So it seems like they are keeping Tevinter closer to the slavery of antiquity than the slavery seen over the last 400 years. It makes sense and should make it interesting to compare what Fenris described and what Dorian describes (and I am totally not surprised that Dorian didn't personally own slaves)

I dunno. I somehow find circles more grim than "that", but that's just me. I mean, if they pay them for Maker's sake and treat them well, what's the difference between being a servant in Orlais and a slave in Tevinter? I mean there is a difference, but really though. "You were given to the Circle, I was given to the Chantry - none of us are free". The only source we hadbefore Dorian was Fenris, and in all honesty - he's... well, Fenris.

"You were given to the Circle, I was given to the Chantry - none of us are free"

I almost find myself switching in the word "servant" for slave, based on the way Dorian talks. Granted, I know that's probably not always applicable, but "slave" is not what I'd use to describe what Dorian is saying.

I'm anti-circle. I think it's a shitty system, and prone to gross abuses. Like slavery is! I don't know enough about Orlais to comment about that, though. I'm wary of comparing things that aren't slavery to slavery, though.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying any of it is good at all. But I still consider Fenris just as credible as Dorian in this instance. Dorian comes from the top, so of course he'll be somewhat blind to it, though I think we need more of that conversation, to be honest. Fenris is just as equally biased due to his treatment at the hands of one master. Though he's seen the bad, we have seen magisters like Mae who don't seem bad to me either.

Anyway, regarding the romance that could end due to the LI's altruism, I found something in the spoiler thread, that if true, more or less confirms which one it is.

Someone found file names that imply the Inquisitor can have a hand in choosing the new Divine. Apparently the options are Leliana, Cassandra, and Vivienne. Assuming this is true, I would guess that Cassandra is the LI in question, and the reviewer encouraged her to become the Divine in order to help make the world a better place. In the first conversation you have with Cassandra she talks a lot about how the Chantry is important but flawed and it needs to be changed in order to truly help people and achieve the dream Andraste had for Thedas. So, again, assuming the file names are what they appear to be, I'm 90% sure it's not Dorian who was the LI mentioned.

Good, I'm all for Cassie reforming the Chantry. I'm not intimidated by her as many seem to be...as I'm uh, kinda like her in demeanor, lol. I don't know if I'll use her much in battle (since I'll be a mage and plan on dragging Dorian with me mostly everywhere, but there's Iron Bull and Blackwall who could tank), but I'll give her the attention she needs. Even the least-liked companion (heh, Sebastion in DA2 and Wynne in DAO) gets his/her side quests done. I'm just fair that way, lol.

I know you tried to be vague, but that one sentence alone gives a pretty good feel of who it might be . It is further narrowed down when you mention that Blackwall and Iron Bull could tank, and when the post you quote mentions that it is an LI. Might wanna spoiler tag that.

Yay!  Loving the information I'm reading.  Thanks so much for everyone who is posting the details about Dorian, and also I appreciate you using proper spoiler etiquette for those who claim to not want spoilers.  Though if you are still on BSN at this point, you may be lying to yourself about not wanting spoilers.

I agree. I definitely going to give it to Cassandra since her opinions on faith basically mirror my own, but even if they didn't, there's no way I'd give it to Vivienne. I love Vivienne as a character, but she'd make a terrible Divine because she is so self-involved. I generally find Leliana annoying, but she'd make a much better Divine than Vivienne if Cassandra wasn't an option.
