I wish the companions will move around Skyhold, doing different things... Imagine finding Dorian going through the bottles of Thedas we've found. Or Cass and Josie in a book club over Varric's books.

I also demand to know where the bathroom is. I found the kitchen. What goes in, must comes out etc. etc.

That is one of the things I miss from DA2, when Anders or Merrill moves in, you click on your stuff and get those little monologues about them. I thought it showed a certain life and it would have been nice if they had included something similar in DAI, such as in your room, books or clothes (or wine bottles I guess) with Dorian, or Varric's books with Cassandra, just little signs that your love interest had been there.

I think the thing is DA2 was a much more personal story, one man's struggles etc.

The Inquisitor doesn't even feel like a full character to me. The whole Inquisition force was the protagonist, from the highest commander to the kitchen maid. I guess some fans got the scope of the task/saving the world they wanted, but we lost the personal touches in trade.

On a much more pleasant Dorian related topic, does anyone have any Dorian/Inquisitor headcanons? I would love to read them if so. <3

Dorian & Damien vol.I

I might have missed something somewhere, but I don't really care, my inq headcanon is that he's 20 (I say that because I read some people saying something about the inq being in his/her 30s?). He's just as sarcastic if not more so then Dorian (or Hawke for that matter lol), but unlike Dorian, he's quite confident and happy with himself, bordering on arrogance at times... hey nobody's perfect ok? :P

Now Dorian, at 28, should be in theory more "mature" but due to the background and his father's brilliant "help attempt" is actually a lot more insecure though he tries to hide it behind the indifferent attitude and snarky comments left and right.

It was their similarities is what brought them together (that and both being hot, as they would both would insist on mentioning), and at first it just seemed a passionate affair. What surprised them both was how they actually were looking for the same thing, one less experienced then the other, but nonetheless looking. A relationship. Dorian has been denied one while in Tevinter, and although he's been here for a while, his "baggage" prevented him from finding someone... that or he didn't meet the right guy... Damien had a bit of experience, but eh, 20, not that much time to experiment and whatnot :P

What really sealed the deal for them was realising they're both more on the "gooey on the inside" side of things, rather then the "cool/snarky" side... a realisation that was rather hilarious for them.

So I can continue through the story, but basically perfect lovey dovey match and whatnot... So much for not saying siropy stuff... pfff

And since Dorian and Bull has been a bit of topic of discussion, I do feel I need to address a bit their relationship dynamics... Which is how I view things in real life... it is my headcannon after all...

Difference of opinions on various matters? Sure. Arguments here and there? Sure. Equals and mutual respect? Obviously.  ;)

I sort of agree with you. I do feel the Inquisitor is a full character, but part of that maybe my own head canons filling in what I want for me, so my Trevelyan feels like a full character to me. I think bioware just has trouble balancing the personal side of the story with the grand scope that people want, especially since people want a bunch of different possible starting places, so they don't want the Shepard/Hawke model (or they do, but they want that level of detail with a whole bunch of starting points)

Just saw this now. Undue Influence dialog:

[I] 'That's not the worst assumption they could have, is it?'

[D] 'I don't know, is it?'

[I] 'Do you always answer a question with a question?'

[D] 'Would you like me to answer in some other fashion?'

Priceless

During "Here Lies the Abyss" quest, if the Inquisitor brings Dorian along to the Fade, after finishing the quest will Dorian express his worrying about the Inquisitor's safeness? Or will he only do that if he stays at Skyhold?

That is the thing. I play RPG to read other people's stories, not to RP. If I want to RP, I want my own universe, my own stories.

So I never fill in any head canon for this sort of games. Canon is canon. Head canon doesn't exist. And the existing material is not enough to make my Inquisitor a person. The bugs that blocked off several of my quests and made me restart the game also contributed, in no small measure.

Yes, he does bring up being scared for the Inquisitor's safety and possibly losing him.

For those who don't like the Iron Bull/Dorian relationship, you might want to listen to the Cole/Iron Bull banter.  It gives a different perspective.  It's on youtube, and I'm a noob, so I have no clue how to link it.

I totally agree with you. I love my first Inquisitor. I made him especially for Dorian so he, in my opinion, super hot XD But what I don't like is how little the Inquisitor talk about their past. In DAO and DA 2, the main character have different background stories which made them real but in Inquisition I have the feeling that the Inquisitor just fall out of the sky, literally. They mention their family (or clan if you are dalish) few times but that's it, no deeper than that. I really wish to see my mage human introduce Dorian to his family and since the Trevelyan and Pavus are distantly related, I hope to see the two in-laws interact XD

My first Inquisitor I rolled to romance Cullen.  Dorian became her best friend.  I wanted to cry when he said he was going back to Tevinter.  Now I've done a full playthrough while romancing Dorian and I don't know if I'll ever be able to romance anyone else.

On another note, if I get my wish and the next game is set in Tevinter, I'm perfectly okay with things not working out with Dorian and my Inquisitor if it means I get to romance him again.

I'd love to see other parts of Thedas as well. About time we moved North to different climes.

Maybe we can meet Dorian's extended family, and punch some magisters in the face like Commander Shepard.

I like this scene + kiss even better than the quest aftermath + kiss. The inquisitor goes *snicker* "If you are capable of!", Dorian steps forward, *smooch*. However, they should have made it so, that the stepping foward and kissing happened simultaneously, so the actual kiss would have muffled the rest of his words mid-sentence. That would have been epic. Probably not possible, because of engine limitations though.

If you want to link youtube videos, just copy and paste the url here, it will be show up as a video, like so (the video I have picked is full of spoilers for their romance so beware)

Also, I've seen the vid and it really doesn't change my opinion.

I hate how Dorian is a big drinker. I worry that he's on his way to becoming a bit of a drunk, if he isn't already :( It was a bit of a niggle when he was talking with the Inquisitor but then after a couple banters mentioning his amount of drinking I was like,

giphy.gif

BB NO DUN DO THAT

ANND I love the alternative kiss scene, but if you do that instead of the initial one, the repeatable kiss cutscene doesn't work :( At least, it never did for me.

So the Bull/Dorian romance only happens if they banter enough in the field?

Guess it's fairly easy to avoid then.

They started to play the initial IB/Dorian romance banter in my game and it stopped half way. I think the game was like, "oh, time to play the romance ban- OH ****. YOU'RE ROMANCING DORIAN? SORRY... I'LL JUST GO..." I nearly had a heart attack.

Yeah, he seems to be an alcoholic to me as well. He talks about drinking too much in his banters. He may not be a sloppy drunk ala Oghren or Drunk Alistair, but he still is an alcoholic IMO.

I think it started when he had a falling out with Alexius

Note: this is coming from somebody who grew up with alcoholics.

I actually... liked it. It was a flaw, and if he didn't have that then we might have somebody who is far too perfect. The question is why is he drinking? Possibly his father or alexius, maybe something else, but it's something that maybe the romance could fix (HA!).

How old is Dorian?

I think Cass is at least past 35, maybe even 40. Leliana also in her late to middle thirties. Same with Josephine since she knew Leliana from way back. Cullen past thirty as well. Blackwall is not young, Bull is not young, Vivi is not young, Varric not young either. Cole is a ghost. And Solas is yeah. Sera is the only spring chicken in the group. We are pretty much running with a middle aged party (hmm delicious middle aged party).

Dorian is what, in his late twenties? Early thirties? He feels younger than a lot of the other companions. His Dad is still young enough looking. Maybe that is why while a lot of the other companions have pretty set views about the world and their niches in it, Dorian is still somewhat uncertain and idealistic... But boy does have some fine wrinkles.

The question is why is he drinking?

Right... Because he has no reason at all.

The question is, why the Inq is not drinking or doing something like that? So much responsibilities and so few outlets... I call this BS. PC either has a balls of steel or should end up like Katniss by the end of the game.

I think he's late twenties according to... writers? I can't recall.

Yeah I think that's when it got bad, too.

I agree, I like my characters with flaws (unlike a certain mary sue female dwarf introduced in Inquisition... ) I just love him so much that I worry! Haha!

Yeah, this kiss scene is much better, imo. The previous kiss scene as a relationship starter is a little awkward. This one seems much more natural, to me.

I liked it, too, as a character flaw. It implies that though he tries to act confident, that there are certain issues that he may not cope with well.
