The insecurity is mostly understandable and sympathetic, but I suppose you could make a case for Dorian having a bad habit of trying to "push" the Inquisitor into proving his devotion.
I'm pretty sure his relationship with the inquisitor is his first serious long term relationship (if I'm wrong someone please correct me
). With that in mind it all falls into place for me. He's constant fears concerning the inq leaving him, or wanting only sex, or getting bored of him, etc. It's a fairly common occurance for a young gay man to experience those type of feelings in his first serious relationship. Especially when there's really crappy baggage like Dorian has (societal rejection, family rejection, being identified as deviant or abnormal and so on - and yes it is a rejection, even though it's worded as "it's ok as long as you hide it").
So yea, I totally get where he's coming from with all that so it doesn't bother me at all. If you are serious about it and get in a relationship with someone like that, it's like a "term of service"
you agree to it and to the fact that you'll have to work a bit harder then usual to assure and confort him so he doesn't lose himself in his own head. He's a smart guy, so hopefully he'll be able to understand soon enough that the inq is there to stay
(well at least mine is
)
