Being possessed probably boosts his magic, but I don't think he is. I just think he'd a healer on a level greater than Anders or Wynne.

It's possible he's similar to Wynne ala he has a natural talent with summing spirits but stronger then Wynne and has a strong mind that is not easily corruptible by demons. This would make him a very powerful mage by default.

More powerful than Anders or Wynne *without* being possessed? Hmmm.... I would like him to be very powerful. Maybe he's one of the Altus whose bloodline goes back to the Dreamers. Not saying he's a dreamer, but maybe he's an altus, and that bloodline purity produces exceptionally powerful mages. Tevinters seem to be the most powerful mages anyway. They did sink Arlathan to the ground. So maybe.

That picture , with the lavender unicorn and rainbow streak behind his wand, is going to be tragic if he isn't a m/m option.

So at this point are we just going with DHMG being Dorian from the survey?
Or shall we just keep calling him DHMG?
I'm 99% sure he's the Dorian concept, but he might not be called Dorian any more.
I don't want to change the thread title and give the impression that he's been "confirmed" as Dorian, until he actually is. For the meantime, DHMG is the best description for the character based on information they've officially released.

If that happens I will actually force myself to playthrough a dalish elf playthrough. Just to see how that goes.
This is bringing back some terrible memories of Sten fanfiction that someone wrote once...
But yeah, I think Dorian/DHMG is more likely to be an m/m LI.

Been wanting to try my hand at some animation. Couldn't think of anything to make of the guy, so I saw it as an excuse to finally give it a go. Not the smoothest piece of animation though ehehe
I might have quivered a little bit

I bet it's better than some Arishok fanfics.

Would be cool if he was the exiled mage Maevaris spoke of and a nice little tie in to the comic.
Gaider did say that Maevaris was developed too late in the game to become a companion, which means DHMG would have already been at least somewhat fleshed out before the comic was written. So it's very plausible they had the foresight to sneak a little foreshadowing for the game in there, and that he could very well be the Magister she was speaking of.

You could just call him "Mahogany Guy", based on David Gaider's tweet. Something about him and another writer laughing over the war room concept art, saying that the guy looks like he's reacting to the knife in the table. "That is mahogany!" (Obviously a reference to The Hunger Games.)
Edit to add:
I guess it wasn't a tweet, but from David's blog. Anyway, here it is:
David Gaider
DA:I - War Room
Oh, yay! Matt posted the entire thing! This has been one of my desktop backgrounds for ages ever since it was done (even if it’s a wee bit out of date by now).
I laugh every time I see someone suggesting the fellow on the left (next to Cassandra) is saying “That is mahogany!” …that is, in fact, the very first thing Mary and Sheryl and I joked when we saw this image, though we thought it was the woman on the right (with the black hair and the bun).
Just add a gasp! onto the front. ![]()
EDIT: I see people assuming that everyone pictured here (other than the Inquisitor, obviously) are party members. HAHA WRROONNG! Many of them are not. And the woman behind the Inquisitor is not Vivienne, either.
Try again, suckers.

Yeah, and it's worth noting that the comic in which Mae mentioned the healer in the Anderfels came quite a while after they would've decided on Dorian's inclusion.
I think every reference in those comics must be done for a reason (particularly when they already have limited word budgets to tell a story), so it's quite possible that the two things are connected. I suppose that since we aren't going to the Anderfels, if they are the same character then Dorian would've had to have moved on.

Yes! He is still dramatic and still has a moustache, though both are disappointingly less prominent in the latest in-game screenshot. DHMG with arms folded looks weird and scary.
(My main point was that we should keep calling him Dramatic Hands Moustache Guy until Bioware official or unofficially reveals a name, just in case he's actually called Fred now or something. The last thing I want to do is mislead people...)
