rift Mage spec, and therefore inaccessible to Dorian.

As of now, in Rift Mage, we know of 2 definite spells: Firestorm and Stonefist. Also, we have something that looks suspiciously like Merrill's Ensnare spell. But I wouldn't count Dorian out on having area of denial spells. I agree that Rift Mage is bound to have the most, but Dorian might still have one or two.

The dialogue symbols are gone but you still have the nice/lol/direct tone , and yeah it sounded like the grumpy one.
I rarely play Direct/Agressive but to be honest , it sounds quite fun to go all b***face on Dorian. It just doesn't affect him , and the troll is strong in him.
An Inquisitor going more sarcasm/clever could be cool too.
Just I can't imagine a really nice Inquisitor around Dorian.
I mean I'm picturing something like this in my head :
Inquisitor: Oh , Dorian , you are a beautiful man.
Dorian: I know, Inquisitor.
Even Cullen Sir Serious Pants had to sass Dorian a bit...

Alright then. Direct or not, I will give Dorian applause for making any situation sound like flirtatious banter.

Well, of the 4 basic Mage trees, it seems area denial is a fundamental aspect of the class, while damage is incidental. Ice has Ice Mine, Ice Wall, and Freeze as a mechanic. Fire has Fire Wall, Fire Mine, and Fear as a mechanic. Storm has an in built Paralysis system and Static Cage. I have a feeling they weren't necessarily referring to Dorian's specialization, and more as Dorian's role as a Mage, likewise how they were not really focusing on either Iron Bull or Sera's specialization, but role as class/weapon type.
Also, they seem to refer to Barrier/Revive as types of healing more often than not, so I would not be surprised if that is what they were referring to in terms of Dorian's abilities, as opposed to say one of his specialization's (Necromancer) abilities, which they did not even mention and did not directly refer to any of the known necromancy attributes (death magic, and we know Walking Bomb is probably in).
