I'm one of those people who didn't dare attempt the Orzammar quests at a low level, but for Dorian, I will brave a boss tantamount to Jarvia's difficulty ten times over.

 

That's the spirit (And I always did Orzammar last myself.)

 

I hope someone with early access will dispel this recruitment mystery for us. We're clearly in dire need of that spoiler.

Even if Dorian is the last companion, I don't think he will be too late. In the one live stream, when you see him and Cullen playing chess, Skyhold is still being worked on and I doubt Dorian and Cullen just became friends over night. It would be too big of a character shift for the mage fearing Cullen to suddenly become besties with a Tevinter Magister soon after they meet. Even with the end of DA2, just because he thinks the Templars are wrong doesn't mean his bias against mages vanished.

aDoriBull. Yes, I support this union. Ok, perhaps on my third playthrough. And not the running off part.

 

And even if we can only recruit Dorian last - Maker forbid - I'm sure we'll have at least 50+ hours to spend with him, considering a few of the reviewers already mentioned 80+ hour playthroughs.

It would seem that the first act is the formation of the Inquisition, and it's growth into an organization that requires a base like Skyhold. Since the Venatori are working for the Big Bad it would make sense to introduce Dorian at a point where the party is just starting to figure out who caused the blast at the Conclave.

Dorian has something of a similar role as Sagacious Zu did in Jade Empire. He has a backstory related to the antagonist(s) but helps to flesh out why they made the decisions they did instead of just using the "because they're evil" excuse.

No big secret here.  Just pretty much what I said before. I heard from a very reliable source that Dorian is the last teamate able to be recruited.  I don't have any specifics though, but from the sounds of it you have to advance the story forward a bit more then all the rest of the team.  However, apparently it's still early on in the game.  Looking forward to seeing how early.   

 

Hopefully early on. I mean I don't want it to be over 10 hours in until be meet him. Then only 40/90 hours left, depending on what you do.

Which reviews mentioned him? I've mostly been skimming and haven't seen anything about him.

 

That's good to hear, though. If Bull's sex scene with a male Inquisitor is anything like the one with a female Inquisitor, Dorian is absolutely going to be my canon LI, so I'm glad he's got so much going for him apparently.

The only things I've found is that Eurogamer mentioned that he was their favorite companion and that IGN felt that he was the standout when it came to writing and acting.

The fact that a couple of reviews go out of their way to mention Dorian specifically is making me all giddy.
