Hey guys, big Dorian fan here as well! I did some CSI work of my own trying to figure out where we'll be able to recruit him, 'cause I wanna get him in my party asap and I thought I might share it with you. Maybe you can add something or correct me if I'm wrong.
This is all pure speculation based on the footage Bioware has released (only the twitch streams and the trailers, I didn't look at the "leaked" stuff). I will talk about different areas we've seen on the map in the war room, so if you don't wanna know or don't like speculations just ignore this post ![]()
I hope he has a mega charming personality. I'm calling him Freddy if his personality is truly mercury like.
Cool! What's the symbol in the background? Tevinter or something?

What are people's opinion of the "Dorian" experience with regards to his sarcastic side? Will it be better to play an Inquisitor who is the "straight man" to Dorian's "Joker" side.
Straight man as in comedic role not orientation.
i was thinking of a Sera, Dorian,Varric & sarcastic Inquisitor party make up, BUT i am begining to think that you need a straight man to get the best comedic results. What do other people think?

I'm thinking you should not tie yourself to a certain role and respond to every situation the way you personally would. There isn't a locked in personality type this time after all, so you have a lot more freedom to be angry/happy/joking when you want to be, and not have to always be a certain way out of fear of not being able to get special personality dialogue.
I'm just really glad we aren't married to always needing to be diplomatic/sarcastic/or aggressive like the last game.

Really not my point or the question I asked.
I am asking from a dialogue perspective not mechanics.
Do the Sarcastic/humerous characters (Pc & NPC) get a better comedic enviorment with a "straight man" in the party.

I can see that, I imagine Dorian's comedic nature would shine a bit more the more serious your Inquisitor is, since that's the funniest thing about sarcasm.

Hard to say since it'd be a matter of opinion. I guess you'll have to play it out and see what you like best. However, I don't think Dorian is going to be quite the hilarious character you may be wishing. He has a serious side too, and a great deal of the game is pretty dramatic from what we've seen.
I'm sure he'll get in a number of good lines though. He will also be versatile enough to work with whatever is thrown at him.

True.
i have no idea how humerous or sarcastic Sera or Dorian are, I have a pretty good idea with Varric because of DA2 but maybe he's not as sarcastic as he once was because of his experiences post DA2.
I am making assumptions based on what little I have seen of Dorian,Sera and Varric. i think they are educated guesses and Dorian strikes me as a very sarcastic man BUT I could be projecting what I want him to be like, but its based on very little footage.

I'm just curious to see just how many people are going to romance Dorian with a dwarf or qunari. From what I've seen most are going with human or elf. It's a multiple choice poll so feel free to pick more than one if that's what you plan to do.

All 4 eventually. For science! (also cause Dorian is just that good!)

I feel Sera will be a Sarcastic/humourous character, almost all her quotes are mostly jokes, and she has been shown even in concept art to be humorous. Dorian I think will be one of those great characters that are witty. Not always quipping, but has one liners to show off his intelligence or style.
Both have a sense of humor, but as much as I love Sera, I think Dorian's will be more "sophisticated" "Blah, blah, blah, Arrow in my face" vs "What, there's no applause" when Hawke accuses him of talking that way. I feel Dorian will be more serious than Sera but both will have their own style.
IMO, Dorian's jokes and comments will be much more witty and classy, and Sera's more common (a little bit more vulgar maybe)? I can imagine Dorian being witty and subtle but yet very sarcastic at the same time. Sera seems to be using swear words much more.
Just watched the Companions trailer, and I think Dorian will actually be pretty important. He knows the enemy really well it says and is the insight into them. Usually characters who have history with the enemy have a bit more plot with them as well. I mean everyone else's connection other than The advisors and Cassandra seem more based on joining based on having prowess and it being the right thing to do. Dorian seems more involved with the plot, and I actually believe will be the most important male LI.
I wonder which would be more intresting, romancing Dorian with qunari or with elf? I can't decide..

Definitely Qunari, in my opinion. I love the idea that they are both rejected (or just seperate) from their societies and with the whole Qunari/Tevinter war it makes an interesting pairing.
I actually wish there was more Dorian/Qunari art, the majority I've seen is Dorian/Elf.
