Well, Dorian is from Tevinter, so I thought this would be appropriate. This is a pretty cool image depicting the current Archon as being a woman.
This is what my female Inquisitor wore the day Dorian became a male only romance. My male Inquisitor on the other hand is still running around in his small clothes.
Pro-Slavery Dorian?
But, Dorian is a rebel, he's anti tie fighters.

Is anyone else looking forward to a Dorian, Varric, Sera & a sarcastic inquisitor party?
Don't forget "he's too obvious/flamboyant" or "he talks about his sexuality too much" or "he's just a token character being shoved down our throats" or "he's only in the game because Bi-oware is now pandering to the social justice warriors"
*too much being two minutes at the end of a long conversation about why he left Tevinter, in a game when he has hours of other dialogue
I just need to know if he wears silky pajamas to bed.
And also how fast I can get them off.
Hide the game spoilers will you. I don't mind Dorian-related spoilers but not the rest.
I didn't need to know how many areas there were. Bah. Thanks a lot, I'll be staying off the forums now.

Pretty sure the main reasons people would "hate" Dorian would be more plot-relevant than pro-slavery (if it is true that is).
You're more likely to see hate him for:
1) Being a Tevinter Mage
2) Being "a gay" and having him hit on male PCs.
I wanted to say "COME ON! at least wait for the game to come out and see people reaction first!" but...
I played Da2 late and i heard this huge up roar about Anders being a sexually aggressive gay M/M companion and all the hate that generated, I was very much expecting a very different situationthan what the game presented. Now part of my shock is that i never drilled down into the issue because i didn't want to spoil the story anymore than casual contact would bring.
So here i am playing the game Anders comes on to me I say thanks but no thanks and I kept waiting for this gay sexual aggessor to manifest by the 1/2 way point of act 2 I was like WTF.. Anders when are you going to try and push a gay relationship on me? . i fianlly started to drill down on what had people are in an uproar over and I was like PLZ! A guy flirts with you, you say nah. He is understanably disapointed, I mean my male Hawke was fraking awsome of coarse he wanted a piece of me, and then he never bothers you again. err okay never brings up the subject again, hr sure as hell bothered me got tired his complaining but thats a seperate issue. (For the record I think anders was one of the best companion story arcs in DA, his devolution from Awakenings to the end of act 3 was brilliant. One of the best villians in the series made up for the cardboard cut out villian of meredith)
So yeah i think you might be right that people will hate Dorian just because he's gay. its hard for me to grasp just how different the culture of Canada and specifically Vancouver canada is to the states on this subject. The gay pride parade in vancouver is said to have grown into the largest in the world, it started as a protest but now has changed into a celebration where straight high school students will ride public transit with rainbow flag face paint to go see the parade. Where I would say the majority of the crowd is straight just given how large the crowds have grown. Where a party leader of a national party was in the parade, two party leaders actually. I don't think this is as big a deal in Canada. (Which isn't to say that canada doesn't have homophobia) So my initial reaction was don't assume the worse in people but I think history shows things will likely be as bad as you suspect. i hope you are wrong.
i don't care if he's hated he's going to be in my party because I like sarcastic characters.
I don't seek out major spoilers (I'll go dark on launch), but neither do I go out of my way to avoid them. Studies actually show that reading spoilers beforehand slightly increases the subject's enjoyment of the work.
So, in the worst case, if I happen to stumble on a big spoiler, it'll make me enjoy the game more. I think I can live with that.
This. Spoilers don't really bother me, they just make me look forward to the game even more provided that no hugely major spoilers are explicitly shown (like an unedited video of an actual major plot quest cutscene where something extremely important is shown). I love speculation, edited cutscenes and strange concept art, though, as nothing is set in stone on what it actual is/the context.
I will, however, be going on a complete blackout on release until I finish my first playthrough.

The reactions I listed are just expected, despite what the game offers.
Dorian is going to be the first straight-up gay companion, so we don't really have a precedent.
However, despite potentially providing an amazing storyline arc for a potentially great character, some people will fixate on one aspect and just blacken the whole character because of it due to their own perceptions.
It's just like in real life, when people judge people solely on their nationality or sexual orientation and it's not going to change any time soon. Sure, in the USA they are arguing about s/s marriage, but here in Lebanon they're just choosing to ignore talking about it with a "Don't ask don't tell" policy. Even in the USA with all their progressiveness, I got called a "******terrorist" a couple of times. Never in person by people in my generation though, which is a good sign.
The internet only exacerbates the issue, because these people feel more inclined to judge people they will never meet while surrounding themselves with like-minded users.
It's especially bad with sexual orientation.
Think of it as Rule 34 with a slight addendum: If it exists, someone will QQ about it.
No doubt Vivienne and Cassandra will have problems with Dorian. I so look forward to his witty answers in those situations!
I wouldn't hate Dorian if he was pro-slavery; he is after all a product of his culture where it is the norm. I think he would be a bit like ancient Roman aristocracy in his attitude towards it if he wasn't totally anti. His Empire depends on slavery and it works better if you treat them well rather than badly. I'd be more critical if he condoned their abuse in blood magic rituals but since he's out to redeem the image of his people, I think that is unlikely.
I'm planning on romancing him with my gay Dalish hunter. I'd been having a lot of problems with having a straight Dalish male who was both excellent at what he does and extremely handsome, who wasn't already in a relationship before he left the clan. The way I saw it the girls would have been falling over themselves to be his partner and I felt he would have been under some pressure to boost clan numbers. So making him gay meant he could totally relate to Dorian's problem with regard to what is expected of the "perfect" mage. Of course the big issue is going to be the fact that Dorian is from Tevinter, which is why Dorian's attitudes to slavery and blood sacrifice are going to be very important over how, if at all, the relationship develops.
I'm hoping that behind all that bravado and confident demeanour is a deeply sensitive and passionate soul.
To sum up what I think about Dorian
Your Inquisitor is trying for a wee willy winkle?
I heard you can influence the maker, and choose if you have dangly bits in the womb and can choose if you speak with a british or an american accent too. Just pray really hard in the womb, no changes outside it. Thats the rumour anyway.
This topic gives some weird ideas to me lately... xD

Here's my poster contest entry...

More so that I've replaced "Physical" with "Dorian" in that Olivia Newton-John song.
