I'm really irritated at the tumblr posts lately (not many, but a few) that have popped up over him being "pro-slavery" when he's obviously not. He was raised around it, thought it was "normal" until he came down south. And even in banter, he's never rude to Solas or Sera (beyond mage rivalry or Sera just being Sera). It seems to me that it's heavily implied that he isn't for "slavery" and may even want to eradicate it in Tevinter entirely. Especially during the Well of Sorrow's conversation you have with him after that quest. He's so inspired then to make Tevinter better.

Just getting tired of the hate he doesn't deserve. What, people can't change?

I'm quite sure he will stay for a bit in the South before going to Tevinter.

Sure, but in my case at least, dialogue only triggers correctly post-game if I don't speak to him at the party.

Since this thread is lacking some Dorian/Dwarf interaction, I decided to fill that gap with a few screenshots, for those who are curious. Romance spoilers obviously:

Now with better formatting, hopefully...

I just hit the block button or whatever it is. They're just not worth engaging. Anyone who can twist "I had never considered it until recently" (forgive my paraphrasing) into "slavery is wonderful and I hate elves" has clearly got an agenda.

He actually favours slavery, He has no problem with them though but in a conversation with him, he says elves/human who become slaves does that to help their families. He doesn't have a slave, but his house does. It's just like orlesian servants but as a slave, doing as it's master commands.

He actually seems sort of neutral on it. I don't think he favors it, exactly, but I think he is defensive about the fact everyone accuses Tevinter of being the hellhole of the world while ignoring the terrible existence of their own people. I think it is one of those things that come from living abroad. While you start to see things through other people's points of view and see the trouble of your own homeland, you can still get a bit defensive about it, even if you personal don't agree and especially if it seems like they are ignoring their own problems in favor of your homelands (it is pretty common thing that happens with people who have lived abroad and I know I have experience similar thing).

I don't think he favors it , he just doesn't understand the "no slavery" of other countries.

And he says slaves , and peasents/ elves in alienage have more or less the same situation , except slavery can offer benefit (I suppose depending on the type of slaves , some are educated for their job , and if they already have some skills can sell themselves for more)

Anyway I don't agree , even if in some  cases the situation of a slave can be better than some free men stuck in ghetto , slavery is still a huge wall for human rights to bloom .So it just leads to more abuse ( seeing people as "things" is a fertile soil for atrocities afterall)

The thing is Dorian is just defending his country , in numerous banter with Sera and Solas , he sounds pretty sorry about the whole debacle.

He says he's happy to have the chance to interract with free elves (first time in his life) , also he's very sorry about the fall of Arlathan and destroying elven culture.

I think it's just a case of Dorian being short signed , because he had a life of privilege.I doubt slaves go complain to their master's son , and I doubt Dorian was hanging out with common folks.

This.

Plus, I actually want to hear how Orlais is better in that regard, because it seems some folks in Tevinter treat their elven slaves better than Orlesians treat their servants. And no one bats an eye, and still Tevinter is a hell on earth and Orlais is like... meh, it could be worse. I find this ironic.

Are you saying that, once I get there, if I don't talk to him, then he says he's staying altogether, or just staying "for a while." That really bothered me about Zevran in DAO, the slide after the credits says he "stayed with the Hero of Ferelden- for a while" and I was like what? He said he was staying, not that he was going to leave my PC once he got bored or something. Either stay-stay, like you said you would, or say to the PC that you're not planning on staying and give my character a chance to tell him he'd go with him and help try to change things. Something, you know?

Yep. The flirt options that initiate the romance are the one during the aftermath of seeing his father or the one when Giselle confronts him about his intentions. If you don't take either of those, that's when the opportunity passes you by.

I just stopped by to day that Dorian is hands down the best character in the game.  So multi-layered, such a real person.  I'm going to have to uncharacteristically play a male Inquisitor for my second go-round just so I can romance him.  Kudo's to his writer, and to all the writers in this game.  Thank you.

If you didn't pick any flirt options before the mother Giselle confrontation, Dorian still asks you about the rumor that you both are intimate? Seems strange, since you didn't give any reason for the rumor to actually arise at all.

According to Josephine, the Inquisitor is rumored to involved with all three advisers, Cassandra, Dorian, Mother Giselle, several nobles, and some man named Phillip who may or may not exist, regardless of race or gender. You're pretty famous so it makes sense that people would be talking about you and most rumors are baseless anyway.

It's not strange, it's funny as hell. What's more funny tho, if you romance Bull, there are like 0 rumors about you and him. But there's still rumors about the Inq. and Dorian :D You can also say something like that's odd as f and wonder what would Bull himself think about that.

I think that southern people can't get over the fact that Dorian is from Tevinter. And they ship it hard. xD And I mean, who the hell wouldn't, right?

ps that famous conversation that Disgusted noise mentioned:

LOVE the pictures! Although the whole Dorian + Dwarf thing is messing with my canon so much. Love the formal attire!

Others have covered Dorian's opinion on slavery quite nicely, so there's no point in discussing that...

How did I miss Josephine talking about the rumours?! Dagnabbity...

I'm curious as to whether anyone has romanced Dorian after getting his crisis conversation? My first romance with him was all happy love love but this time around I'm playing a proud Dalish elf and I'm enjoying the angry tension between the two of them. Haven't chosen any flirt options but was planning to when his personal mission came up.

If you chose to make Alexius Tranquil, D is very unhappy about it and that was when his crisis dialogue came up for me. I'm still planning on romancing him but I have some work to do to get his approval high enough for his personal quest to appear.

Btw the crisis dialogue was fantastic IMO

I know what you mean. It's quite odd to look at other people's characters interacting with Dorian, when in your headcanon only your Inquisitor is romancing him at the moment.

I just love the body height difference, when the Inquisitor is a dwarf. It somehow undermines Dorian's statement of protecting the Inquisitor, in a sense of a taller person protecting a shorter one, due to physical capabilities, although it might not be necessary at all. Don't know. I just think it's cool somehow.

Oh I'm very curious about the crisis scenes. I only saw Cass' on youtube - it seems they are pretty hard to trigger so most people haven't even seen them, much less uploaded them.

I think every companion has one when their approval gets low. Some LIs also have an additional point where they can break up with you.

I shall watch that crisis-scene on Youtube then whenever it might be uploaded, because it is impossible for my Inquisitor to ever trigger that scene: they simply adore each other.

Plus, Alexius working as a researcher for which I take all the credit! Yay!

Yeah, I feel like the dwarf would take the more... dominant position in the relationship, but he doesn't so he creates this anti-stereotypical dynamic.

The dance is adorable, though.

Is it bad that I changed my decision on Alexus based on Dorian's approval? I was going to make him tranquil, finding it appropriate, but I thought about it and Dorian's disapproval combined made me reconsider.
