Go for it. I don't see how romancing Dorian would magically turn you gay. It's not something you can catch; you either are or you aren't.
lol "....magically turn you gay". I see what you did there.

I'm experiencing a little problem with Dori's romance. After I had him n his father talk, did the flirt option afterwards. I walk up to him later, ask for a kiss. When they kiss a 2nd time, I get an error and kicked out of game. WTF?!
Has this happen to others? A similar thing happens when I respec.

Yes!!! This has happened to me as well. I'm see if anything has changed when I get home.
I just did it... I think... I hope? Maybe it fixed itself, either way. I walked up to Dori, asked for a kiss then hit the back out of conversation, circle for PS4. Dori kept talking and screen faded, then showed the kissing. I noticed, each time I got the error, my health bar and mini map were on during the kiss. Now after doing the back out. No HUD during scene.
I have my eyes closed through the majority of this thread but I just wanted to pop in and ask whether race ever plays a role in Dorian's romance at all? I'm playing a Qunari and I found it really weird that NO ONE in his recruitment arc has mentioned that at all especially since

SpoilerDorian also never mentioned it in the initial conversation you can have with him. So just vaguely does race play a role later on with him? Not expecting anything huge but a mention or two at least would be nice.
I'm playing an elf, and mine did. It wasn't big or anything, but I was able to have a conversation with him about Dalish elves shortly after recruiting him. I'd be surprised if you didn't have one, too.

Haven't so far, but I'm still hoping.
Just popping in to say how much I adore Dorian. I will never be able to be a dick to him. He and my Inquisitors are going to be like my Hawkes with Aveline and Varric. Always besties, no matter what sort of character I'm playing. >_>

I have seen clips of him commenting on the qunari player and it was done at the same/time place as the elf and mage inquisitor.

Really? How far in was this? Because he hasn't commented on the fact that I'm a mage either, that I remember anyway. Weird.
I'm pretty annoyed. I've swapped and changed everything from when I first got to Skyhold and the Felix scene will not trigger. Makes me think I must have locked in with something in Haven.

I experienced something similar. I asked Solas to talk about himself and it seems like there's a cutscene but I also got an error and the game kicked me out.
DAI turned out to be just like Skyrim. Splendid but buggy as hell.

I'm going to go back /again/ before I went to Skyhold and try and figure this out later tonight. The save I went back to last time before I got to Skyhold and I was still in Haven, and I had already asked Dorian about Alexius (I assume anyway, because the option was never there at Skyhold). I just went back to a save at Haven and talked to him, and had the option to say 'Have you seen Alexius' and I didn't ask it - I think that was the first time I went up to him since he joined. So I'll play through the ending of Act 1 (again, for the 3rd time) and get to Skyhold where hopefully I can get the quest to trigger.
Because if it doesn't work, then it means my entire game is bugged because it won't trigger as soon as I get to Skyhold with changing things around, and it won't trigger in my 36hour save (of which I've progressed significantly in the story), and if it doesn't trigger without ever having done anything to him after he joins, then well, yeh, it's probably in my save.
So if this doesn't work, I give up, and will have to live with myself not romancing as I cannot bring myself to start a new game yet. It's a shame if that happens though, because this was probably the main thing I was looking forward to in this game. I'm much more of a story guy than a gameplay one, and his romance seems really well done from what I've heard. I will keep those who are still struggling posted in here.
So I've just got Dorian's personal quest but something seems fishy, I am one that generally likes to make all of his companions happy so if someone could help me choose what to do I'd appreciate it greatly

I feel your pain. I've done similar things and it still hasn't triggered. I tried everything on my farthest along save and it hasn't worked. Tomorrow I'm going to go back 15 hours to a save right when I got to sky hold and see if I can trigger it. It might have been haven for me too, though.I'm going to go back /again/ before I went to Skyhold and try and figure this out later tonight. Ok so I got the Felix scene to trigger. Here is exactly what I did:
I did the final quest of Act 1 straight after Redcliffe - meaning zero interaction with Dorian. Previously I had talked to him/asked about Alexius.
I said 'Corypheus must be stopped' then at Skyhold.
As soon as I got to Skyhold, I talked to Dorian, and triggered his normal cutscene that happens to him once you get there.
I then left the area (Storm Coast), then came back, talked to him again, and the Felix scene triggered straight away, and now Mother Giselle is outside.
SO I have narrowed it down to two things: Either you need to not talk to Dorian at all in Haven (or at least not ask him about Alexius - I do not want to go through and see exactly what, so it is better not to talk to him at all) OR you need to say 'Corypheus must be stopped' at Skyhold. It can't be anything else because when I previously went back through the end of Act 1 and then to Skyhold to try and trigger it, it never did, regardless of what order I judged Alexius in/talked to Dorian (meaning if I had said Corypheus must be stopped on that one, it may have triggered, but I did not say that on that one).
Hope I have helped some people out. I am absolutely awash with relief. I have about 20hours of gameplay to catch up on, but I wanted to change my specialisation anyway, and I don't care if it means my primary canon can finally be fulfilled.
Side note: I also changed the difficulty from Normal to Casual so I could get to Skyhold quicker, but I doubt this has any bearing.
Remember when Dorian's ass got the game banned in India? So iconic

Thanks!! I'm gonna try this.
But seriously, This had to be a bug coz it doesn't make any sense.
Please fix this, Bioware.

He says something about them being so muscular (I don't remember the exact phrase) i.e. he likes them.
It has to be Corypheus must be stopped that starts his personal quest. I talked Dorian's ear off in Haven about everything, but I DID chose that response during my Inquisitor's speech.
'Corpypheus must be stopped' seems to make sense, I think I selected that response as well? If it helps anyone: I'd been worried Dorian's quest wouldn't trigger - after testing both story routes out, I'd very reluctantly went the Templar route, and in that save hadn't talked to Dorian before Skyhold. I exhausted all of his dialogue (including his glitchy first scene, that was awkward, lots of staring), and exhausted all of Mother Giselle's dialogue in the garden. If I remember correctly, Dorian has at four requests on the War Table, two when you first get to Skyhold (one unlocks another war table quest, and another leads to his Venatori side-quests). With the approval from the war table, and with only 2/3 Venatori camps completed, I was able to go from Felix letter (Alexius dialogue) - Mother Giselle in great hall - Dorian quest - romance quest consecutively.
(Ha! Dorian will indeed bring up your race if you're a Qunari/Tal-Vashoth, and if he's got no other dialogue to use. I had an undignified snort over it today. If you pick the right comment, he'll mention the, ah, 'appreciation' he's had for the Tal-Vashoth he's interacted with in the past. I think he may have brought it up in some of the romance dialogue as well? Something about muscles. Between him and Sera, a quarter of your companions have a tall, muscled Qunari fetish.)
