So we do get some sort of happily ever after ending... But Dorian style.He was just being sarcastic. Basically he meant the opposite of everything he said. He's not really someone to be forthright about his feelings unless taken off guard. Humor is a defense mechanism for him.

Did anyone ever get Dorian to comment the inquisitor's health after a battle? Blackwall apparently rarely says "Are you alright, love?", when the inquisitor is in a relationship with him and takes damage during combat.
Dorian never randomly said anything romance related like that during our travels yet and I have him in the party on every mission. A pity, considering how much that would raise the bar on the awesomeness scale for sure.

I finally got one of these from Dorian. He just yelled out "Are you alright, amatus? Good, then so am I"
I was playing as Dorian at the time he said it, and it's been about 70hours of him not caring before then xD
That's one small detail I love about the DA games, companions calling out if you fall or something, I know Dorian screams no sometimes, but if that's romanced only or not I've no idea. I'm surprised they never say anything after being revived though, but I've never heard him ask if the Inquisitor is alright either so...
Still waiting for a youtube video of all the battle cries, like there is one for DA2.

If you don't take Dorian into the fade with you does he still have a scene referencing it?
I know Cassandra says she was terrified for you when she heard you had fallen into the fade, whether or not she is romanced.
Does Dorian say something along those lines as well or is his scene dependent upon him going with you? I've only ever taken him with me because he is my boo and I can't leave him for even a moment.
He didn't say anything when I didn't bring him, so yes. You need to bring him for him to talk to give you the extra lines of "I thought I lost you".
Everytime that scene plays I just wanna reach through and hug him saying "It's ok! I'm here!" Anyways...

He does want to go back to Tevinter, but at the same time you're there in southern Thedas and he doesn't want to leave you. It is conflicting in what he says, but I'm pretty sure he sticks around for a long time if not "forever". Although as somebody pointed out, if we go to Tevinter then Dorian might be present.
perhaps if we go to tevinter, and dorian is romanced then the inquistor can make an appereance as a cameo? 
After all, once I get around to doing a romance for dorian pt, I imagine my character would want to go to tevinter with dorian to help him reform his country.

As far as I know :
If you trigger the party convo (the one where he tells you he's staying "for now"), then post-credits he says "It will be difficult to return to Tevinter after all this. And leaving you? Most difficult of all. I'd almost rather let the Imperium rot. Such is my lot. Just a little longer then".
If you don't speak to him at the party, you get a cute dialogue where he says to himself "He'll come speak to you eventually Dorian. He has so much on his mind". Then post-credits he and the Inquisitor have this exchange:
Dorian: Staying in the South could prove interesting. One's always warmest next to the fire.
Inquisitor: That's the only reason you stayed?
Dorian: Not the only reason.
Maybe it's just a quirk of my particular playthrough but it seems a bit backwards to me.

I think it is actually bugged? Weird that the thing that changes the dialogue is whether or not you speak to him at the party, of all things, too.

It's like gay stories always have to end in some dramatic way. It could be worse though. Have you ever watched a gay themed movie? They always end up in serious drama and often death, so Dorian's and the Inquisitor's story is all pink clouds and rainbows in comparison.

As far as Bull, they could always break Dorian and Bull up (Dorian mostly seems to be in it because Bull is the only guy available rather than genuine devotion on his part), but they're not going to break up a protagonist and their LI.
He seems pretty fine about staying if you convince him in the "emotional blackmail" (holy crap i almost wrote "blackwall") conversation, and in the second version of the ending lines he says he's staying in the South rather than eventually returning home.
(Or at least, that version of the ending lines is much more "I'll stay here with you" than the alternative, where he says he's eventually leaving.)
I think staying with the Inquisitor more or less permanently is included as an ending in the romance, but it seems to trigger only under pretty strange conditions, rather than as a direct response to the Inquisitor's asking him to stay.

I definitely realised the "You are terribly dull and I hate you" thing was a joke, but I think his sarcasm kinda flew over my head at that point.
First playthrough I never got Dorian's personal quest, but at the end he kept saying he only had one friend left anywhere so he was staying put. (I was confused)
I just did his personal quest last night on my second playthrough, and wow.
I think based on personal quests, Dorian's and Blackwall's are my favs. Which also makes them my favorite companions.
Just popping into the Dorian thread to finally show my appreciation for his awesomeness since I finally got to know him a little better!
(although so awkward talking with him as a f!Quizzy, since the VA for Dorian so outclasses either of the female Quizzy VA's (they are both very flat))
