Dorian is stopping me from romancing anyone else, just because of how much I love him and his romance. I'm not sure this is infuriating or not. xD Very well made character; he's definitely one of my favourite characters now.

Dorian seems to look best in greens or whites because of his olive skin tone. I have yet to see him in black, though. What is the best mage armor in the game? Please tell me it isn't yellow. That plaid horror wasn't even sold. I destroyed it. Ick.

Have you guys noticed that Dorian's reception has been surprisingly positive? I really didn't expect that from a gay male.

All my real life friends love Dorian to pieces, and the people I interact online also love him, or at least don't hate him. 

There's even a thread on reddit about straight men who romanced Dorian and found him awesome. 

I'm completely shocked. (And pleased). 

It's even more suprising considering the very poor reaction Sera is getting...

The tides are turning, though, lgbt people are becoming more accepted. I feel like I hear less homophobia, noticeably, as time goes by. Even one of my nieces went to a Pride support meeting, and she's always been a good kid but I never really considered she'd be open-minded (I've only told my mother I'm trans- I think she lives in denial over it but she's otherwise a good person, and it's not a pressing matter in my life any more). I follow NoH8 on Facebook, and George Takei, and the lgbt support seems to come more often than stories of hate, assuming I don't filter them out because... it just hurts too much reading those kinds of stories.

 

Dorian resonates with me on a primal level. The idea of hiding, of "screaming on the inside", of pretending to be something else just to save face. I think a lot of people can identify with that even if it isn't strictly lgbt related.

What I love about this is that they cannot go back. Like you said, Dorian's gained quite a following and I applaud Gaider for writing the character as he did.

 

The more visible and well-written characters like Dorian are, the more it means for other queer characters to be created with as much depth and care as their heterosexual counterparts and be brought to the forefront.

 

It'll take another four to six years, but I'll be looking forward to what would that entail for Dragon Age 4...

I have to say that after the whole fiasco about Anders hitting on male PCs, how they kinda implied they wouldn't do that again and that interview where Cameron sounded like he was saying that avoiding the non-straight romances meant you wouldn't encounter anything gay, I'm very pleasantly surprised Dorian's quest is very clear about his sexual orientation. The pessimist in me thought it would all be very easily avoided if you don't take the flirts. By the way, does anyone know if Bull mentions fancying guys outside of the possible Bull/Dorian banter?

 

Here's to hoping for a non-straight initial companion in the next game.

Ah too bad I am too impatient to wait for the patch to fix Dorian from his frozen state. Indeed I wonder if there will be a patch at all for that particular issue. Rode the Bull instead and no regrets. Drama aside he is one of the more easygoing companions around, strange as it is to say this about a Qunari.

 

But next playthrough, yes next playthrough. (Would siding with Templars affect Dorian approval rates?) Hinterlands 100% will be very painful though. Damn you Draffalo! And the Ball mission. Ugh hates that mission. Too many hallways.

 

Hopefully by then the banter bug at least would be fixed. Sighhhh.

I watched all the spiolers on youtube to make educated choices and i blame DanaDuchy for my sorry state for a past weeks. She/he posted the Dorian romace scene and i watched and i loved it so much and that sass and ass .

The Bull , I just can't ...the sexual stuff makes me uncomfortable.Cullen it was so sweet I was about to vomit.

Ok got it. I tried that out only once, but couldn't remember the candle in front of the camera.

 

Can anyone tell me what the inquisitor exactly says in english, after you give the amulet back and choose the middle dialogue option? Dorian says, the people would accuse him of being the magister who uses you. The middle option should read something like "use me".

Well, in light of recent events, I rode the Bull today.

That's what happened with me on my first Inquisitor.  I flirted with Dorian the whole game, then realized I couldn't actually do the romance.  So very late in the game I got all of Iron Bull's content at one time (I had been saving his personal quest just in case I wasn't able to get Dorian's).  I really enjoyed it!

I think this is less about him not wanting the Inquisitor to steal the spotlight, and more about him not wanting the Inquisitor to fix what he considers "his" mess. It's foreshadowed in the whole thing with the amulet: he doesn't want to feel like he's using the Inquisitor, or that other people think he's using the Inquisitor. The "emotional blackmail" line is a joke, as he immediately says in the following sentence

V:  The triplets who could finish each others sentences, yeah why?

 

D:  They were asking me questions about you.

I love the good-natured teasing that happens in Dorian's romance.  His line to the Inquisitor after the final battle (when they first retire back to the Inquisitor's bedroom):  "Two things in private before you run off:  First, you are terribly dull and I hate you......" is genius.  If I hadn't already fallen for Dorian by then, that line alone would have sealed the deal.  Such a snarky little sh*t, but I love him for it.

In the german version the dialogue goes like this (roughly translated):

 

Dorian: "...that's what everyone is going to say. I'm the magister who is going to use you."

Inquisitor: *snarky voice* "Oh, that's all? Well, go ahead and use me then, or do you just have a big mouth?" or it was "Oh, that's all? What are you waiting for? Use me, or do you just have a big mouth?"... can't remember exactly at the moment.

Dorian: *laughter* "Oh, you are wonderful."

Well to be fair, Sera's romance is manipulative to the point of abuse so I'm not surprised so many don't like her. But yeah, even on the DA reddit most reactions to Dorian are extremely positive.

Yeah,it feels like the middle option (which *kind of* reminds me of sarcastic from DA2) is the best when talking to him. Most of the times at least.
