Does anyone else have the bug with the repeatable kiss? It doesn't play if I do the alternate kiss scene after Mother Giselle.

How old is Dorian?

 

I think Cass is at least past 35, maybe even 40. Leliana also in her late to middle thirties. Same with Josephine since she knew Leliana from way back. Cullen past thirty as well. Blackwall is not young, Bull is not young, Vivi is not young, Varric not young either. Cole is a ghost. And Solas is yeah. Sera is the only spring chicken in the group. We are pretty much running with a middle aged party (hmm delicious middle aged party).

 

Dorian is what, in his late twenties? Early thirties? He feels younger than a lot of the other companions. His Dad is still young enough looking. Maybe that is why while a lot of the other companions have pretty set views about the world and their niches in it, Dorian is still somewhat uncertain and idealistic... But boy does have some fine wrinkles.

Based on the time line, Cassandra is probably closer to 40 than 35. But Josephine's writer said she's in her late 20's, so she'd be about a decade younger than Leliana. We don't know for sure, but I would guess late 20's for Dorian as well. He was apparently still an apprentice rather than someone established and his father only recently tried to force a marriage on him. Those things would like have already happened to someone in their 30's. So, I'd say Sera is the youngest in the group, followed by Dorian and Josephine.

I have that too! It fades to black and nothing. I guess because they're not officially together if we choose that option?

No they are in a relationship if you so choose so afterwards. But yeah fade to black then pops to normal again JUST LIKE WHEN YOU ASK TO HANG OUT LIKE COMEON NO CUTSCENE? I WANNA HANG OUT WITH DORIAN

 

It seems to work fine for me.

As for head canons, I picture Dorian as being quite the bookworm, so I see him being late to things, both because it is fashionable and because he gets caught up in what he is reading. He also has a tendency of leaving his books around the Inquisitor's room. 

 

That is a headcanon I share!

Also has anyone ever waited for the third bell at the ball? I love how the Inquisitor mentions he'll be fashionably late at the second and then 'oh crap, now I'm just late.' at the third. 

 

And just a quick look at the Bull - Dorian issue again; I am honestly disturbed that all it takes is someone claiming they respect their partner, when all evidence shows the exact opposite of this, for people to be all 'well, he does respect Dorian and that makes it completely okay!' And my issue with Bull is how he treats both Dorian and the Inquisitor. My arguments aren't from someone just feeling protective of their canon pixel boo. They're from someone who has looked at Iron Bull in any relationship and come away feeling distinctly uncomfortable, and if we're supposed to look at that and just excuse it as being cultural and Bull being an 'alpha male', then I don't know what to say. It definitely shouldn't be treated as okay, I don't think. We should definitely be allowed to question it. 

 

And Dorian is completely comfortable with his Qunari Inquisitor romance, just as he's comfortable with an Inquisitor you make act more forward/generally forthright. I really don't feel it's a matter of 'Dorian is uncomfortable because lol Bull is so forward.' I think it's more 'Dorian is uncomfortable because this is an uncomfortable situation and Bull has displayed pretty controlling and disrespectful behaviour towards him.' I can call one or two instances of needling a joke. I can't call an entire relationship built on crap behaviour a joke. 

 

And I will point out that, again, Bull treats the Inquisitor the same way and if you act displeased by how he acts? He pulls out some pretty horrendous emotional manipulation. There's no talking it out with Bull, there's only what Bull wants and your protests don't mean anything. Instead, Bull acts like he knows what you want better than you do and he acts like that means respect. 

 

Maybe those weren't the writer's intentions, but I think it's telling that people can walk away with that interpretation at all. If anyone can look at a relationship and say 'this sh!t is abusive' and it wasn't necessarily written to be exactly that, then there's a problem.

 

Anyway, that's all I'm gonna say seeing this was a couple of pages back now. I was just asleep and wanted to give my opinion. I'm sorry that I'm kind of stuck on this issue, Dorian thread! It's just something that really squicked me out and has dampened my enjoyment of the game and soured my view of a character I originally liked. ;u;

well, i'm mostly glad we have a variety to choose from. although i disagree with your interpretation, i think with more content (primarily for quizzy romance) some of the hiccups could go a lot smoother and natural.

 

i just wish bio would patch all companion issus already, i'm anxious to start new playthrough.

Another thing I love about Dorian is that even as a female character, I can shamelessly flirt with him. Best thing yet, Cullen doesn't get jealous

I like this scene + kiss even better than the quest aftermath + kiss. The inquisitor goes *snicker* "If you are capable of!", Dorian steps forward, *smooch*. However, they should have made it so, that the stepping foward and kissing happened simultaneously, so the actual kiss would have muffled the rest of his words mid-sentence. That would have been epic. Probably not possible, because of engine limitations though.

Nope. After you do that quest, Mother Giselle is like OH SO IT SEEMS DORIAN HAS AN INFLUENCE ON YOU AND THERE ARE SOME RUMOURS. After she leaves, Dorian is like, "so... are the rumours of us being together true?" and they have a lil' cute exchange where Inquizzy is all coy and Dorian kisses him and IZ SO CUTE. 

 

 

It's superior to other one. Go do it instead of watching a video!

UGHH I AM SO FULL OF JELLY RIGHT MEOW! I shall have to see how long ago that was exactly. Maybe it's not so far back that reloading would be completely crazy.

I changed up the order I did the main missions and the romance this time, so I had the dance at the ball, then the family crest mission and sexy times and THEN did Here Lies the Abyss. I felt that made his overwhelming relief regarding the inquisitor surviving a little more...idk what word to use. Just for me personally having them already be committed to each other and their relationship made his reaction a little more special, I suppose? Idk the right word to use haha but I liked the way it played out so it might be the new order in which I do it from now on

I saw a gif of Dorian coming in to kiss the Inquisitor from a different angle then what I've seen, but I thought it was something else, like a camera moved via mod or something.

When you guys do it, please let me know if the repeatable kiss cutscene loads for you. It doesn't for me, it just fades to black then comes back up to the library like the, "let's hang out" option.

I've done that bit yeah,where Dorian just promptly kisses the Inquisitor when snarked at; it would have been hilarious if he had done it mid speech; I also love how the Inquisitor looks half stunned afterwards Heeeh.

 

Definitely my favorite way of locking the romance. "I dare you to" *gets snogged*

I did try to reload the game, though I didn't try a restart. It didn't work, unfortunately, which sucks because the scene you get with that option is pretty... yeah...

I realize this now. I've never been so obsessed with a character until DA:I. Even Morrigan didn't hit these levels of nerd-love.

 

I got... my hunter to 100, got him kinda sorta geared, then went to Dragon Age. The Inquisition needed me! Was totally worth it, of course.

I just reloaded to a previous save to try the undue influence kiss/romance initiation and afterwards the repeatable kiss was buggy for me as well. Dialogue was normal but then Dorian just walked in place in the library and no scene played
