I don't think the two war table missions are requirements. Immediately after arriving in skyhold, I went to talk to him, went downstairs and there she was. I think the whole thing with him is a bit buggy.

I also had really high approval with him so maybe that helped? Playing as a pro-rebellion mage makes getting approval from him really easy.

Approval is key for sure!  If you side with mage freedom and say you will stop coryepheus (as your stated goal when becoming inquisitor) you will have enough to trigger his talk about felix.  Which is a requirement to getting the quest!  Though if you still haven't gotten it yet, the one less Venatori quest will help you get that little bit of approval you need.  (or not so little if you sided with the templars).

I'm currently on my 3rd playthrough, with a character I specifically rolled for Dorian.  I had no problem with his personal quest on my first playthrough, but I couldn't get it to work at all on my 2nd.  Third time around, it worked with no problems.

 

I sided with the mages both times it worked, but I think the deciding factor is how much you talk to Mother Giselle back in Haven.  I completely exhausted her conversation options in both playthroughs that his personal quest worked, and I didn't speak to her at all in the one that didn't.

So, I've been avoiding spoilers like crazy, have scrolled through pages just to see if there was any new artwork...awesome work as always by some amazing artists.  Just wanted to share this - Dorian and I (well technically, Matteo Trevalyan but why be picky at a time like this) KISSED!!!!  omg, can I just say SQUEEEEE!!!!

I love Dorian, and so does my Adaar, but Bioware apparently doesn't love my Adaar as much as Dorian and I do.

I can't believe I don't have enough approval, since I gained approval every time I talked to him practically, never did anything that made him lose approval, and whenever you kill one of those Venatori he "greatly approves", and the war table missions don't hurt. So I'm just looking for anything that might help at this point. I want to figure it out so I don't mess it up on my Dorian romance playthrough.

Maybe, you should certainly try exhausting her dialogue. I saw someone who got a Leliana bugged quest by fast travelling to her, "talking" and back like 5 times so try that as well with Dorian and Giselle?

The temptation to choose those flirt options. I think when I get around to my Renegade world state, my renegade Inquisitor will just suck up to Dorian and make sure he stays happy enough to get a piece of that. Or I can just do another Mage playthrough!

I don't think my game was bugged, but anyway, in my case, I:

1. Used flirt options in Haven.
2. Increased approval through dialogue in Haven.
3. Did not talk about Alexius in Haven.
4. Chose "Corypheus must be stopped" option. 
5. Finished the One less Venatoi quest.
6. Finished two War Table quests related to Dorian.

Afterwards, both the cutscene about Alexius' son and the quest from Giselle appeared pretty fast.

I love seeing peoples art creations. Particular how diverse the ways the Artists goes from having the image in their mind to creating it on canvas/other things they use to draw on.

At the very end when he says: "I hope this ends soon." What did that supposed to mean? I just don't get it. Was he about to push the inquisitor over the balcony or what? That would have been the most mindblowing /facepalm cliffhanger ever.

 

Sorry for that stupid question, but I fail to comprehend anything at the moment. The last 30 minutes of the game were thrilling and exhausting at the same time. The Dorian romance was fantastic and I loved every minute of it. I'm so happy and grateful with what we got. Dorian raised the bar quite high and I can't wait to see what Bioware has in stock for the next installment.

 

It's all over now... *sigh* and so the wait for the next Dragon Age game begins.

He was just being sarcastic. Basically he meant the opposite of everything he said. He's not really someone to be forthright about his feelings unless taken off guard. Humor is a defense mechanism for him.

I'm a broke college student, so I feel you. I really do. I too, though, wouldn't mind his Romance card... OR MAYBE A SHIRT WITH ALL 3!? YEAH? YEAH1!!!

Aww, I was sort of hoping it was his romance card. That's definitely my favorite of the three.

I was hoping for the romance card too! I love the open palm design, he just looks so happy and content there, versus the basic card.

So I wasn't getting anything, even after I exhausted all conversations with Mother Giselle. So I went backwards, about twenty hours, but I wasn't upset because I hadn't done too much that couldn't be repeated (and I've already beaten it once, so this time I'm not worried about taking my time). All I did was the war table mission to find the Venatori that Dorian wants to hunt down, and the one other war table mission involving the magister in Tevinter (sorry, can't remember her name). And then, the only thing I did differently is I imprisoned Alexius. I didn't make him an agent, didn't execute him, just imprisoned him. Immediately went to talk to Dorian and got the conversation about Felix. When I went downstairs there was Mother Giselle.

 

So I guess that's what I got to do from now on. Not too upset about needing to redo those twenty hours. I don't care, I'd rather know how to progress things with Dorian for my future playthrough with him as my romance.

 

I just wanted to detail what I did, in case anybody finds it useful. Thanks everybody for their advice!
