I have to say also that the lighting in Inquisition is freaking gorgeous. It makes that indoor scene look warm and even candlelit. Amazing.

Does anyone else recall a quote by a dev, probably David Gaider, that mentioned Dorian coming from a particular region of Tevinter? I'm pretty sure I remember it being said but I can't find it now.

Ummmm, I'm pretty sure he's from Minrathous, Tevinter's capital...I think. If he wasn't from the capital, I'm very sure Gaider hasn't said it yet, cause I would remember something like that.

I just replayed that portion of the interview. It was more about Dorian's social status, but no definite "he is from XXXX".

I just have a really vague memory of someone mentioning that Dorian is from either the east or west of Tevinter, and that's why he looks different to other Tevinter characters we've met in previous games, and that this was something that would come up in the game.

 

I could be totally wrong, and that might be a false memory or something I just completely misremembered.

Ok then, based on what I know of Tevinter lore and the screenshot below, I think he's either from Qarinus, Marothius, or Carastes. Maybe even Perivantium, though that one's a little too Southern, methinks.

Indeed. It's very interesting. IIRC, in the comics, when we went to Qarinus actually, there were some darker skinned people. Though we did see some blonde and blue eyed people like Mae roaming around too.

You've got a lot to learn. Other than forearms, shoulders are my number one physical feature I'm most drawn to.

Is it just me or has Dorian's appearance changed in more ways than just eye color... 

In the latest video he looks a lot younger and "sexier" than he did in previous appearances. Back when they first started showing him off I was a tad disappointed by how much older he looked. He looked like he was in his late 30s, early 40s. I'm so glad they tweaked his appearance a bit.

I think it's also the lightning and invironment. DAI looks hyper-realistic, so sometimes the light and the shadows can create wtf moments and people can look older/uglier/whatever just like in real life.

I remember Cullen's look from one of the previous trailer just made me "wut" because I know he was supposed to be pretty, but looked like crap instead - because of the angle of the camera and some shadows. While in the daylight he looks very much ok.

I also remember how Kaidan looked in the bright light in the end of ME3, like, completely different because there's always pretty dark in the game 90% of the time.

 

It goes like this - same face, different amount of light and different angles.

Indeed. I would imagine all the top tier students study in Minrathous at the Circle of Razikale, so he was definitely a student there.
