I wouldn't really trust name websites, they usually have made-up etymologies that is just whatever sounds cool.
As far as I know, none of the potential origins of "Dorian" in Greek have anything to do with being exiled ![]()

I think (as I'm sure you awesome Dorian fans can confirm) that DG said he named Dorian after a friend ![]()
I could be wrong... But why do gay romances in games, movies or WTFever else seem so... idk adorable? Maybe not correct term. Yet, M/F it just seem so... awkward
. I've yet to see it but no hate replies, please keep civil.
Edit: Btw I mean no offense by any means.
I think is more about the been there, done that factor.
There is a dynamic and power play when it comes to hetero romances that on most cases never changes, to the point of being boring after seeing 1004 of them. When that happen is probably because the writer is really bad at romances or just lazy and so it fall on the most obvious tropes.
For example to me the most interesting hetero romance in the world of video games is by far Ezio Auditore and Sofia Sartor, there is a good balance there and it surprising real. There is another one that is probably gonna to be on games too, Geralt and Yen but I am kind afraid that the CDPR cannot handle that.
You see, the problem is that when female characters have a really conflicting and has strong personality, people in general call her a ****** and if she does not settle down for the male hero, a lot of people gonna to hate the romance. So again and again writers fall on cliches. In someways I avoid the straight romances with male PCs, not because it cannot be good but because I am afraid of seeing the female character doing something that I would facepalm hard.
I would say, I only be playing in the future one male inquisitor because of Dorian.
"Dramatic Hands Mustache Guy."
I regret not being able to romance him with a female for this moniker alone. All my characters would romance him. All of them.
Actually he said it was a prince in the Hercules cartoon from the 60's.
Doh! xD Oh okay!

The argument for the coolness of a romance between Dorian and Lavellan is a good one, but so would be a romance between a Warrior Trevelyan who had been dedicated to becoming a Templar and is now questioning everything because of his feelings for this man. Even better if he has the Templar spec.
I plan on two:
A Mage!Lavellan who learns the Necromancer specialization from him. I enjoy the hint of teacher/student romance to that.
A Templar!Trevelyan who finds the idea of falling in love with a Tevinter mage a little terrifying, but is falling for him anyway.
The strange part is, as a woman, I usually only try male only romances once and then go back to the ones I can see myself as a part of and squee over a lot more. It's a testament to Dorian's awesomeness that I want to experience that story in two different ways.
I was wondering would people like to see companions hook up with other NPC/companions in the game. I'd assume that many of the voice acting could be used in these non player romances.
I'd think I'd like to see something develope between companions, in some cases some companions are not intrested automatically because of your gender. So its pretty easy for them to be flag automatically to seek love elsewhere. And I'm sure as you talk with your companions your preferences will become clear. This could make for some interesting character development.
Its just a thought its not something they could add now if its not already in the game but I still think it would be a nice see. Wasn't there a possability of two of your companions to in ME3 to shack up?

This has been actually discussed quite lot in forums and tumblr too, some are very against it for various reasons, some are neutral and some like it. Personally I love the idea. I'm not sure if it was ME3 but Tali and Garrus will get together if both live and are unromanced some part of games.
In DAI there has been hints of Josephine and Cullen from devs, maybe that was just joking though idk. Iron Bull x Dorian is quite wanted I believe and Sera x some female companion/adviser too. I'm pretty sure we will see one hook up in the game though, it's pretty much tradition almost now in BW games ^^

I hope they're joking. For their sake.
Oh, maker, I can just imagine...
Show your support for Dorian and buy this!

Yea.. I like Cullen x Leliana lot better ![]()
Umm to get back in topic, Dorian x Iron Bull would be intresting and they are both quite easygoing (it seems). Maybe they will get along quite well although difference between their homelands ^^

Ha-ha.
I don't see it happening...I think it might be alluded to in dlc, though, that a party member might be a shipper on deck for them. I think they both have masks, surfaces that they let the world see, and that the chance to get them to bare their hearts would be something the devs would only put Quizzie in the position to do.
I guess, I primarily can't imagine Dorian being attracted to Iron Bull (not because of his Qunari-ness but because of his flippant blood knight qualities), though I could imagine the reverse...
Actually, the more I think about it, the reason I don't see it isn't because they're so different but because they're both so cocky. You don't think they'd get on each other's last nerve?
Although that might be part of the shipping appeal.
Anders x Fenris is a thing, after all.
I can see that, I imagine Dorian's comedic nature would shine a bit more the more serious your Inquisitor is, since that's the funniest thing about sarcasm.
I would have a lot of problems with Iron Bull x Dorian unless things required Iron Bull to leave the Qun completely. Otherwise, honestly, it's really ****** creepy. No way is it healthy to be in a relationship with someone who willfully helps an organizations that believes you should be enslaved, collared and your mouth sewn shut.

Well Iron Bull doesn't seem to fully believe in the Qun, I mean he doesn't follow it in his own life at all XD However I wonder if he still wants to be Qun follower or not, if he wants I think I will have couple unfriendly conversations with him ![]()
I think dorian will stay far from religious considerations and stay with mages and circles... That may be eerie.
Beautiful. Dorian's hidden soul
actually there's to entirely separate lineages for the name dorian.
one is supposedly gaelic from memory but entomology isn't well known so it just might be a coincidence that there's similar names in both languages i've heard many different "meanings" for the word which makes me believe this may be an urban myth.
the other is greek is greek stems from ancient greece "The Dorians" were an ethnic group or tribe or some such, this is the traditional referenced meaning of the Name Dorian and it simply means one from doris/decendant of doris (an area where "the dorians" settled in greece) http://en.wikipedia....i/Doris_(Greece) <for those interested in the place and people.
